What is it with relic'd new necks that they always look like someone has unblocked a toilet with them?

Ipad Mini Gen 1 still ok for Mackie Master Fader app?
lemmywinks replied to lemmywinks's topic in Accessories and Misc
Yes still very much usable and will be a much needed stopgap hopefully. My first gig with it coincided with our guitarist making up stereo cables for everyone (based on your recommendation in the in ear thread) so having direct control was incredibly useful. After postage and buying a replacement screen protector it came to about £29 in total, finally got to use the lightning cables I bought in error months ago too! -
Yeah I read that, shape still looks a little off to me. Like I said I don't know much about Fenders though.

Saw that the other day, thought the headstock looked a little off at first. Might just be my eyes or the angle but the bump beneath the Fender logo seems to protrude more than it should, doesn't flow like a Tele headstock should to me and looks like it's been chopped down from a full size headstock. Here's the seller's: Here's a Google image: Might just be imagining it though, I don't really know much about Fenders!

Ipad Mini Gen 1 still ok for Mackie Master Fader app?

Ok used this last night, worked fine for adjusting my monitor mix and moving the faders was lag free. Was a bit of delay when swiping across the faders to access higher ones but it was usable. Came in really handy as I had a stereo monitor mix for the first time and got it sounding crystal clear really quickly. -

Ipad Mini Gen 1 still ok for Mackie Master Fader app?

Just noticed it had a screen protector on and the crack didn't look deep, removed it and the screen is fine underneath so I'll probably whack it up for sale and double my money. Every cloud and all! -
Ipad Mini Gen 1 still ok for Mackie Master Fader app?

It's the same spec as an iPad 2 so I'm not holding out much hope! The monitor mix I have at the moment is largely fine, it's mainly just for having the ability to turn down certain things if they become fatiguing like the snare and guitar, things I could move away from when I used a monitor but am kind of trapped with using in ears. I want it to be accessible quickly which is why I don't want to rely on someone else to do it, will see how it goes anyway. -

Yeah I'm fully expecting it to be unusable but I don't have to send the iPad back until next week so might as well give it a go. -

Will do thanks. This thing only has 512mb of ram! I expect MF4 will get considerably slower when I connect it to a desk and it has to start doing things? -

Ah ok, thanks for the help. I'll see how Master Fader 4 works on Saturday, hopefully it's bearable! -

Gonna assume the latest one. messaged guitarist and without checking he thinks it's 4.6.2. Would Master Fader 3 work? -

Ok so I managed to snag an iPad Mini 4 with 16gb storage fully working but with a cracked screen for £23, however when it turned up it had magically transformed into an iPad Mini 1 with 64gb storage. It's going back obviously but on Saturday I'm going to trial it with Master Fader 3 and 4 which were still on the App Store, also put My Fader on it which I was able to download by selecting the show iPhone apps thingy so I can see if these are going to be suitable for monitor adjustments. If it's fast enough with legacy apps and still has the limited functionality I need then it might solve a problem. -
There's a 5 string Steinberger Spirit just appeared on the UK Facebook groups if a full bodied bass isn't essential, in Hull for £200.

We don't have a dedicated sound engineer although our guitarist is very good at it (he engineers for other bands). It's pretty set and forget really, if you want to hear yourself more you can turn yourself up in your monitor mix rather than turning your amp up so the FoH doesn't really change much. The Behringer X18 is £320 and my in ear setup cost £55, having a scout on eBay you cab grab an RCF sub for around £300. The standard of gear available for a cripplingly low budget is crazy high. For weddings we used to hire a PA and engineer but setting up and getting everything sounding great is so quick and easy now we don't bother, more money for us and the gear has paid for itself. On gig nights I walk out of my front door carrying just a single gigbag, it's brilliant!
-
Well the simplest way to do it is a decent PA with subs and the band using in ears. No amps bleeding into drum or vocal mics, total control to whoever is running the desk, everybody can hear when they need to and the audience get the best full range sound possible. Literally takes two cables per band member.

Someone did that on here a bit ago, looked weird at first but one of those things you get used to. Probably a good candidate seeing as you're more likely to get a donor one with the headstock snapped off than most other designs! EDIT: Here: Seems to sort the neck dive, don't see Neepheid and Ou7hined on here now, where did they go?

Had a look and you can get reasonably priced Nova hardware on eBay, seller is in Brazil though but he posts on Talkbass and is legit, his stuff appears on some beautiful custom builds: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/184028293047?var=691720856746 Can choose between 18mm and 19mm string spacing too. Definitely a lot cheaper than the Hipshot and ABM versions! Might be worth seeing if you could get something built or converted using that bridge.

Hot Natural finishes, particularly darker ones Black Hardware Dark fingerboards Warwicks (rounded body shapes in general) Not Glitzy sparkly finishes White scratchplates Gibsons Singlecuts Red basses (just no) Precisions (booooooooring)

Might be worth seeing if anybody has a Prosebass/Funnbass knocking around or just shoot him a message and see if he's still building instruments: https://www.basschat.co.uk/profile/3436-prosebass/Always regretted not ordering one of those, they looked cool and were far too cheap! The problem you have with wanting a headless 5 is that there is no cheap version of the hardware, lots about for 4 strings though.

Usually getting a drummer on in ears can make a big difference in taming their volume. Won't help if they just enjoy playing obnixiously loud but when they can hear themselves clearly it can help immensely.
-
I don't think sub(s) are OTT for pubs btw, sounds much better with them than without and sounding good is the aim of the game so given the advances in portability and low price I don't see why earning bands would gig without them. Gives you the flexibility to do big venues without hiring anything in too. We use the live soundcheck facility on our desk (record your soundcheck and then play it back while standing out front to fine tune levels) and the difference the subs make means we use them everywhere, it just sounds so much better.
-
I did exactly that a few weeks ago, space was extremely limited so I put my QSC on a Gramma pad on top of one of our subs pointing back at me, worked great. Can have my own monitor mix without having to rely on other peoples' stage sounds being the correct volume. Seeing as I didn't have to bother about positioning an amp on the floor it effectively gave me double the room on stage so I could move away if the snare got too loud etc.
