1.
Have you forgotten something Lysdexia?
Yeah the pics of this particular bass are rubbish, not up to your usual standard
 2. Me. Spent ages gassing for an 09 Fender Jazz, bought one new, played it live once, moved it on within about 3 months and lost about £40 on the deal, but bought my T-bird on the back of that sale, so not too bad. Trouble is I get caught up in reading about other people's gas attacks, strictly second hand for me from now on!

 5. Cheer up, Jeez you might actually enjoy it. If you've got such a downer on the rest of the band, don't bother and leave them, better not to do a gig than do it half heartedly. Maybe I've read your post wrong, but I found it really quite depressing, there are people on here who'd kill for an opportunity to gig, you have one and aren't happy.
 6.
Im sure nobody would think of playing live without amplification. Acoustic bass are notorious for their lack of decibels. But what are they like to actually play.
I like 'em. Mine has a fairly big body so physically it's a challenge, but it makes you play properly imo, no shortcuts in terms of fretting or plucking. So in theory helps when playing a standard bass. Feedback is an issue but with proper setting up and a sound hole plug no major issues. Just like all these things, needs getting use to, but I do like the idea of just picking up a bass and playing rather than having to plug in etc. Major issue than needs addressing on new bass is the action, you do seem limited on how much flexibilty you have setting the action. If you really like a low action, I'm not sure you'll get it from an acoustic.
 7.
Having owned a Takamine G-series and an Ibanez AEB, I believe that NO acoustic bass guitar will compete unamplified with even a single acoustic guitar. There just isn't enough space in the body to resonate enough air to produce enough sound at bass frequencies. In my humble opinion the only reason to have an acoustic bass guitar is to blend in aesthetically with an acoustic ensemble, but you'll still need amplification.
+1 Currently own a Takamine G (2nd one I've owned) and apart from it being great to pick up and put down when passing, you do need amplification. I've reinvested for an acoustic project where I'll be playing both DB and ABG, the ABG for the slightly more complex pieces. Having said that the tone is a bit different to a normal bass but is of no use unless plugged in or mic'd in a live situation.
 8.
Right my band are quite established, never going to go anywhere but get some good support slots so I'm happy with that. The guitarist has just graduated as a 'graphic designer' and takes everything far too seriously and basically thinks he knows everything, he doesn't take input any more, if anyone comes up with an idea he will say "I like it but lets go my way" now he is in another band with the drummer from this band (I was in it too but I left because I hated being in another band with him) they had a gig the other day and someone in the crowd videoed it and put it on Youtube everyone in that band was happy that someone took the time, he saw it and sent the guy an email basically telling him where he went wrong in making the video and that the camera should always be pointed at the band. That is crossing a huge line for me so I'm left with a choice I can either leave or ask the guys to carry on without him, the drummer is my best friend and he is pissed off with him too. /rant
Isn't he your singer too? If he is that's a mighty big hole to fill. I did that about 4 years ago and we ended up going from a 4 piece to a 5 piece = less cash. But the normal advice on here has to be life's to short, start a new project with a more democratic decision making process.
 9. 2 rigs both roughly 600w Main rig is a GB Shuttle 6 max with a 2x12 cab Backup practice rig is a GB Shuttle 6 combo-12 with a 2 x 10 extension cab. Backup to the back up is a Sansamp Bass Driver into the PA

 12.
IIRC on the Takamine the bottom of the saddle has notches in it which might have something to do with making individual contact with the piezo for each string. I seem to remember deciding not to mess with that and filed the top of the saddle instead. Take your time. If you do attack the bottom, make it squared off otherwise you'll get poor physical contact with the piezo, resulting in uneven output. I had to fix an electro acoustic guitar recently - no signal from the low E string. This was due to the guy having a go at lowering his action but filing the bottom of the saddle squint. So basically, either shape the top to your liking or make sure the base of the saddle is flat, straight and true if you file the underside.
OK thanks, file in situ or remove the saddle? Anyone else see a disaster looming???
 13. Thinking of trimming down the old bass collection. I have 2 likely candidates, A maple glow Ricky and a MM Stingray IV - Natural Velvet finish - 05 Mar 1996. I'm pretty sure on the worth of the Ricky, but the Stingray?? I don't have the original case or candy but do have a 'fender' style tweed case that I bought it in. Great nick, needs new strings although plays really well.....so, any views on it's value, if the s/h market in these is not great I'll hold on to it!! Cheers
 14. Just aquired this new beasty Really good nick, normal acoustic issues of low volume when unplugged, but a fine aquisition all the same (used to have one, sold it, regretted it, so rebought one!!!) Anyway after my initial play, I'd like to adjust the action if possible. At the headstock end the action is fine but is a tadge high at the body end, prob by .25cm or so. Now as far as I can tell, there is some possiblity to reduce the height of the plastic (?) bridge, I assume by filing and I'm sure some truss rod adjustment. If anyone has done this before on an ABG I like some words of comfort/tips/advice before I have a crack at it. It's a Takamine EG512C. Thx.
 15.
Very kind but I think my doc would give me the CSA - crass stupidity award!
Hey mate how was the DB tone, and how was your Fishman Pro eq set? Have mirrored your set up with Plat pro and pickup and am getting some good tones through a PA I set up in one of my spare rooms, but would be interested to see how you've set up.
 16. Mark bought my Hipshot GB7, he promised to buy it a week ago and said I would receive payment the last Friday, which I did. I would have no hesitation dealing with Mark again,it was a pleasure........ Another inter-Wiltshire transfer succesfully completed. Many thanks
 17.
You after ANOTHER T-bird then?!?!?!? I hope you're not regretting selling your natural one. Although obviously T-birds are the only basses that matter, that is a nice Ricky. All the best mate, I hope you manage to get one sorted. JP
Hey mate, Hope the bird is ok, don't regret selling it, I needed the cash, but I do want another one but need to shift the Ricky first. I'm also looking at my Stingray, that may be next to go.........! Atb from Mr Decisive

 20.
I felt a bout of GAS coming on last week. Desperate I was to spec up my own Warmouth parts bass and drop many $$$ that I didn't have on a bass that probably wouldn't have worked properly had I done it. After speccing up 2 or 3 different possibilities I quashed this episode of GAS by upgrading my home studio's software from Sonar 7PE to Sonar 8.5PE (at a fraction of the cost) so that it might now run on W7x64. But the GAS is back and today my mouse is hovering over the 'Add to Basket' button on a MIM Fender Deluxe Precision Special...........now I know I should go to the shops and sit and play the actual guitar I plan to buy but the urge is strong.. Oh and a Hartke head and 4.5XP cab is pulling my credit card out of my wallet this week too... AAAAARGHH!! Give me a painless cure!!
Easy, hit the mouse button, GAS release but closely followed by an onset of guilt/worry/self doubting
 21.
so....i miss a Bass on here by minutes , few days later i get a PM from the guy who bought it offering it to me for an extra £150, Bass ticks all the boxes for him but he's skint so... do i pay the extra £150 or tell him to F@%k right off
The latter but nicely!
 22. Tab is NOT sh*t, it's not as good as proper music notation, but I've happily learnt many hundreds of songs using it and by playing along to the track, it's a great start point. Now reading music is better and should be encouraged (I'm learning) but don't let the music snobs on here diss tabs, they have there place. BTW if it was me, looking at the 5 string tab I think It's going to be tough, one option would be to restring a spare bass BEAD for quick results as the G doesn't get used a lot. Other wise it's a retab job. Welcome on board!
 23.
I just had a basic Stagg type one from my local shop and it offered plenty of protection. if I still had the bass I wouldn't hesitate to ship in one of those
+1 me too although it was a not very nice light grey colour!
 24. Just re bought one of these - Takamine EG512C Used to have one for an acoustic project, project ended so I sold it to pay for some TE gear. Now have another acoustic project on the go, so bought this. Bit of a physical challenge, but great sounding bass!!
