1. Need some help here. Can anyone think why it would appear that one of tyhe drivers in my 4 x 10 would be distorting on only one note 'A' played on the E. I'm assuming that it's on the way out, please tell me I'm wrong!!!!!! Depressed from Swindon!
2.
yeah but i could name 50 songs better than that one. but it's all subjective i guess.
A challenge methinks
3. My name is Julian and I have an addiction to GAS. I have to have 2 of everything to give me full redundancy, I could reduce the amopunt of kit I take to gigs by 50% if I really wanted to, in fact I'm a mobile spares shop for the band. I have bought 2 new basses in the last 2 months and already I'm developing the signs of where's my next bit of kit coming from. What I'd really like though is a Van for transporting my stuff that I can park straight back into the bat cave post gig. Mrs F isn't keen though which I feel is very unreasonable. My real problem is I suffer from impulse GAS, I'm have bought stuff I'm not sure I really want..... Is there any help out there??
4. Marvellous, played to a smelly pub of tough looking people but it was superb especially the second set. Tired but satisfied!!!
5.
Some people have said "well I don't know what it's worth so i'd like offers to find out" - well that's balls. Just find out what it's worth on Ebay. How many PM offers do you want to receive before you decide to settle on one of them? I'd say it's a case of lazy sellers.
+1 or just put a post out asking for peoples opinions before putting it in the for sale forum.
6. Nah I'm afraid I've just finished my second venture to the 5th string, it just ain't working for me....damn B just keeps on getting in the way. If I need to go down this route again its BEAD for me!
7.
if you are going to turn your amp up after soundcheck there is little point in doing the soundcheck in the first place.
+1 ps playing to a sound limiter is a good way of focusing the band on volume....
8. My rule of thumb. - Rehearse quietly, maybe even acoustically. Where you rehearse and the volume you rehearse at has no bearings on gig venues. Surely reheasrsals are for practising song structures and individual parts. - Gigs if there's no one stood in front of the band you're probably too loud and it's uncomfortable for the punters - Functions (learnt from a wiser person than me on here) Play to the dance floor. BTW everyone tells me it's me who's too loud........bollocks to 'em!

Sore Throat...

Am coming down with a bastard cold (or so it feels like) and I have 2 gigs this weekend. I need to be able to sing (if you call it that). I use Vocalzone lozengers (sp?) regularly, any other top tips for surviving colds and sniffles (mainly sore throats and coughs really) when out there gigging. ps I'm driving to both gigs so Alcohol and Potions that make you drowsy are not options - unfortunately.
11.
I read somewhere that Sting plays a simpler bassline live compared to what's on the recording..... G.
As does Tom Araya from Slayer, when singing he plays a basic bass line, in between vocal parts he tends to fancy up the bass playing a tadge.
12. On if you go for the bridge cover as well!!!
13. I like Gillan, saw them at Reading Fest in 1979 they were great. Not sure why Hot Tub's getting stick though, was only posting his thoughts......mind you he can't have been too much under the influence cause he edited the post 10 mins after putting it out there!!!!
14. We just sing it.....badly!
15.
What an ungrateful lot Thanks for the idea Clarky.
I agree, good suggestion Clarky. Me, I go for the no belt, smaller size trousers to improve my vocal range....
16.
Where's Oxfordshire?
It's the crappy part of Wiltshire and next to Gloucestershire
17. Not me, I had a weekend off gigging.
18. I want to start doing my own set ups for action, intonation etc may involce neck action. Is there a blow by blow record of how to do this lying around on here, and I do mean a basic procedure. I have a Mex Fender I can practice on, before I try out on my main basses. Cheers J

Nice, I sold the exact same model and colour about 2 years ago, these are great basses.
21.
Nice one! Like the colour.
Thanks, it was my original choice, but Dawsons only had the Olympic White which I decided to go for based on price. A few people earlier on the thread have the Blizzard Pearl and rate it so it's all worked out rather well.
22. So then, bass ordered from Dawsons.co.uk and then I receive a call yesterday saying that for security reasons I cannot have the bass sent to a different address than the one on the debit card details because the item is more than £500. I double checked the website terms and conditions, which state that "due to customer feedback we are now able to send to different address". I offered to give them any proof that they wanted, but no, they would not budge so the order is cancelled. So have gone to Reverb and bought this £20 cheaper and free delivery, an overall saving of £30. No hassle with delivery address's and brand new stock. Marvellous!!!
23. Check out my signature at the bottom, I love 'em!
24.
Congrats on choosing a great bass, farmer61. Hope you enjoy it
Thanks, me too, just hope it arrives and that Fender had a good day at the factory when it was built!
25.
FYI, that is the exact same colour scheme of Beedsters' 09 Jazz (formerly mine). Looks great in the flesh.
I actually checked your for-sale post before I placed the order to check on the colour, I quite like the idea of the black scratch plate mind you...... Btw I won't be playing this naked if this is what you meant.
