Seems well made with decent components (Kent Armstrong KA4 pups I think, nice Gotohs) and the paint job looks decent. A bit odd looking with the sheet metal covers and odd bridge placement, is this just a home build or something else? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-GUITAR/124014159480?hash=item1cdfd1e678:g:rNgAAOSw1MNdxB8n 18v preamp, home made?

Saddle alignment? Naahh..... why bother?
lemmywinks replied to NikNik's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The nut looks like it's had some odd work done to it, seems like the original slot for the A string is still there but somebody has made a new one in completely the wrong place and used that instead: Seeing as the rest of the bass looks reasonably well built maybe the correct holes are hiding underneath the bridge saddles and the same cackhanded bodger who did the nut has moved them too? Possibly after too many beers during a night out in Lagney? -
I'd keep it. It's probably the best looking bass on this forum so worth it just for bragging rights! When you get a fretless that's just "right" and sounds exactly like what you hear in your head then you should keep it, the fact that it looking the way it does should reinforce that. Definitely worth a few months of playing/gigging IMO.

Warwick to become 'Exclusive Licensee' to Sadowsky!
lemmywinks replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
The used values have been gradually creeping up over the last few years, a lot of people forget that a German Corvette with active eq sold new for around £600 and before that a Fortress was £900, used prices for the budget German ranges are now circa £400-£600 and I've seen some sell on eBay for close their new price too. Even the lowly Streamer Standard BO goes for more than it did a few years ago. If anything the modern Rockbass lines have added value to the older German ones as getting a new "proper" Warwick is beyond the reach of a lot of players, certainly wasn't the case when I paid £598 for mine! I know this because I've been looking at used ones (got the itch) and people seem to have put a bit more value on them recently, I can remember a German Corvette $$ being well under £700 used, now you pay that for a Rockbass and are looking at closer to a grand for a German one. As for Sadowsky - why all the fuss? They're just bolt on Jazz copies at the end of the day, loads of builders make them. Last time I played one of the modern Rockbass range it was a fantastic instrument, I don't doubt Warwick can build a top class Jazz copy in the same factory, in fact given the investment they have made in mass produced CNC equipment it's hard to imagine any Chinese factory doing any better. If Roger wants to outsource his brand there then they are probably his best bet. -
Went for just under £120 including delivery. 😂

They did another random non-album track which was great:

Tell Me Baby Hump De Bump C'Mon Girl That's it for me, possibly Storm in a Teacup too. Has about the same amount of decent songs as By The Way but somehow spread out over a double album. This was around the time Keidis really started to grate on me, tbh One Hot Minute was the last album of theirs I truly enjoyed all the way through, tons of underrated songs on that whereas I always thought Californication was half filler half killer.

Get a used German Corvette, super basses.

I assume this is some sort of bitsa?
lemmywinks replied to alyctes's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I can remember looking for one of these when I was 15 and a big Nirvana fan, loads of them had the beaky bit of the headstock snapped off in fact IIRC one of Krist's was snapped here too. Weirdly most you see nowadays have a complete headstock. Ended up settling for an RD Artist instead. -
Probably quieter than expected?

To be fair it doesn't have the widespread appeal of the two we currently do, our guitarist is the one who keeps suggesting it not me! Annoying that the bassist doesn't bother to play along on 99% of the official video as she's a really good player. Toured with Sting, Wayne Shorter and the B52s according to her wiki. The only Xmas songs which guarantee a full dancefloor for us have been Mariah and Slade.
-
Slade and Mariah for us, Fairytale is my least favourite Xmas song to play. This one has the most interesting bassline though:

No way would I be doing that gig unless there was a suitable fee involved. The only choice would be to tell them now or on January 1st which would depend entirely on how petty I was feeling.
-
Like the green one tbh, what is it?
-
That's even brighter than I remember, should come with a warning! My little Leopard Gecko died a few years ago, never knew her age (she had two owners before us) but she was at least 19. Got a Coleonyx Elegans who is a great little guy and a pair or Ambystoma Opacum now.

Any pics? That thing was nuts (in a good way!) Do you still have lizards btw?

The question was answered by a moderator in the first reply, pretty sure the OP got the info he needed.

Warmoth did dinky little bodies didn't they?

Ask the seller if he has the leftover bass neck and strat body going spare!

Bit of an odd one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ba-55-5-String-Bass-Guitar-short-scale-partscaster-style-eccentric-funky/254450366052?hash=item3b3e6c7664:g:CzoAAOSwLABd8Nzs At last a genuine reason for splaying the tuners, there's no other way they would fit!

Tried to pick the book up but the edges were sharp against my hands then the binding started to unravel.

If you have a big gig coming up then ask your local music shop if they have amps you can hire or scout local selling pages for a cheap old combo, will buy you some time and take the pressure off at least. TC service centres are here: https://www.tcelectronic.com/brand/tcelectronic/store-finder?type=POS&division=CREA&isoCode=US#googtrans(en|en)

It would explain the woodwork, probably carved the whole thing with a shiv made from a toothbrush handle and a safety razor.

Careful, if you say the R word out loud in front of the mirror 3 times John Hall appears and files a petty lawsuit against you.
