Just found a 1961 Fender J for $35k. Sort of think that's out of my price range.
I don't know that I can resist using her at a couple of gigs actually........ Mainly to hear her through my SVT rig! I use an ancient Carlsboro rig for practice, that I leave there
That's a lot of bass to be carting off to a gig, not sure I'd be playing something of that worth at the venues I play tbh, still pleased that your impressed with it!
She looks way better built than my '09 bird Loving the Maple Glo beauty in the back ground too! :brow: In fact we have the same taste in basses.....'Bird, Ricky, Jazz, Stingray
Yeah it's playing well, I need to get the action rasied a smidge but aprt from that I'm lovin' it. Looking forward to giving it a gig debut on Sunday!! I'm happy with my lot I suppose (there's a 2 tone sunburst P at the back). As per my other post that's me for a while..............we'll see!
Noble Artist Management are seeking highly talented male musicians aged between 18 - 24 to create a new band.
Not sure how this stacks up against current ageist and sexist laws in our pc world. It's the highly talented bit the really does for me though. F61 Aged between 35-49 good luck to those that do fit the criteria.

Hardly Ped's standard of photography but here's my little contribution.
East from Wiltshire/Salisbury, or West from Yeovil and ye olde flat lands beyond. John
Shaftsbury ok for me depending on gig dates, btw Mr Pedant here isn't Shaftsbury West of Salisbury and East from Yeovil and the like???? Unless I have the wrong one.... Btw would we be able to get someone along who can do a hands on master class in set ups (action and inntonation) - that would make it worthwhile in itself for me.

So after a rush of buying kit I'm now at a stage where I have all of the basses that I think I've wanted, the only downside of my collection is that none are vintage (if that's an issue). So with a reasonably significant birthday approaching in 18 months time, and the need for some major pressie ideas, what should I looking for? cause I haven't got a clue tbh. I want it to be something that I've been gassing for over a period of time not something that is bought on a whim (normal style)

"Core Tone" isn't very important in your bass.
farmer61 replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I agree, I'm not sure any of my basses sound that different when playing at volume 11 through my rig. I think comfort and confidence in your bass is far more important.....now why have I just bought a T-Bird??? -
Good work HJ...!
Alexharvay's post, 2nd post, first page of the thread I've just started a "Gibson Porn" thread in Gear Porn, so post 'em up I've put some piccy's up of my EB2
Aha found it thanks....! The smell thing is strange, mine has a very distinctive smell aswell even though it's 18 months old...? Paint and finish seem ok but I will have a look with me specs on.......! Gibson porn to follow tomorrow when I get some time to take my own pics.
In fairness, my 09 'bird plays like a dream, sounds huge, and is well built, but the attention to detail is shocking.........I have a list of 20 faults! They're all fairly minor, and I could forgive the odd thing here and there, but you really don't have to look too hard to find them I just hope that mine was a one off "Friday afternoon" job My overall "Beef" is that it is not worth anywhere near as much as I paid for it, and I would actually feel quite guilty if I tried to pass it on through Ebay, etc.
Cheers, not sure I enough of an expert to spot anything, bit dissapointed with the case tbh, but the bass itself plays well, so perhaps I won't look too closely and remain ignorantly happy.
My 2009 'bird, despite all it's faults, does a pretty good job of shaking the house apart.
Just had a noodle with my recently aquired '08....can't see any issues at all but I am a Gibo novice. Just interested in your thoughts above ref the faults. Cheers F61

I bought a used Boss ODB-3 from Rich last year. The transaction was quick, painless and the pedal was delivered super quick!!! The pedal was exactly as described and is in use most weekends in pubs in the Southern Counties. Rich is a guy who should be trusted, and I would have no hesitiation in recommending buying from or selling to him. Cheers F61
Yeap! I was having a major GAS attack over it, drool pouring out both sides of the mouth..........The Mrs told me to load up ebay and have a look in our watch list.......She'd bid on it, and won it!!!!   It's one of the 76 Bicentennials that was actually built in '77, going by the serial number. the bicentennial 'bird is my all time favourite bass!! Don't know that I would be brave enough to gig it though.....
Which one? the expensive one??? Good shout!
