  1. "I had a transposition pedal hooked up for the bass synth that I could literally hit my low E string and drop it almost three octaves. We were getting down in the area of 6Hz at probably about 130dB. The first time we actually tested it we all threw up and cracked a wall in the warehouse. It was fantastic."

The QC on the new Epiphones is pretty patchy apparently, some pretty bad fretwork and finish issues going off independent reviews.
  3. Should probably pop a working bridge in the post for the OP though which is what I meant.
  4. Rather than fannying about with blowtorches (please don't dop this), squirting it with WD40 (or this) or soaking in a rust removing solution (the actual correct way to do it) why not just send it back to the guy that sold it and get a replacement that works properly? Paying extra to have a bass with knackered parts is nuts, surely you can have the played with sandpaper gloves look while still getting a functional instrument?
  5. Some great (and unexpectedly complex) bass lines in ABBA songs, have fun. I just use a bog standard J bass sound, had far more fun learning/playing ABBA than I thought I would!
  6. My Basslite 2010 has spade connectors, did I get stung? I only paid £24 delivered for it... To the OP: I have that driver in a single compact 1x10 (an EA CXL110) and while it does sound great I wouldn't want to gig with a pair of them, the Deltalite I had in there before was a different story and I've rehearsed with a drummer using just that single cab and a Superfly head. If your shoulders are knackered then I'd personally just get rid of your current cabs and buy Barefaced or something similarly light.
  7. Says it goes down to 47hz. Doesn't look like it tilts upwards much though:
  8. Indeed. The standard LP has been changed to a short neck tenon and back on a regular basis and you can only get the longer "correct" classic era style one if you pay more for a Custom Shop etc. That's something that does affect structural integrity and tone which they changed for the worse to cut costs so they aren't exactly faithful to the original designs. You can get that original feature on a £500 Epi and a £400 Cort but not your £2k Gibson.
  9. You would assume that designing a musical instrument would involve some sort of insight into structural integrity. The headstock problem is comically easy to resolve, every other manufacturer manages to do it. Wood grain was a known factor many centuries before Gibson started making instruments.
  10. IMO there's only a handful of decent songs on that album so being so-so puts it in the top 5!
  11. Same price as a Helix Stomp? 🤣🤣
  12. I was listening to the guy from Kiesel talking about this, he says they released their V 9 years before Gibson bothered to trademark theirs. If there's two things Gibson are good at it's making sub-par instruments and losing court cases, looks like this trend is set to continue.
  13. What's the price and also what's the spacing on the 5?
  14. I also have a Tobias fetish (it's the only one of my 3 dream basses I've never owned) and now play Jazz shaped basses so that's fine by me!
  15. Funnily enough spotted one of the el cheapo range Lodestones on Facebook just now (while looking for less hideous basses obviously) for £175: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/504336910485159/ Gonna assume the seller is paying you the £175 to take it away rather than the other way around. Not too far from you @AndyTravis
  16. On Facebook, don't see these often and there's someone on here who plays these I think? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/523501651624436/ Seems like a decent deal considering the pickup upgrade and hard case.
  17. I like 'em! Kinda a GB Spitfire built by Fender vibe going on with them.
  18. Have you stuck a multimeter across them to check resistance? Bartolini list it as 8.5/7 for the neck and 9.8 for the bridge.
  19. His were masterbuilt instruments, I think Jason Davis made one of them so they'll be as good as anything, he actually built a few interesting basses. Not your run of the mill Fender or even the custom shop series. Edit - here's some Fenders built by him:
  20. That's a perfect case in point - Fender made a high end custom shop bass to the spec of a talented player in a popular (at the time) band and it never got off the ground. IIRC Tye Zamora struggled to sell his own personal ones.
  21. I've always thought it's perfectly acceptable for Fender to just make Jazzes, Precisions, Teles, Strats, Jaguars etc. It's what they do and if there's one company that should be making the original classic designs that everybody and his uncle wants to own then it's them. Never really saw the demand for them to be groundbreaking in this day and age when there's plenty of companies doing that and producing great instruments the world over and we've never been more spoilt for choice - let Fender be Fender and make those boring old designs that sound pretty good and sell like hot cakes. That's why it's all the more disappointing when a company like Ashdown announces they're collaborating with a well known bass builder to produce a new line of basses and they turn out to be more Fender copies. Boooooooooooooooooooring.
