  1. It's the way to go for fretless IMO
  2. Or a more reliable alternative to a barrel jack. The only bass I own that has a locking jack came with it as stock, it's slightly more awkward to use than a regular jack but I do have the piece of mind that it most likely isn't going to crackle at a gig.
  3. Aside from my old Warwick (which funnily enough were known for jack issues) that's the only barrel jack I've not had a problem with so far. Tbh I think all side mounted jacks should just have a wider hole and a regular 14/" jack on a plate, that's what I have on my Aria with an East pre. Problem free and can fix it in 2 minutes with a screwdriver if it becomes unreliable. https://www.blackdogmusic.co.uk/product/recessed-oval-jack-plate-in-chrome-black-or-gold/
  4. They're all bad, even the good ones. I've had Switchcraft and Neutriks fail, in fact I think it was a Neutrik that gave up the ghost faster than any cheapo AliExpress copy. Had it in my backup bass which had maybe 10+ hours of use and just started crackling one day when I plugged it in, IMO they need to be redesigned with a grub screw you can use to tighten the connection. These appear on a few basses and seem to be a better option if you fancy doing some surgery and the edge of your bass has a suitable surface, I have one on my Ibanez and it's been rock solid: https://www.neutrik.com/en/product/nj3fp6c
  5. Definitely try and poach the singer. What are gigging opportunities like for pub rock where you are? They're becoming few and far between now where I live, far more gigs for more laid back music that can fit in with the small bar circuit.
  6. The best way to not have a band go down the inevitable blues/rock road is to just not have a guitarist tbh. Agree that this sounds like a bullet dodged, just be thankful it happened this early. I've lost count of the amount of bands I've been in that started out as dancey pop outfits for weddings/money gigs but slowly turn into old man pub rock bands. I've noticed our band Spotify list has had a recent influx of sweaty old rock added to it over the last few months so might be time to evaluate again.
  7. Excellent result, they're up there with £100+ gigbags IMO. I had two and only sold them because they were on the big side and I snagged a Gator Pro Go X on sale. Nice rigid bags which are several levels above your regular padded gigbag.
  8. Although a 15ft Trace speaker might be a bit too heavy for most of us, will bury that weedy little 18" you played through!
  9. Still working on my end, title is "Trace Elliot GP11 Graphic Pre Amplifier Mk 5 and Trace Elliot 15' Cabinet"
  10. Definitely surprised me here, when I clicked on a thread promising something completely different I never in a million years expected to see the 1,539,025th Jazz copy.
  11. Just spotted this on FB @Berserker, not too far from you. GP11 head for £100, 1518 cab for £35. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1742123363383337/
  12. Go the whole hog and get it re-topped with real flame? I think it looks cool tbh, would probably just look into making sure it doesn't get any worse.
  13. Yeah I don't like that either, see also:
  14. Just screams "generic cheapy" to me a bit like the Glarry headstocks, shame really as otherwise a bit of thought has gone into the overall styling.
  15. I have a Hartwood branded semi rigid gigbag for my mini acoustic bass, very cheap and good quality. Always thought they were an in house accessory brand for G4M but you can buy them elsewhere as well. The basses look quite cool and offer a nice variation on the yawnsome J/P copies. Headstocks are awful though.
  16. There's a Blake Bravo for sale on here at the moment: Can confirm they're massive, internal body width is around 40cm according to one of my old posts. Excellent quality, they were being cleared out a while back as the company went kaput so loads of us bought them on the cheap.
  17. They are still chucking parcels over gates though, they did it with two of mine and not even at the correct address.
  18. Even if you have a good local driver this may be fleeting, they have a pretty high turnover of staff due to working conditions and pay. Your next one (or substitute driver when the regular guy takes time off) might be like the driver who nicked my Sonicake pedal and threw my Shimano front chainring and Tonerider pickup over the fence of a completely different house so they sat outside in the rain for a couple of days. The company is trash and noting that some of their staff try to paper over these very deliberate cracks does not benefit anyone not working in Evri's upper management.
  19. Never had an issue selling 5 strings, I always price them to sell but not too cheap. Hope I've not just jinxed myself as I'll most likely be putting my EHB 5er up for sale soon!
  20. I had the HA3000 before getting the HA5500, preferred the 3000 really as it was so easy to dial mids in with the two knobs.
  21. Hartke never really managed to get the lightweight head thing right, certainly not in time for a big shift in the market where manufacturers needed one in their product line to compete. By the time they managed to get the TX600 out it quickly garnered a reputation for being surprisingly gutless for its power rating despite being bigger than other micro heads, no idea what they're like now but assume that's sorted. Shame really as I loved my old Hartke stack and only sold it because of the weight and the need to downsize our van. Having to cart a HA5500 and a ful XL stack across a muddy farmer's field at stupid o'clock in the morning was the turning point!
  22. When it comes to Hartke stacks @Dood has been there and got the t-shirt!
  23. Will most likely spend my lunchtime looking for another HA3000 on eBay now FFS.
  24. Gotta give some credit to those old Hartke heads too which just consistently deliver the goods.
  25. Nicely specced bass here for not a lot of money if you can collect - Markbass pre, Panga Panga and Walnut neck, licensed Hipshot Ultralites. Should be lightweight with a good low B as well. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/127101673259
