1. That's just silly. I bet he developed that technique jut to show off on youtube. I mean, who would grow a white beard just to rest on their chest while playing guitar? Pardon? Bass player?.....
2.
...her mate told me it's because last time you were round there you stole her pants.
ooh.....can I borrow them.....?
3. can't believe ppl here have never heard pricetag! I don't frequent the charts, but this song was everywhere.
4.
Four string set up specifically for that tuning... .145 bottom string
really? I can't imagine the note being distinguishable. Must be that very angry kind of music? Ooh, I wouldn't enjoy playing floppy strings, but we are all different!
5. would help if pl put artists, or is it just me that only recognises about 20 % of some sets?
6. According to Sickapedia, Mustang Sally is to be rename ***%$£!!! !**X* sorry but it's an awful awful song haway man!!! I have been forbidden from revealing my bands set list for fear of people copying our secret recipe. Ok, ok you guessed. Mustang..er....***%$£!!! !**X* 25 times plus twice more as encores.
7. We do it as part of a medley. dropped it for a while...but it has crept back in. I enjoy it. Muting strings and it's a great one for testing your tightness with the bashy one in the band.
8. Tone., and a good action. Being left handed i have played some monsters upside-down (BC Rich..ugh!) because ive had little choice, so anything above that I have to be grateful. I suffer back problems from time to time. Ive stood on stage almost static to not cancel a gig. Played with fractured arms and feet. Tone, and the chance to just play.
9. Check that the connections inside the bass haven't dislodged? My Wal, if the case falls over, can sometimes lose one or two string volumes if the neck pick up or bridge pick up connections have disconnected slightly. Maybe that Warwicks are the same? Just looked inside my Corvette and the little white connectors from the end of the pots could possible come loose. It's a possibility, otherwise take it to a guitar tech. I state the obvious!
10.
Low A...........
On a 5 string I would imagine, otherwise an E string would look like a washing line!
11. Used to do it. Never had time to detune..works ok without but definitely do it if you can. Detuning gives a BIg sound!.
12. What an opening shot!!!...oops.. anyway a great slot! I think she is great. A very slick performance by all. Well done mate. If you ever fall ill because some unknown bassist tampers with your sat nav and sends you the wrong way , I will fill in for you!
13. Way to go! I've performed on Singapore TV, but there's no place like home for exposure.
14. Like it mate. Good chorus....as good as some of the stuff making it. keep on plugging!
15. My son's semi-acoustic needed the jack input area of his guitar repaired due to standing on the cable and jerking the jack on an angle. I'd say it would have been £3.99 well worth spent.
16.
Many, but the one I really hate is 'You Can Call Me All', by Paul Simon. I never liked Paul Simon, but the drummer in one of my bands is a massive fan and on top of it he wants to sing this song. I already told everybody I absolutely hate it, but I guess the more I say it, the more they want to play it, so I gave up.
with the bolloxy bass 'solo'. half reversed (or compressed to hell, cant remember). I used to play that one too. You poor bugger.
17. Eruption van Halen. guitar wazzo solo bollox, next to nothing to do for me n drummer.....oh and then I have to ask the audience to applaud him.
18. apologies if,as I had assumed, this had been covered before, But I tried searching to no avail. will go back and read all. Much appreciated.
19. So do the more expensive guitar cables really make that much difference? I'm not just talking about the guarantee, durability etc. I mean the signal/sound? Which would you recommend? 20 ft, I will pay no more than £30 A Planet Waves lead failed on the guitarist in my band last night. The lifetime guarantee meant nothing to him as he lost 60 seconds worth of a song. Straight in the bin, vowing to never buy one again (approx 3 months old) appreciate input (pun intended) Thanks
20. Great! It can be hit and miss with Squires. I bought a P/J Squier.(note unexpected spelling!) installed some Dimarzios.... Just didn't do it for me. I just can't get away with the Fender type volume/tone controls. So used to looking at the numbers on my Wal dials I guess. Anyway it doesn't matter if its a Fende-'real' or a Squier, if it inspires youand sounds the way you want it, then that's all that you could ask for.
21.
Not my type of bass playing at all but I can happily sit and listen (watch) this and admire his dedication, style and feel.
fair comment. I can see why some people get annoyed listening to 'over-slapping', though the technique has to be commended for the rhythm more. I have no intentions in trying to play in Manring's style any more than I want to slap beyond what I feel is enough for me. But this is indeed, an intoxicating piece of music performed by a virtuoso of a quite unique style.
22. In the age of MP3's, cd's etc. My son has taken a keen interest in vinyl. He enjoys watching the Black Keys, Bowie and the Beatles rotating on his turntable as the thin sound comes from the speakers. ?? ! Yeah, Alice Cooper's Schools OUt with its fold-out cover (into a school desk with paper knickers inside sleeve) Zep 3' rotating wheel and Rolling Stone's actual zip on the cover.. Great presentation with the songs. Nothing nowadays, compares.
23. Andy Fraser/ Simon Kirke. Grooves away, and slightly funky. Simplicity. In the pocket. http://youtu.be/3qK8O3UoqN8
24.
IMO the ease at which music is available on the internet has completely devalued music and taken a lot of the passion out of it, a classic case of more is less
here here. way back when, we saved our pocket money to buy a vinyl album. I remember a gang of us going to town to buy my very first album. It felt like a monumental event. Now, kids click, download, listen to half a song then go searching for something else they don't really want.. 'Spoiled for choice' spoiled the whole point of music collections.
25. This is bass, not as we know it. But you have to admire the execution, melody and non-mainstream techniques used. beautiful. oh and there's a description of gear used in the vid.
