Aria were always good, the shift to Korea and then China did diminish the brand but they were still churning out some nice entry to mid level basses. Well built, great necks, decent pickups and always nice to look at. Alongside the usual clones they still do some really eyecatching instruments like the FEB acoustics and the SB reissues. There's a really nice PEB65 LP style bass that I keep seeing on Facebook

I still have an early Korean (Samick made) Integra which has the body writing but the short/broad headstock, again bought because it was a cheap way to get the Billy Gould connection! If you get lucky they still have the MIJ Aria bridges as they used some of the old parts. The pickups in mine are brutish, sound ace for anything heavy.

A mate of mine had one of the high end Japanese TRBs many years ago, that was a 35" 6er with 19mm spacing and a pretty much flat radius. Was just a phenomenal instrument and surprisingly easy to play, looked really daunting though as the fretboard was huge!

Ibanez BTB and Yamaha TRB have 19mm I think.

I'm ok with the P2/P4 sizing for regular 5er and MS respectively as you can get Barts (proper ones), Aguilar or Nords in there which is a decent choice, all expensive though. Would EMG dimensions cater for multiscale 5ers?

Yeah the BH2 are used across the SR, BTB and EHB range, Cort are only using the Mk series on their own brand basses.

The BH2 in the EHB 100x series are regular humbuckers aren't they? I didn't mind the MKI wired passive as they were attached to the MKI preamp which was pretty bad, the 3EMP3LD in the EHB series is generally well regarded though.

I think a few people over on TB wired the licensed Barts in parallel to counter the baked in dark sound a little, lowers the output so might be beneficial to switch to the +6db connector as well.

The Platinum Stage and Pro are two different units, the Stage is more compact and lightweight (with a belt/strap clip) whereas the Pro is a floor unit with a nice screen for the inbuilt tuner and footswitches for mute and signal boost. The Stage has all the features you mention so the only difference for you would be the 3 position HPF on the Stage (40hz, 80hz & 160hz) vs the potentiometer on the Pro. They both sound great, I have both and use the Pro live at every gig. The Stage is used at home but I'd have no qualms about using it live if it had a mute and tuner function.

Get the piezo sorted then put tapewounds on it, what buffer preamp do you have in the bass at the moment? Adding a mag pickup is going to make it sound less like an upright IMO. Also pluck the string with the side of your finger, if you want to go the whole hog then have the bass defretted.

Warwick copies are all over AliExpress and now eBay, tbh there's some tempting cheap Corvettes for under £200.

I have the full fat Pro Go Ultimate and also the Pro Go X (which is pretty much the same as their Transit bag), out of the two the Pro Go Ultimate is definitely the superior bag in terms of rigidity, protection and well thought out storage. I liked it so much I bought the guitar version for my headless! I got the Pro Go X for £50 in a clearance sale years ago back when they were only £100 new, tbh I wouldn't pay that new price let alone what they go for now. If I needed a cheaper semi rigid gigbag now I'd probably go for a TGI Extreme which are around £50.

This is why the job of designer and fabricator are two seperate roles. The person who made that has some real skill, unfortunately they have no idea what a guitar is.

As said ditch the typical bronze wound strings, I like nylon tapewound or filament core/bronze wound. Some manufacturers are starting to use carbon coated strings on acoustic basses from the factory.

Yeah definitely, I originally bought it so I had a backup bass that I could carry in a cheap gigbag and leave leaning against a wall, ended up doing entire sets with it at functons. Was just a sweet bass that nailed the Jazz sound, I picked up a tort plate for mine (it was the sunburst finish) but apart from that it was stock. I later had a few Integras and currently have a SInsonido, something about the necks I really like.

Bargain that, I used an STB J as my backup bass for years. Loved the neck profile and bridge pickup on it.

While on the lookout for a cheap headless backup bass I spotted this, seeing as there's been a few chancers pricing these at £500+ recently it's refreshing to see one on sale for a more realistic sum.
