1. So, 80 views and not even a single comment...ha! Well she sounded fantastic last night. oh, and so did the bass ;O)
2. I wouldn't risk thinking I had managed to fix it myself unless I have had experience of such things. I've just had a Les Paul headstock repaired. Well, actually the heel of the headstock. I nasty crack it was and the guy only charged £40 for the repair. If the 'split' looks like it is in danger of travelling you need to sort it asap.I would imagine any more knocks won't help, and who knows what the tension is doing, as pointed out by Doctor J. At least get quotes mate.
3. Monckeyman, sounds ike a normal band night if you ask me! I love how people who run these nights haven't got a f***** clue, or care, how much time and effort goes into putting on a show. Oh, and the agents fee. tell me about it. £$%^&!!!! Our night was going great until some drum stumbled into out PA and manage to knock the full-range mid (all 5.ft of it) off a bass bin and for it to land on his back. Luckily he was a very big lad, so broke it's fall without breaking his back. Thst's showbiz.
4. Well done whoever you are! Marlowe .....haha
5. E_D G snapped A string, so spare. That was some spot.
6. I'm off to Spain for a while soon so shifting some stuff. Including this lovely German made Warwick Corvette Standard. Bought it from a Basschat forum member and have to say it has a knock-out sound! I remember smiling uncontrollably the first time i gigged it. Great definition of notes with a meaty bottom end. Do I have to explain what you already know about these basses? Generally in great condition. Just a few minor dings (prob guitar stand) around the sides of the body. The neck is totally unmarked, as is the headstock. If the bass is still here when I get back from Spain it's no big deal, so.... I am keeping the price on the appetising side of £400...asking £390 + £25 P&P. Comes with quality padded Warwick gig bag, factory supplied Allen keys. pm me if you want more pics! 7. you need to state a price...and pics?
8. I did Delilah just so I could do the dance! Big fan of Alex. A great bunch of character misfits blended together
9. I haven't read all of the posts on this thread. I would say DON'T put rounds on your fretless. I did, had to have the fingerboard skimmed 3 timed because those little marks eventually become deeper and caused horrible buzzes, eventually, new fingerboard. You would have to have an incredibly light touch on your fingerboard to reduce the amount of time it would take to wear down your fingerboard, Unless, as someone else might have mentioned, you go the Jaco way and have your board coated with resin or whatever. halfwounds, flatwounds..but not roundwounds
10. you must have a bassist by now??
11. By having made a previous 'too early' entry and learned from it.
12. "unable to identify it's playability" what does that mean? ????????????????
13. That headstock is causing someone's antique wardrobe to be lop-sided
14. Had it been left handed I would have had it, but I have a R/H playing upside down already.
15. So how are the acts chosen for LWJH??? There are often some gems (The Pierces for instancebeautiful misic, beautiful girls ) and some absolute stinkers ( Metallica and Lou Reed )
16. Lovely grain
17.
Try listening to some of the fretless Wal playing on YT. Does that in any way lessen the quality of the instrument?
Nope!! Good call. I love Rickenbacker guitars, but tried a couple of the basses ans been massively unimpressed. But, I guess as a Wal player , it's horses for courses.
18. 1 bass........I snapped a string on the only feckn night I took just one bass to a gig. had to play 40 minutes with a missing A string. At least get a Westfield as back-up!
19.
just ask him out for a coffee date or something. it would be simpler than this whole bass switching to get his attention schtick
I think, my dear friend, you have got the wrong end of the schtick.
20. I'll second that bump. I have one which has a great neck on it. Not gigged it, but sounds great in the house. And yours Delberthot? Action, sound, weight etc. ?? Might need some positives on your post
21.
I want one
http://youtu.be/09xLVuEmCHU
22.
I love my Westfield. I was all set to get a "proper" 4 string this year but, in the mean time, I took the time to set my Westfield up properly and put some decent strings on it. It made a huge difference and I've decided that unless my ideal Bass were to come along at the right price, then I shan't bother with another.
Brilliant! I
23.
This kind of interests me not only in the sound mans perspective , but also in the £/tone/ playability argument I really don't get the £000's spent on stuff that is way above the ability of the player that spends it, or the ear that hears it IYSWIM If you have money to burn , then hell yeah , spend it on a bass . but does it really help the tone/playabilty of the kit, does it make that much difference ? is it a confidence/crutch issue , or am I so naive to think that the kit I have gives me decent bangs for the buck ??? I have played some right knock-about basses live, and I just tell myself that it's doing the job fine, and never had anyone say otherwise. I sometimes think that we all get faaaaaar too anal on this forum. I have had Dimarzio pick-ups fitted, upgraded bridges, and nothing made me say "wow! what a difference!" It really does have a lot to do with how you play. Too much Placebo effect going on with high end basses.Don't get me wrong, there can be a big difference in the immediacy when it comes to playability, but any player worth their salt should get to grips with a Westfield pretty fast, for instance. Quality amps are a different thing, but the bass is our first point of contact with the sound, so it's a lot to do with the player.

My daughter has a sixty quid Westfield P bass. Its a brilliant piece of kit and I'd be happy to gig it anytime if it wasn't PINK!
Pink...so what! .tell that to Marlowe DK.
24. Ovankol neck, Wenge fingerboard, apparently. Nice, very nice, but it's in the hands of another owner soon.
