  1. Yeah I saw that, they've gone full USA Hipshot hardware on those and the price tag is pretty high. Would be nice if they could get their own version of licensed Ultralites or Guyker equivalents on the bread and butter Sire range.
  2. My 5 string was 11.6lbs, wasn't an issue until I fractured my left collarbone at which point I started to think about moving it on. It was a great bass though, a mate of mine has a V7 Gen2 in Sherwood Green and after spending a bit of time with it I started thinking about buying another! The Gen2 pickups are a real improvement over the first ones IMO.
  3. You'd think they would have prioritised getting low weight, good quality tuners on the V7 range and up, not much else that needs updating. You can get Lic Ultralites on similarly priced Cort basses.
  4. Inflation isn't always a good barometer as some things get much cheaper due to production methods, certainly beginner guitars are in this group. Comparing them to similarly specced competitors is pretty reliable and the street price of £450 is a lot of money for what is essentially an offshore bolt on plank with no expensive components.
  5. The Aria Sinsonido models had some nice minimal headstock designs, might be able to do a variation on that:
  6. Este was made for the slug-in-place-of-guitar photoshop
  7. Ah you see mine had the box, paperwork and sealed-in-bag accessories, was just a 2019 model with missing cavity cover/paintwork and a cranked truss rod! Tbh if they'd have said it was B stock, made sure it was setup correctly and made me aware of the dings I'd have still bought it as they go for more than that used (albeit a used one is likely to be made more recently), it does take the shine off the NBD though. I don't really spend much on bass gear now as I've had all I need to gig with for years and don't really change my equipment all that much so it was a luxury purchase for me, luckily the bass is great and sounds immense so I'll probably buy the cheaper version as a backup, possibly not in the PMT sale though.
  8. Well yeah shops in general are supposed to provide a good service. Even if the item you receive has missed QC at the factory that's fine as you can send it back, not the shop's fault and not a big deal. Sending out a new bass with dings down to the bare wood and a missing cavity cover with the preamp hanging out the back is an entirely different story however, as was the Ashdown head they sold as new covered in scratches with a broken eq slider. I think this recent clearance was a case of them getting rid of excess stock from the Liverpool warehouse by someone looking at an online inventory and nothing getting checked on the way out, the very helpful staff having to deal with the fallout. I've always had good service from PMT but this did make me think twice about bargain items in their clearance sale.
  9. @visogThere's an EHB1506MS on Facebook for £1100 https://www.facebook.com/groups/BassPlayersMarketUK/permalink/5851594744852105/?sale_post_id=5851594744852105
  10. I think wax crayon would work as well, I used the furniture touch up kits (essentially the same thing) on a couple of basses and they worked wonders even with quite large/deep gouges. That's the problem with this type of soft finish on stained bodies - the bare wood looks really bad and knocks/dings are hard to avoid
  11. For the price of a new Bart equipped bass (circa £800) you could get a used Nord version. A standard scale 1505 in the burst finish recently sold for £825 (seller was offering £800 to watchers though) and there's a 1505MS on there at the moment at £799 with no bids. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234719734332?epid=3047087185&hash=item36a662ea3c:g:e6YAAOSwqqJjOujR&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoH8iK1sNYhF0xIUpAFqGg1LpqNPCDP3KWSu%2BuD81%2B0TjDplacn7WtJ%2FY0RMxvZ544yqlo9DLzS4WgZKNulCi4DpFLNw0CsaZ5LZseYVmiR%2B15jYou7cdV6fivwRomFpxAkr%2BuDjdujQLsDefi1%2BLsCCHm9s8bUm8Wsa3JWforTpyjj15odSC%2BbpF6ydHVpnJfnxudU%2BtHpeGMJZ6h6cQ3DM%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR96KmPL2YA A few dings on there but the PLF colour is very easy to touch up with a blue Sharpie, made the little knocks on mine disappear in a few seconds. Looks like the seller has been careless when snipping the ends off new strings there which is something to watch out for.
  12. The BTB multiscale 6er has the T1 pickups as well so there's videos out there which all sound great. I wish they'd do the other 1000x series with them, I'd buy one for a spare then!
  13. The Wal control cavity is extremely satisfying to look at:
  14. Spent some time tonight playing through a mate's Gnome head with a Sire V7 2nd gen and a little Ashdwn Mi10. Sounded great and could barely tickle the volume knob. It gave a very good representation of the Sire tone through IEMs that I'm used to only through a conventional amp, moreso than my TC BH250 which is pretty impressive. Seems like it nails the clean + loud thing in a very inexpensive and tiny package.
  15. Some more: Love a bit of Ningen Isu as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JY89ZxVqEg
  16. Lovely little slice of French pop, my favourite version is this one. Used to play this for my daughter when she was little and she loved it: Love this band (88 Kasyo Junrei), top bass playing but most of their stuff is written in Japanese script so difficult to search for. Haven't got a clue what they're on about but it sounds great:
  17. My favourite comment was "The last person I want to see do Ian Brown songs on karaoke is Ian Brown."
  18. A lot of them are quite low with semi reclined backrests, there's loads of different ones though. The good news is that fishermen are complete tarts and are constantly buying the latest models even though the ones they have are almost exactly the same so the used market is pretty healthy. Usually loads of carp chairs on Facebook and there should be something at every price point. This looks like it has a fully adjustable backrest, extending legs and no arm rests for £39: https://fishdeal.co.uk/t/fishing-chairs/ultimate-recliner-chair-green?gclid=CjwKCAjwhNWZBhB_EiwAPzlhNiy4UnXP9k-4n2_fz5vkjBHM0GdGqe6wJJ73j1MNUeFCqS2h1-IZDhoCji8QAvD_BwE
  19. You can also get canal stool fishing platforms with adjustable backrests as well. https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/16413617/nufish-restabox-16413617
  20. Try carp fishing chairs, usually fully adjustable and fold flat.
  21. It does kinda reming me of my first covers band, having a limited budget and this being a time before affordable, lightweight powered cabs we needed a rack unit to house our 3 beefy Peavey power amps and desk in. Our guitarist had just removed all his old kitchen cupboards and we ended up making our own out of the scrap wood, even had a nice angled top which the desk bolted into. Carpeted it in whatever was cheapest to acquire at the time and the fuzzy felt texture was similar to this, makes me cringe thinking back to when we turned up to play weddings with that thing.
  22. I have a cat, that green felt wouldn't last 5 minutes!
