  1. I gigged this bass last night - keeping hold of it was absolutely the correct decision, it's killer.
  2. Politely tell them no.
  3. Recent post on the Iceni/Zoot FB page about possibly starting up carbon neck production again, give @Cosmicrain a shout. https://www.facebook.com/zootbass/posts/pfbid0V6qxhFJhgYDFH79ujcFmFpjzQNrbQmJCLbtRVeKRmfZetSzW3XBraHnQJ1LvYmmKl?__cft__[0]=AZU2-cYMNj_WvIWRU2WwPQLzMWcGQHw89caQa-Xd8yW5s9jWffLnje-ZgViCcxQ-AJD9cfyabLIFV2Ea3SdONhDLy2BJ4Rz_gC-lOPlJXOgP_PqkMkNGo5d_JuU52oO_cd0LMxrgrU744oFAWkudCNVNU443e3WPJlfkqFmPe70xST9YVy4cZlelYRcQBExAyuU&__tn__=%2CO%2CP-R
  4. I always fancied one of the DX Jazz basses with the rear routed controls, I gigged a standard STB Jazz for a while and it sounded great. Only bought it so I had a knockabout backup bass (I paid £45 for it) that I didn't have to use a stand or case with, ended up using alongside a custom bass on function gigs.
  5. Assume it's just part of the STB DX series like the STB - JB DX. The pickup is stock but the scratchplate may be aftermarket, Google search turns up the odd one:
  6. I like that they keep that same sound in passive mode, really pokey midrange that is also present in my Zoot. I have an urge to put Elixirs on this, haven't used them in ages but think they'd really suit how the bass sounds.
  7. As much as I like Cort basses they do turn out basses with very soft finishes, think I already mentioned the B5 OPM I had which developed player wear extremely quickly. They should do the same on the Squiers they produce and sell them as easy relic finishes! Definitely give these a try if you like playing seated, I do most of my home playing/learning sat at a PC with headphones and it's very comfortable for that, lots of options RE positioning and a more upright, classical style posture is possible. Been playing my Sinsonido a lot recently which I think may have subconsciously steered me towards these basses.
  8. Update - spent a bit of time setting the bass up to factory specs, it came with a silly low action and a lot of backbow but is now playing properly. With the cavity cover on it's basically a fully functional ex-demo bass and PMT offered a further 5% discount making it around £730 which I think is an excellent price so will be keeping hold of it. Got to have a full rehearsal with it last night through the provided cabs in the picture, sounds great and is very ergonomic to use. The Nordstrands in this bass are excellent, also fits nicely in the Gator Pro Go Deluxe guitar gigbag even with the bottom padding still in place.
  9. Hahaha classic! Ours is knocking on for 16 and just tells us what to do now, we only realised she'd been training us long after it had already happened.
  10. Can grab a Fishman Platinum Stage for around £70 used when they turn up, I have one for passive piezo basses and it's very small and light. Has a belt/strap clip so isn't restricted to being a floor unit.
  11. Your cat is a double for mine from that angle, does she have a T800 style bi-colour face by any chance?
  12. RE Gibson making a push to sell basses - do they have any other designs that would do all that well outside of the T-Bird and SG shapes? Some models have a bit of niche appeal like the Grabber/Ripper, RD and to a certain extent the Victory but I don't think they're gonna fly off the shelves. The last time they tried to design something new(ish) it was the modernised EB like the one below, this was featured in the Bill & Ted movie and was quite a cool shape with neat finish options:
  13. The JC sigs have a great reputation though, I imagine a Gibson version would see QC drop off a cliff. Did they move production to China with the other Epis or are they still Korean? I can remember Epiphone having a big (and relatively brief) drop in quality not so long ago but the JC didn't seem to be affected by that.
  14. Just got the Gator ProGo Deluxe electric guitar bag delivered for a different bass, with the internal bottom cushion removed it's 106cm long but looks like it would accomodate an extra couple of cm without deforming or overly stretching the bag. There's one on eBay with a £30 start bid at the moment in the Leics area if anybody wants to try it, the seller won't post (already asked before I bought mine) so potentially a bargain to be had. EDIT- It just about fits my daughter's Tanglewood Elfin 30" scale with the bottom pad removed, that's 110cm including the strap button (109cm without) so looks like it would be fine for a Mustang. The one on eBay is here if anyone is close enough to collect, no affiliation to the seller: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125441368700?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11051.m43.l1123&mkcid=26&ch=osgood&euid=aa7176e6f8374551835eb96cd72a6bda&bu=43597808871&osub=-1~1&crd=20220731123002&segname=11051
  15. I expect Rex's (and every other signed artist) personal instruments will be outsourced to whatever luthier Gibson is using at the moment, only the regular Joes get to enter the production line lottery.
  16. Yeah tbh every member of staff I've spoken to either via phone or online has been very good. The person I spoke to on the phone had a scouse accent and the number was the Liverpool warehouse. In other news the cavity cover has arrived (albeit with 3 black and one silver screw) and has been installed.
  17. Of course! Address on the invoice is the Liverpool store.
  18. It's Jordan I'm dealing with via email so seems like they're very helpful across the board. The missing cavity cover is arriving today via DPD so good news on that front. Had some more time with this bass last night and the low B is monstrous.
  19. That's half of the ballache really, not only do you have the disappointment of the thing you purchased not being as described but the hassle of returning it as well which doesn't always go smoothly. I bought a B stock cheap bass from Thomann not so long ago and had issues with both of the drop off points - the first refused to take the box and the second had an issue with the scanner. Doesn't sound much but it took up one of my lunch hours I'd rather have had to myself.
  20. Oh and I'm not particularly bothered about the thread, mods can close it if they like.
  21. Why on earth would I want to talk to you over pm about things I've aleady expressed zero interest in on this thread? Just stop posting on it if you have nothing on topic to say, everything you have said on here has been about provoking unwanted drama. Start your own thread for that nonsense.
  22. I'm gonna be honest I genuinely don't appreciate having people come on here and use terms like "not classy" in a derogatory manner, especially from a moderator who has nothing else to say regarding the actual issue in the thread. Been at work all day and had the added task of sorting this out with PMT so have been pretty clear about unwanted comments derailing the thread. If he can't leave it be then maybe moderate the moderator? I really CBA with it in all honestly, not what I come on here for.
  23. There does seem an oddly deliberate trend of sending out incorrectly described goods and offering some recompense if the buyer complains, not saying that's what's happened in this instance but I've heard it a few times aside from here. A mate bought a Blackstar mini stack from GAK (the little cream 5w versions) and they sent him the mkI instead of the new mkII, the difference being the mkII was switchable between 1w and 5w or something to that effect. Obviously it was cheaper than everywhere else because it was the old version and when he complained they gave him £20 store credit. When he checked a couple of weeks later the website still hadn't been changed.
  24. Yeah just get your drama somewhere else, this aint the thread for it.
  25. Depends how you define rudeness, coming on someone's thread and calling them classless is absolutely rude in my book. Either way the little old fella has been sent on his way now so its done with, no point raking up residential home drama 3 pages into a thread about something entirely different. RE this bass (and the Shavo head also mentioned) it'll just be head office asking each store to make an inventory of unsold stock and then their online presence listing it using stock photos, somewhere along the line there hasn't been enough communication but this is just something to expect when companies expand and the different stores/departments don't have the same level of cohesion as they once did. The guy I spoke to on the phone sounded genuinely disappointed something had gone out in that state. Missing an entire cavity cover is a new one on me though.
