  1. I always find it weird when someone can have the expertise to build a neck, shape a body and achieve a decent standard of finish but just have zero eye for what looks good in the most basic sense. That bottom one looks like it's half way there - has some lines that flow nicely across the centre line but then the builder ruins it with that bottom horn and the odd choice of how the upper horn joins the body.
  2. Music gear taking ages to sell at the moment, no way should this still be here.
  3. So that's the root of it then. Ripping off musicians, venues and families going on holiday to go to the bookies FFS.
  4. The TH500 and GS410 are enough for any regular pub gig without PA support, you don't need to present a 4ohm load to the amp so no need to buy any more kit as what you have is already more than adequate. In fact it would be more than what most people on here gig with. I'm certain this is input gain related.
  5. Remnants of the eBay auction on Worthpoint: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/tennessee-15-string-bass-guitar-532440190 "The strings are a various collection of brands running from .317 (needs to be thicker than that), .254, .232, .217, .184, .156, .135, .105, .080, .060, .032, .024, .014, .011 and .008. The tuning is F, A#, D#, G#, C#, F#, B, E, A, D, G, C, F, a# and d#. The bass pickups are active and are both Seymour Duncan" The seller tried to blag it with some waffling about sub-contrabass but everybody can tell it's a total mess. IIRC they got a bit tired of trolling messages and put the price up to something silly. Found another picture for @ambient, enjoy! The thickest and thinnest strings are over thin air instead of fretboard there, is it now a sub contra bass harp?
  6. Well you'd better not look at these then...
  7. Does anybody remember the one of these (Tennessee branded but just another AliExpress special) floating around on eBay a few years ago? The owner had tried to mod it into an acceptable instrument by throwing decent pickups and custom string sets at it but it was a total mess. Started off at some silly price and gradually got discounted to the point where it was probably worth it for the parts if you wanted a handy portable ironing board.
  8. Nah I've never owned one, just had a look at the front panel on t'internet!
  9. Plug the bass straight into the TH500 and use a single cab. Set the eq flat, the -10db button out and drive to 0, set the gain until the clip light comes on then back it off a little until it doesn't. If it still sounds bad/quiet then try with the 2x10. Sounds like an input gain issue to me so pay attention to the bit in bold.
  10. 14.2lbs, actually expected it to be heavier.
  11. Grab one of these while they're on sale for less than half price: https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Soundcraft-Notepad-5-Analog-USB-Mixer/1XK3?network=affiliate-window&affiliate_id=246555&publisher=Enligo&utm_source=affiliate-window&utm_medium=affiliate&awc=1117_1663452958_f8f3a67da808b6f0f3fb13763aae860c&utm_content=deep-link Does need to be mains powered but can take a line in via USB or phono, the mic preamp sounds killer for bass and it's also a quality mini mixer.
  12. Superb little preamps, I had the regular VC3. Basically a box that makes everything sound better.
  13. Yeah I quite like it, a bit more phallic than a regular Dolphin. If it was close to me I'd be having a look at it, looks to be some bodgery around the nut and I imagine the bridge pickup isn't going to sound great that far back though.
  14. Might be worth a punt if you're near Warrington, counterfeit logo and individual saddles screams AliExpress but can't remember seeing Dolphin copies on there. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255722974825?hash=item3b8a46ee69:g:dLYAAOSwkH9jHzXu
  15. No issues carrying either Gator case, 6'6" though so while it can never sit low enough to hit the back of my legs it has to be taken off to get through doors. I use a headless now in the guitar version of the Pro Go and that's much easier. Carried the bass version with my Sire in 2.5 miles home from a local gig before. The Gigblade cases were meant to solve that problem but reports from people that used them usually said the opposite.
  16. There's different Protection Racket ones in the current range, the two more expensive cases look like the old style semi rigid one they used to do whereas the cheaper one looks like a softer traditional gigbag.
  17. It's the piezo strip, the saddle screws look angled down to make contact with it. There used to be bass uke conversion kits floating around on eBay where the rubber uke strings would pass through the bridge, even that looked fiddly and not worth ruining a guitar for when you could buy a new bass uke with gigbag for around £90 at the time. Either way it's got 6 bids fo far, up to £2.20.
  18. I've got a couple of the Gator Pro Go semi rigid ones, great gigbags especially if you need lots of storage.
  19. Just got an email for G4M and this is in their clearance sale, usually around £90 so less than half price. Anybody after a high quality mini desk for practice etc should be well served, I use mineevery day: https://www.google.com/search?q=soundcraft+notepad+5&client=firefox-b-d&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwivruPDg4b6AhX-QEEAHYImCtoQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1920&bih=955&dpr=1
  20. WIlkinson BBOT will probably fetch enough to cover postage.
  21. Although it is tempting to stick a £1 bid on for a laugh there's always a chance you might end up winning it and having to pay a tenner to get the thing posted. That strip on the front of the bridge is the piezo, that's why the ends of the saddle screws(well most of them) are making contact with it. Mad.
  22. Mad how it's still there, great option for a travel bass. I play my 1505 every day, such a great instrument. Been after a cheap headless 5er as a backup but there's nothing, missed out on a full body Steinberger recently for £220, still kicking myself for not immediately buying it.
  23. What's that bit of wire/metal stcking out of the bridge on that pic I posted above btw? Seems like there's a bar connecting the saddle screws as well, is it a bizarre earthing strip? The more I look at it the more confused I get.
  24. Ah didn't notice they were extra long, probably not!
