7. So the courier who's supposed to be collecting my brand spanking new bass to send back to the shop for a ding repair is too busy to come today. Perhaps he's in aberdeen too!
 8.
I've phoned, it's on route

Apparently it's still in Aberdeen
Interesting.......how does that work then?
 9.
ARGH!!!!!
If they tell you it's because of a labelling issue they're telling porkies. I think that's their standard excuse when they run out of time.
 10.
Maybe that works for you but I go for the old lean it against a car method.
Good point, must try that.
 11.
Jake, I'm not quite sure I caught how it was you wanted DBs to be kept. What was it again?
Oh for Christ's sake, STOOD UP!
 12.
Ordered yesterday at 2.50pm, arrived this morning at 9! Well packaged too, just great service.
Yep same sort of service for me.
 13.
At one level, that's excellent news Michael. At a very different level, I start a thread complaining about "Lazarus" topics and Gawdelpus you actually revive your own two-year-old thread!
And you get caught into replying
 14.
Waiting for my Sterling to arrive, every vehicle noise is met with me jumping up and looking out of the window like a child. COME ON!!!!!
Hope it's better than my last NBD on Friday. Waited all day at work, the bass was shipped to home address where no-one was home. Had to wait to Saturday!!
 15. So for a DB newbie, what is the best way to store a DB? Stood up?
 16.
Well, after many years without a double bass, I bought one yesterday! Yippee. I was so excited. I took the bass in it's padded gig bag out of the house of the guy I had bought it from, leaned the instrument against my car while I got my car key out to unlock the remote central locking. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion as the bass slipped sideways and the headstock thumped into the kerb. Open gig bag to see the strings flopping around the fingerboard and the headstock broken off! Aaaaagh! Oh well. It's a clean break, and I called Jimmy Moon at Moon Guitars in Glasgow (Jimmy is a double bassist himself). I've to take the bass in to him today (Tuesday) and leave itvwith him to be repaired. I guess my wait for a double bass continues? Hahaha
When I took my battered to be trashed DB to be repaired, the guy said that effectively all it was was wood and glue and therefore all repairs are possible. In my case he was dead right!
 17. Three one trick ponies
 18. Welcome on board
 19. I gig the ultimate one trick pony - Gibson T-Birds, full volume never touch the tone. Use one alternative amp setting and that's it.
 20. Just reading the post about the guitar stolen in Poland and got me thinking. I really must take some quality close up pics of dings, special marks and must note down the serial numbers of my basses in the event of any of them being stolen from home, gig etc That's all!
 21.
I wouldn't claim to be sticking it to the man, I just think that the concept of the 'Tribute' act sucks bigtime. It used be thought of as naff, now it somehow has become acceptable - I just don't get it myself. I've seen the real Floyd, I don't want to see pretend version, Australian or otherwise... Covers, well ok, if that's what you want to do, go for...it would bore me to death personally, but that's just me. I'd rather have the day job tbh. I might be going off topic a little here, but 25 (ish) years ago when I started playing, you could get gigs in pubs doing original stuff, and even get paid for it. Now it seems you can't. How many versions of Mustang Sally do people really want to hear? Do people really want to just hear the same old sh*t, or is it just a safe option for the publicans? Less pubs these days so more competition I guess. But if there are less and less opportunities for original stuff to be played live, what will the tribute/cover acts in 20 years time be playing?
Or perhaps there's loads of crap originals bands that people don't want to listen to? And yes the average pub go-er does want to hear the same old sh*te, or certainly they seem to.
 22. Got a black one with flats on it. I love it!
