Boss TU-2 and my MIM Jazz all those years ago -
Our PA packed up before gig on Saturday. I had to drive home 13 miles to pick up my unit and drive back. We were late going on, our lights failed and I broke a string. Unbelieveable!

Went to school with Mr Tilley, shared a bill with the FTT in Dec and used to play in a band with him for 4 years, (Not including our first band at aged 16) I can vouch that he's a top chap and a cracking performer. Would suit a soul/blues bassist down to a tee. Bump for a mate.

Panamonte bought my Defretted Jazz Neck. After a couple of questions the deal was concluded in a matter of minutes. 5 minutes after virtually 'shaking hands' on the deal, the cash was in my bank account. Dead easy deal, great comms and a pleasure. Many thanks

First gig with JC, really enjoyed playing it, tone was great. Forgive music box proping up music stand, had to improvise due to crappy eyesight.
Ideally you'd use a hollow bodied bass - yes they resonate and feedback easier than standard bass guitars, but if you're in a country band then its not like you'll need to have your amp cranked. I have the gretsch bass you linked to (well the slightly older model) and although it would sound great for the country band set up, you can get much cheaper alternatives that prove just as effective for your set up. Try the epiphone jack casady bass!
^ This First time gigging on Sunday for amplified acoustic set up, taking Jazz with flats just in case......!

I defretted my MIM Jazz neck which seemed like a really good idea at the time. Work done professionally and it turned out rather well, however I never played the bass. Having just bought Clarky's fretted neck I thought I try and move this on. Some dings on the side of the neck and the fb could probably do with some lemon oil, but neck is straight and was once part of a fantastic mex jazz. Reckon £120, please let me know if any questions.
Have to be stickers for me as I don't like things on my wrist, ears, necks etc. Its hard enough wearing a watch and a wedding ring is like torture. Basschat Sticker would be good as it could go on the grill of the cab, gig bag, flight case etc as well as the car window. Variety of sizes would be good also.
Does that mean you'd have to take your cab to every event even if not playing...... Edit...Wristband is a cracking idea imo
Just thinking about another thread about paying to play and it got me thinking. Do people think that a covers band develops a following or are they just one in a long line of covers bands appearing at the same venues week after week? The only covers bands I have seen in the last few years have been when I have gone to a pub that others take me to because they go here every week. When I used to go regularly as a teenager, the audience in The Isca pub or El Seico's in Newport was near as damn it always the same people. I have no doubt that a tribute band will pull an audience of fans of the subject act but just wondered whether covers bands doing the kinds of set lists we have seen here recently are an attraction in their own right or whether they just fulfil a need by default. Any thoughts? My query is a response to the idea that a covers band would be asked to 'pay to play' on the promise of a percentage of door take and that they would be expected to 'pull' an audience. So I am curious whether punters are selective about which covers bands they see of whether they are going to the 'venue where there is a band on', irrespective of who the band is.
We do

Despite the best efforts of the Royal Mail, the guitar stand I bought off of Tom arrived safe and sound. Wrapped and secured as if it was weapons grade plutonium, it arrived in perfect condition, despite the posty walking it into the doorframe when coming in the office. Thanks Tom, it was a pleasure, great comms, great product and a thoroughly excellent transaction. Deal with Tom with confidence.
