The unholy trinity of sh1te couriers is Evri/Hermes, Yodel and DX.
-
Mainstream festival = pop music. ArcTanGent, Green Man etc are on every year, plenty of original acts touring out there who would be chuffed at some new fans turning up. Reading/Leeds and V etc cater to a slightly younger audience than the average BC member, if they're enjoying it and think it's worth going then that's all that matters really. These days they aren't something I'd personally consider worthwhile but it isn't aimed at me, I'm sure my parents thought the music I listened to in the 90s and early 00s was awful too.

Some of those look ok until you get to the headstocks and the price tags.

Bass Direct has the internal measurements for the Gator mixer bags along with some of the heads that fit in them: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Gig_Skinz_Gig_Bags.html There's a new Small one (11" x 10") for sale in the classifieds on here if that's any use:

He scammed a friend of mine over a drum machine a bit ago as well, I directed him to this thread. I spoke to a retired DI friend about this and he said Facebook is a nightmare for police to investigate as they won't co-operate at all without a warrant (or some police speak, can't remember exactly as we we're at the pub). I don't think Mick knows this so will be full of confidence about his ability to get away with scaling his scams up into the sort of territory where people won't let it go so easily and he won't have the same sort of protection. He's not exactly a criminal mastermind so this will catch up with him sooner rather than later I would expect. Given his criminal history you would think next time he'll get a bit more than a slap on the wrists as well.

Bargain five string - £50 for a quick sale - *SOLD*
lemmywinks replied to ambient's topic in Basses For Sale
Headstock looks a bit short for one of Shine's own branded models, they usually have a bit more beyond the machine heads. probably an OEM from the Chinese Saein factory mind. I had the 6 string version of this bass in trans red many moons ago and also the posher SB525TA 5 string with a fancy top. Both solid basses that punched well above their used value, especially the 5 string which I gigged a few times. -
That's what we had, the old grey plastic one which did us fine, sold it a bit ago and eventually only got £40 for it after a couple of months so they're cheap to pick up as well.

But yeah try and get used to IEMs, wedge monitors turned out to be nothing more than a stepping stone for me.
-
The little Behringer ones are great as mic stand monitors, otherwise a small powered wedge is what you want. When our singer and keys player started using IEMs me and the drummer bought a small JBL 10" monitor and just used that, worked fine. Better options are available for more money obviously!

Gigged an active ash standard for years, great bass. You'll probably want to swap the nut out for the brass verson, aside from that they're rock solid, sound great and are a joy to play.

This is why I remain anonymous on forums!

They're a bargain so trying them out isn't a gamble, even if you don't like them you won't lose money selling them on. I bought some used Nordstrands for my Sire, gigged them for 3 years and sold them on for what I paid for them when I got a new bass.

Will Vintage Guitars Be Worthless When Boomers Are Gone?
lemmywinks replied to musicbassman's topic in General Discussion
That kinda did happen, the majority of modern music isn't guitar based (might not even be a bass guitar on the recording) and even live drums are often time aligned. Younger generations have a lot of options if they want to make music and less of them are picking up guitars. -
Will Vintage Guitars Be Worthless When Boomers Are Gone?
lemmywinks replied to musicbassman's topic in General Discussion
Does make you wonder how many of the vintage guitars in private collections are very good counterfeits and how many dealers know about it. I remember the Music Ground crooks getting caught with faked up vintage amps a while back. -
Havig a clearout and decided to part out my bitsa fretless, been playing it with roundwounds for years and the ebanol fingerboard has picked up a bit of wear, mainly paler streaks down the length of it. Is there anything I could do to polish/buff these out? With ebanol being paper/resin I thought some sort of car buffing compound would work but don't want to ruin it through stupidity!

Looking for a strong but lightweight bass flight case
lemmywinks replied to jazzyvee's topic in Accessories and Misc
Would the hard foam cases be suitable? I used one of these with my Warwicks back in the big PA in a big van days and it was as good as any regular hard case while being incredibly light. Unless you're flying then I'd just use one of those if weight is an issue. Mine was a Warwick branded rectangular one which was huge but you can get less cumbersome designs now. -
That's the best finish of all the EHB basses along with the Black Ice 6er IMO, wish they did it on the other models.
-
The advantage of Thomann pre-paying fees and doing all the paperwork on their side not only means it most likely makes it through customs a bit faster but you also won't get hit with the handling fee courier companies generously award themselves.
-
Disappointing but in no way surprising.
-
Yeah Thomann stuff is still coming through ok, had a pretty large item arrive after 5 working days recently.
-
Saw this on their Facebook, hope they get it back. I think their original bass player used to post on here every now and then. Top band as well if anyone wants to give them a listen.
