  1. Reply with this: "When you hit that C# at the end of the 1st verse could you tighten your diaphragm a little as it would really improve your vocal delivery. Also could you eat rye bread before you arrive at rehearsal as it really gives your voice an oaky timbre,"
  2. Terrible relic job that is instantly recognisable as artificial. What's the obsession with making basses look like they've been used to unblock a septic tank? It doesn't look old or well used, just fake and dirty.
  3. Probably best not look under any USA/MIM Fender Jazz pickguards if you have one, some of them have an Olympic sized swimming pool rout!
  4. That's the problem I had on small stages, I'm 6'6" and getting the cab pointing at my ears so I don't have to crank it too high was a priority. If you have the option to tilt at least one cab then it solves a lot of problems. I now use a small wedge monitor which is really flexible in terms of placement on stage.
  5. It seems like this is the beginning of a much longer story...
  6. Google Rockbitch. Makes Iggy Pop look like Seasame Street!
  7. I had the MarkBass Club 112 cabs and did exactly this with the top cab which was brilliant for monitoring and made sure the drummer could hear the bass properly too so it's definitely worth doing. I used one of these to rest the amp on the top cab which worked a treat: https://www.amazon.co.uk/IKEA-BRADA-Laptop-support-black/dp/B00GMM74T0
  8. Default answer would be a set of Licensed Ultralites if you want to swap tuners out.
  9. Exactly. I've always thought you find out what a company is really like when things go wrong and they have an obligation to fulfil, a single report of a customer who's had problems and has been treated properly makes me much more likely to spend my money with them.
  10. Btw I think there was a spate of complaints about the height adjustment part exploding, maybe a faulty batch where they tried to cut costs by using cheaper plastic? Mine gets left in the van and isn't babied at all (although looking at the price of them now maybe I should start!) and it looks much better quality than the ones in the OP's post. EDIT: Seems like it's a known fault and have been replacing affected stands so shoot them a message: http://www.herculesstands.co.uk/home/contact/708.0.4.3
  11. I've repaired mine as it had the fault there the neck grabbing arms became disengaged from the internal mechanism, it's an ancient one which screws together so an easy fix. I also fixed our guitarist's double stand which had the sticky coating which got scrubbed with alcohol and the leg extending screw was worn so would no longer lock in place. I sorted that by grinding down some of the plastic on the thumb screw so it could penetrate deeper and make contact with the body of the stand again. I don't know if the older ones are better but mine is still going strong after well over a decade of use, I got it back when they were about £25 and its been a great buy.
  12. Gotoh 201B are always a good bet, I have the 404 which is also great if you need through body stringing. Not keen on the bulkier Badass/Kickass styles personally with the square saddles buy YMMV, the Gotohs are a nice way of getting a solid bridge but without the chunky, angled appearance.
  13. Some older members might remember the crazy green Pedulla with matching strings that a forumite called Shockwave modded, looked amazing. Wonder what happened to that.
  14. Out of interest do you know what that preamp is? Looking for something like that but don't need the entire assembly.
  15. One of these: Through one of these: I also got one of these: Sounded bloody awful if I'm honest.
  16. They're just objects, if they don't do what I want them to then I move it on and get something better or more suitable. Obviously has to be visually appealing and have the right feature set but anything past that is of little concern to me. I look after all my gear and have nice solid gigbags but that's not exclusive to musical instruments.
  17. I quite liked the EB combos, the ones with the LEDs instead of the silly VU meter. Unfortunately they are popular choices for practice room amps so they've usually been thrashed. I remember preferring one to an early Klystron 115 combo back in the day (the lower wattage one they released, think 350w or something). Now that had the famous Ashdown wooly tone down to a tee!
  18. Yeah after mine had been back to the seller (wanna say G4M or Sound Control) a few times it was fine, never had any of the whine and it held out for a fair few years stripped of the outer case with the sharp corners rounded off and some rubber feet fitted. Loved the feature set and it was really well suited to a home practice head - could grab any bass and have a seperate eq for it with the press of a button plus it had lots of flashy lights which as everybody knows means serious pro audio. Wish I hadn't sold mine tbh as I could do with one now for home use.
  19. The Superfly? Yeah they had them made overseas incredibly cheaply leading to high failure rates and then everywhere sold them off at £199 to get rid of stock, at which point Ashdown kinda washed their hands of them. I bought one, sent it back a few times (can't remember where I bought it but they were very good - it arrived with one side down IIRC) and finally got one that worked OK and didn't overheat after I removed the useless outer casing. Got a lot of use out of it in the end (never trusted it on an actual gig though) until one side went down again at which point I sold it for £60 and didn't buy an Ashdown product again. Interestingly the famous Ashdown customer service mysteriously disappeared when I needed support with that product despite them previously answering questions about its usage pretty quickly, funny that - maybe they were all on holiday or something? There was some comically late damage control by their rep on here a while back but I think the amps had all exploded/been binned by then. Great idea though, shame about the quality control and design.
  20. In the main it's pretty bulky and heavy gear, commonplace so if you want one you have a lot of choice and wasn't particularly expensive to begin with aside from the fancy stuff. See Peavey, Hartke and Warwick also. While my experience with Ashdown gear wasn't brilliant (it's the only kit that consistently let me down) I did use my Superfly as part of my home/rehearsal rig for a number of years when I couldn't be bothered setting my main head up and it sounded good. There's some Warwick gear at our rehearsal room as well which kicks, all cheap to buy so If you can be bothered carting it about then enjoy your bargain bass rigs! I put my Hartke stack up for sale after lumping it across two fields at 3am after a crazy wedding gig so no more of that for me.
  21. Am 100% stealing that!
  22. As said above - never send an item to an address other than the one specified by Paypal.
  23. For farmers/bricklayers with larger than average posteriors? Surely MDP isn't branching out into furniture conversions? 😱
  24. I wonder why he puts that video up on all his bass auctions, it's a completely different bass which sounds absolutely terrible.
  25. There's a new bass, seems like this one took a bit more work to bolt together due to the body and neck being completely incompatible. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-guitar-with-EB3-single-and-Musicman-twin-coil-pickups/193044925422?hash=item2cf25fcbee:g:mVUAAOSwDyldUWfF Here's the neck pocket:
