  1. Rockbitch were a quality band, I wouldn't lump them in with bands that set out to be offensive at all as they never did it to create a reaction or to get noticed. IMO they'd have been far more successful and would have had a decent chance of breaking through if they'd have ditched the stage show, it was part of who they are and their ethos as a band though. Their drummer died not so long ago I think. Never like thinking about that band tbh as it just makes me GAS for a fretless original Steinberger which is something I really can't justify!
  2. The loom in there will most likely be fine, if you want to spend some money on upgrading wiring then grab a TS100 or SQ001 iron plus a power supply for £40ish. Passive J/P bass wiring is entry level stuff if you have decent equipment, loads of guides and diagrams online.
  3. Stick one of these in front of it? https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Behringer-BDI21-V-Tone-Bass-Preamp/6LV?origin=product-ads&gclid=Cj0KCQiA8vSOBhCkARIsAGdp6RR2tdo7HgeWES2Xr1hFlZfEZkSqj3Dq6QSO_o8NE0JvAX_OOpUdJ-saAnK4EALw_wcB
  4. Love how the description makes out like this is just a project he no longer has time for when in reality he's just trashed a prefectly serviceable Cort. That attempted fake aluminium neck is a thing of wonder.
  5. Ordered this as convenient house practice bass and for quiet jams along with the recommended cheapo gigbag from Thomann. There was an offer of a b stock example for £15 off (£174, just over £190 total including gigbag) so I bought that thinking it would just be the odd sign of light player wear. Hmmm... Well it arrived today, just dumped in the porch area of my work with no doorbell or knock so not a great start, DHL was the courier btw. Unboxed it - looks sweet, feels very stiff and boxy but that's to be expected from a small bodied acoustic at this price. Sounds unexpectedly loud, very prominent midrange which isn't unpleasant and again is something I expected, overall a decent sounding instrument that seems immediately usable. The low E sounds very full, nothing particularly deep but it's definitely "there" with a good amount of low mids. However - serious buzz on the G string particularly after the 6th fret. Playing with a very light touch is fine but anything more than that and it's game over really. Neck is straight but on closer inspection the fret job on the treble side seems quite poor with sprout in the centre and some improperly seated frets up the neck, the issues seem to mainly be with the fingerboard binding and presumably poorly cut slots. Fret ends also feel very intrusive and tbh this doesn't feel like a very well finished instrument. This is further compounded on closer inspection when I see lots of small finish flaws such as sloppy stain over the binding, rough plastic on the heel cap etc. The wiring is also rattling around inside as the adhesive cable clip has failed Tbh this is the first cheap bass I've had finishing issues with in a long time, you kinda expect near perfection at every price point these days and I'm a bit surprised it not only left the factory like that but also passed return inspection at Thomann. Nothing major cosmetically but lots of little things. Bit gutted as I originally wanted the more expensive fretless Artcore version which is no longer for sale, I did buy this one half expecting to defret at some point but tbh will probably send it back. Shame as it's a cool little thing, very disappointing from Ibanez and Thomann though. Also the gigbag recommended by Thomann on the listing for the bass is noticeably too big, looks like a standard dreadnought bag, would have been nice of they found a concert or mini jumbo bag that is a better fit. Suppose it was cheap though and seems more than adequate for the price.
  6. Yeah but you aren't allowed to sell them on here.
  7. Take the O and the R out and you'd be more on track!
  8. It was this thread I think, haven't found the posts yet: There's been a concerted effort to legitimise the confederacy over the years, essentially trying to rewrite history. Similar to holocaust denial, evolution denial and flat earthers they have a lot of "evidence" they can present for those who struggle processing information.
  9. Didn't we have a poster on here who tried to tell us all the confederacy was motivated by economics and totally not about owning humans?
  10. I'm sure the future owner will be delighted when their sister-aunt buys them that bass for their birthday.
  11. I've already ordered one of the (presumably knockoff) Fishman Presys ones so I'll try that first, thanks for the offer though. Tbh I'm not sure how much of a knockoff they are - you find them in the Alien Deluxe (and listed on the Warwick site as a 90 Euro part) but then you find them on £200 Harley Bentons.
  12. Or just say nothing about it unless you are part of that community.
  13. Seriously if you are so desperate to use that word just put asterisks in place of a few letters. Facebook will detect certain words and auto ban, that way they can look like they're doing something to combat the far right stuff that's rife on there without actually spending any money or hiring new staff. You can appeal it but there's little point.
  14. Think it was the early ones that had the scooped sections where the neck joins the body, mine had those. Wish I'd kept it tbh!
  15. It was mainly the conventional side mounted pre/eq units I was looking at, I'm assuming the Fishman Presys ones on eBay etc are all fake given the price but honestly they would probably be ok for this particular bass, something like this which was presviously used in Warwick Alien basses: https://www.teknologi.co.uk/product/fishman-presys-blend-301-acoustic-guitar-pickup/ It's for an old fretless Ozark I bought used 23 years ago, it has a ton of battle scars so is basically borderline worthless, I don't gig with it so the preamp is just for convenience. Having had a look at various manufacturers it seems that they all just use generic acoustic units so will probably just order one and see how it goes.
  16. Pretty much everything I'm looking at is designed to work with a piezo, some (Fishman Presys 3) also have a small onboard mic with a blend control. Artec don't seem to have a dedicated acoustic bass unit but they do show frequencies, bass looks to be usable at around 80-120hz. I have their preamps in electric basses and quite like them, also use their bass piezo strip in my travel bass.
  17. Looking to upgrade the guts on my long-suffering acoustic, currently has a passive volume/tone rolloff in there which is fine up to a point, would rather have something which buffers the signal and gives a bit more flexibility though. Been looking for a decent budget option (the bass itself is worth very little) but as you would expect there doesn't seem to be anything bass specific until you're looking at spending nearer £100, has anybody used normal guitar preamps in their acoustic bass? Seen some budget ones on eBay/AliExpress including a Fishman PreSys 2 & 3 (used on some Harley Bentons) and some no name units (EQ 7545 seems to be rebranded a fair bit), I know Ibanez use the AEQ2T in a lot of their acoustic basses. Ideally want something compact with the battery compartment in the same enclosure. Btw for anybody suggesting an external preamp I already have a Fishman Pro Platinum EQ and a QSC K10.2 so am already sorted in that regard, just looking for something that fits in the bass that gives me more options if I'm jamming somewhere and need to plug in for some reason.
  18. Same, most people of African heritage over here that I know would never use it as it isn't part of their culture at all. For African Americans it's totally different so it's for them to decide really, internal discussion has been happening for decades now.
  19. If it's not a slur when they use it to refer to each other (sometimes it's neutral, sometimes a term of endearment) then it isn't offensive. At the end of the day it's for those within that demographic to decide.
  20. When people of African ancestry use that term it is not an ethnic slur. Obviously it has different connotations if a white guy said it, no matter how it's spelt or pronounced there is a metric ton of historical reasons why it is inappropriate. Hopefully 2023 will be the year that the basschat dad brigade no longer need this explaining to them, I ain't counting on it but we can all live in hope.
  21. That bridge isn't for a bass guitar, it's for an electric uke or banjolin. Annoyingly there's tons of them if you're searching eBay or AliExpress for bass bridges.
  22. I get the banjo novelty thing but is there really a market for this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265392824605?hash=item3dcaa5211d:g:c0YAAOSwqJlhhWdD A £210 bass ukulele converted from a cheap child's guitar, you can already buy this sort of thing for less money as a stock instrument.
  23. That seller started off doing the bass uke conversion kits for kids' acoustics, looks like he's grafting headstocks onto other instruments now. Here's the back of the nut on this one:
  24. Harley Benton do a pretty cheap bass focused preamp/DI, loads of great features and only £72 but I think I remember someone on here saying it was too noisy: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_bass_di_expander.htm If you need a decent preamp/DI then it's probably best to just grab a used Nux or Fishman, something like that. They're worth their weight in gold, there's a NUX in the Marketplace at the moment:
