  1. I had a Thomann ABS case many moons ago and it was extremely good for the money, was much cheaper than the £56 they cost now though but are definitely made of strong stuff. Mine was run over by our fully loaded van (all old heavy PA gear and lights too!) and the Warwick inside it was completely unscathed, in fact aside from a crack in the ABS the case was fully functional afterwards too. I'd say that's a pretty good test! Also had one of the foam zip up ones (Warwick Rockcase) which was surprisingly good. If the Blake gigbags are suitable shoot me a pm, been thinking of offloading a couple as I just use them for storage now and I need to clear some basses out (to buy more obviously).
  2. Well I quite liked it! Some unnecessary (at times intrusive) fills for sure but he's just having a bit of fun at least they sounded crisp and tight and didn't wallow over the entire bottom end of the song, I always like that kind of drum sound.

  4. That's a lot of money for a cover, if you can find somewhere else that makes them then you can probably halve that. I got one made by Bacsew for my little EA cab and it came to £20/£25 (can't remember which, it was a while ago) and miles better than anything by Roqsolid: https://www.bacsew.co.uk He's down the road from me so I don't know how much postage is.

    I think those are passive overall tone with an active bass boost so maybe roll a little treble off of the tone control and boost bass a little. They aren't great basses but you should be able to get a usable sound out of it. What mid controls does your amp have?

  9. Terrible relic job that is instantly recognisable as artificial. What's the obsession with making basses look like they've been used to unblock a septic tank? It doesn't look old or well used, just fake and dirty.
  10. Probably best not look under any USA/MIM Fender Jazz pickguards if you have one, some of them have an Olympic sized swimming pool rout!
  11. That's the problem I had on small stages, I'm 6'6" and getting the cab pointing at my ears so I don't have to crank it too high was a priority. If you have the option to tilt at least one cab then it solves a lot of problems. I now use a small wedge monitor which is really flexible in terms of placement on stage.

I had the MarkBass Club 112 cabs and did exactly this with the top cab which was brilliant for monitoring and made sure the drummer could hear the bass properly too so it's definitely worth doing.   16. Exactly. I've always thought you find out what a company is really like when things go wrong and they have an obligation to fulfil, a single report of a customer who's had problems and has been treated properly makes me much more likely to spend my money with them.
  17. Btw I think there was a spate of complaints about the height adjustment part exploding, maybe a faulty batch where they tried to cut costs by using cheaper plastic? Mine gets left in the van and isn't babied at all (although looking at the price of them now maybe I should start!) and it looks much better quality than the ones in the OP's post.   18. I've repaired mine as it had the fault there the neck grabbing arms became disengaged from the internal mechanism, it's an ancient one which screws together so an easy fix. I also fixed our guitarist's double stand which had the sticky coating which got scrubbed with alcohol and the leg extending screw was worn so would no longer lock in place. I sorted that by grinding down some of the plastic on the thumb screw so it could penetrate deeper and make contact with the body of the stand again. I don't know if the older ones are better but mine is still going strong after well over a decade of use, I got it back when they were about £25 and its been a great buy.
  19. Gotoh 201B are always a good bet, I have the 404 which is also great if you need through body stringing. Not keen on the bulkier Badass/Kickass styles personally with the square saddles buy YMMV, the Gotohs are a nice way of getting a solid bridge but without the chunky, angled appearance.

  23. They're just objects, if they don't do what I want them to then I move it on and get something better or more suitable. Obviously has to be visually appealing and have the right feature set but anything past that is of little concern to me. I look after all my gear and have nice solid gigbags but that's not exclusive to musical instruments.
  24. I quite liked the EB combos, the ones with the LEDs instead of the silly VU meter. Unfortunately they are popular choices for practice room amps so they've usually been thrashed. I remember preferring one to an early Klystron 115 combo back in the day (the lower wattage one they released, think 350w or something). Now that had the famous Ashdown wooly tone down to a tee!

Yeah after mine had been back to the seller (wanna say G4M or Sound Control) a few times it was fine, never had any of the whine and it held out for a fair few years stripped of the outer case with the sharp corners rounded off and some rubber feet fitted. Loved the feature set and it was really well suited to a home practice head - could grab any bass and have a seperate eq for it with the press of a button plus it had lots of flashy lights which as everybody knows means serious pro audio. Wish I hadn't sold mine tbh as I could do with one now for home use.
