If you just need one big case rather than a few stackable ones then Peli do some massive cases with trolley handles and wheels, you'll pay for them as they're not at all cheap. Should last you a lifetime of gigging though and will hold value, used one here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Peli-Case-With-Foam-Wheels-and-handle-o-/223780060155?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10

Best affordable combos for small 'cocktail' gigs?
lemmywinks replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'd be looking at that little £80 Eden cab in the classifieds with a TC BAM200 (£105 from Bax). Super micro setup and the amp would fit in your coat pocket so nothing else to carry. For low volume and home use I've got a TC BH250 paired to an EA CXL110, the amp sounds ok as it is but with the Spectracomp patch it's far beefier and louder than it has any right to be, might be an idea if you need to get the maximum clout from a cheaper mini cab. -
Kinda defeats the point when he changes technique from bass to bass - muted thumb picking on a Sadowsky then next up some slapping on a Status. The KS and MTD basses sounded superb.
-
Ah I seem to remember Status having something to do with them, always fancied one since seeing a natural 5 string in the window of a local shop years ago. Wasn't even into Fender shapes at the time but it jumped out at me, looked great.

It's a poor implementation of a good idea, the T-Bass had it (the designer may currently be at Ashdown due to their TE connection) but it was a more elegant design.

Dan Lakin is known for his own take on Fender basses with inspiration from Musicman and G&L - the bass commonly associated with him has MM bridge and Jazz neck pickups, a high end preamp, 35" scale and other niceties like Ultralites and coil tapping options. It's an amalgamation of Leo Fender designs with a big dollop of his own vision to make them stand out and you don't need to look at the headstock to identify the 55 series bass. Fender also offer their own take on the crowded super Jazz market with high end appointments, a decent pre etc. I just don't think we need any more keenly priced passive P/J clones as there are numerous great options at every price point already. The Trace T-Bass was a cool take on a Jazz, these Ashdowns are just pretty boring IMO.

"Could have been better" is some of the most diplomatic language I can think of when picturing this atrocity!
-
Wow Fender knockoffs, that should make them stand out from the crowd!

Are you trying to load the bass amp specific toneprints or just the regular pedal ones? The ones for the BH amps are called "Toneprint Bass Amps", click on this then you get a selection of compatible effects which is limited but still pretty good for free. The regular ones don't work on the amp.

That looks like the one, metal plate at the end of the fingerboard too: "And next to that is an E Bass, which I built in collaboration with Ian Hancock; we went into production with it in 2000. It’s got Kent Armstrong pickups. I must say, it’s a cool bass, and it had some pretty good reviews." https://guitar.com/features/private-collections-nick-smith-bass-desires/ Familiar green flake paint! Apparently built by the luthier Ian Hancock, BC member @doctor_of_the_bass (presumably Nick Smith) had something to do with him according to the recommended luthier thread here: Listing has ended now but could have been an absolute steal at £150. -
Have a look at the M series?

Hard to look past the Sire V3 for £300: https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/electric-bass-guitars/sire-marcus-miller-v3-5-string-bass-guitar-natural-mahogany?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqLPvoOrJ5gIVFeDtCh14WgVOEAQYASABEgI6dvD_BwE

Spotted the TC BAM200 for £105 on Baxmusic the other day if anybody wanted a pocket head, they're usually around £120: https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/bass-guitar-amp-head/tc-electronic-bam200-bass-guitar-amplifier-head?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvvja6IzF5gIVBbTtCh1FkQSKEAQYASABEgK_9fD_BwE Nuts how little you can pay for amps these days.

Warwick to become 'Exclusive Licensee' to Sadowsky!
lemmywinks replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
Sadowsky et al are basically Jazz clones though, they don't just take cues from the body shape they copy it closely. Not saying that's a bad thing as everybody copies everybody else - Fender didn't exactly design that famous headstock themselves either. They have developed the design into something of their own but there's no denying what they are and they still have that core Jazz tone in there. The Streamer/Spector isn't even in my top 5 Warwick shapes (it goes Fortress, Infinity, Dolphin, Corvette, Thumb if you're interested!), it's better than the Vampire, Katana and Buzzard though. Say what you want about Warwicks but they aren't a one trick pony that relies entirely on licensed NS designs, they've forged their own path over the years. -

I thought it looked familiar too but I can't place where I've seen it before! -
Saddle alignment? Naahh..... why bother?
lemmywinks replied to NikNik's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
That's what I mean - they all look like someone has taken the time to construct the neck/body laminates then they've been handed over to a complete halfwit for the rest. So odd! -
Saddle alignment? Naahh..... why bother?
lemmywinks replied to NikNik's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Assuming it was all made by the same person it isn't a complete wreck, someone at some point would have had to build a working through neck and everything else on it seems straight. That's if it isn't chopped down from an already existing bass for some bizarre reason. -
That's seriously cheap with some very well thought out features, if I hadn't purchased a different rehearsal head recently I would have bought myself one for Christmas! The tuner/mute function is something which should be on every micro head IMO as are aux/headphone jacks. Also great to see dual speakon combo sockets when some micro heads opt for a single speakon only or even worse just 1/4" jacks. I'd like to see more manufacturers doing clever stuff with the tone controls like on some TC amps where the bass cuts at 80hz but boosts around 100-110hz. In fact I'd like a phone app where you could just draw an eq curve across the screen and your amp would implement it!

Warwick to become 'Exclusive Licensee' to Sadowsky!
lemmywinks replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
Some of Spectors original designs they managed to come up with when Ned Steinberger stopped answering the phone: Can't help but think I've seen some of those designs before, can anybody help me out here? -
Warwick to become 'Exclusive Licensee' to Sadowsky!
lemmywinks replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
Kramer could have easily pursued Warwick for royalties, they didn't. Did HPW actually lose a lawsuit? I thought he just agreed to license the design after he was caught making his own version, paying Spector (who also licensed the body shape) and Ned Steinberger (the guy who actually designed it). By the time Spector got the rights back he effectively had no case as the Streamer had changed enough to not be an infringement, the raked back tuners and different headstock design happened way before this btw. G&L are Leo's developed versions of the basses he produced at Fender, he changed the parts which would infringe copyright. They are his basses, why would they (or Musicman) be considered Fender clones when all they share is a similar body shape? The weird thing is when you pick up a Warwick and a Spector then feel completely different, if you were blindfolded and sat down with both of them you would never guess they were very similar shapes. When you plugged them in you would hear a massive difference. Did Spector ever pay Gibson for nicking the T-Bird or Fender for pinching Tele/Jazz shapes btw? Or did they change enough for them to be considered different basses? -
Warwick to become 'Exclusive Licensee' to Sadowsky!
lemmywinks replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
They're high end Jazz basses, tons of makers do this and they're all ripping Fender off. Doesn't matter how good the basses are, they're still cloning someone else's idea and if they went under you could buy a Celinder or something. In fact Celinder even cloned Sadowsky's headstock so you can get even closer to one! Aside from the ripped off NS designed body shape on one of their basses Warwicks have nothing in common with Spectors, you can't make one sound or feel like the other. -
Seems well made with decent components (Kent Armstrong KA4 pups I think, nice Gotohs) and the paint job looks decent. A bit odd looking with the sheet metal covers and odd bridge placement, is this just a home build or something else? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-GUITAR/124014159480?hash=item1cdfd1e678:g:rNgAAOSw1MNdxB8n 18v preamp, home made?
