True....the point being that they are not the same amps. The company was dead for a few years...Peavey just bought the brand name and got some of the previous engineers to come and join them.
Plus the chief designer and a few of the original bods. Enough of the old Trace in there for me....
OK, thanks for the advice..... could anyone tell me what it is worth? Would anyone like to make me an offer?
Would guess at about £350-450, I bought one 'new' in 2002 and they've brought out a whole new range of products since then
It's also worth bearing in mind that a quality DB is nearly always a good investment. A few years down the line and you should be able to get more than you paid for it, assuming it's still in good condition. You can't say that for electric instruments which nearly always depreciate at an alarming rate. My orchestral bass cost me £300 in 1973. It's now worth in excess of £25K. Now that's a good investment ! The Major
Here's a couple pics of mine that's was rescued from being chucked in a skip and after several hundred pounds worth of repairs and refurbishments. It's a solid wood Romanian dating from somewhere in the 70's, just got to learn how to play the thing -
I think one of the strangest one's this year was 'Everlong' by the Foo fighters.... not traditional first dance music..... good though..... it was great to see the bride and groom po-go-ing!!
The acoustic version is excellent
Buy a fretless! That way you still have the fretted one as a backup.
+1 had my MIM J done for £95 and regretted it ever since.....................even may have it refretted, how stupid is that?
Hi are you still looking for a replacement? Whereabouts do you rehearse? cheers Dave
Yep the guys are holding auditions on Sunday in Andover, I'm barred..... Generally we don't rehearse as the set is nailed, most of the guys are a distance South and West of you though!

Am sharing your pain right now, I am investing in some lessons with Jakesbass. I'm sure it's all about technique!

It'll be a solder issue inside, that only breaks when the amp heats up. I've had the same and it took two trips to the repair chap to fix. They needed to put the amp on soak test to find the issue. Quite often it's on the circuits that you don't use often (ie effects loop for instance) After several hours they found an issue with one of the circuits off of the front panel (i can't remember which) which needed resoldering it's now good as gold.
This was bought brand new by me from John Taylor at Sounds Live in Newcastle in '93. Gigged for 9 years without a hitch, too loud and now too heavy.. Ideal for gigging pub band, reason for sale is I now use IEM's and this baby is cluttering up my hallway in it's flightcase It will have to be picked up by a new owner as I cannot deliver unless in or around the Sunderland/Newcastle area. In good condition, and a cracking sound, never thought I'd want to get rid of it but here goes..... £350 ono.
Just bought one of these as a standby....................can't believe how loud the thing is compared to my other trace gear. I recently gigged this with a 4 x 10 cab, you should have heard my drummer moaning Good luck with the sale! -
I think so, to 2 I have are excellent, I particularly like the S1 switching Jazz that I bought earlier in the year.

US Fender Jazz (massive attack of GAS mid year......so much that so....cont) US Fender 09 Jazz (...I bought a second one) Double Bass (Got for nowt but just spent £350 on getting it fixed) Boss ODB-3 (for a couple of songs in the set) Out MM Stingray V (sold on here) Ashdown Perfect 10 Minirig (use the TE Combo instead also sold on here) pretty lightweight really. My new year prediction is severe Gibson Thunderbird GAS
I've only been playing a year, so I'll probably be asking more than answering, .
I've been playing many years and the same applies to me, welcome aboard and enjoy the ride.
300w minimum, less than that will struggle to give you enough headroom with all but the quietest of drummers!
+1. See signature below for my thoughts on the matter. You never know when a pub gig will turn into a private gig in a larger venue.
I'll be the judge of all of this praise on 9th Nov and again on the 11th Dec after Jake turns me into a Double Bass ninja in the space of 4 hours. I do feel that Jake should be paying me for the entertainment he's going to get watching me struggle with the monster. I cannot wait......
Well I am pleased to confirm that I've just had a cracking first session on the DB with Jake. Very laid back but well structured lesson, we seemed to cover an awful lot but the time just flew by.......can't wait to get hold of my DB to practice the stuff in prep for my next leson in Dec. Anyone thinking or dithering about having lessons, go speak with Jake and I'm sure that you'll be as impressed as I am. Loads of useful tips, not just on DB but music 'theory' as well. Well worth the effort of tackling the M4 on a Monday morning. Cheers Jake, see you in Dec!!!!
