1. Personally I wouldn't bother. Owned and sold two of them. Gigging wsa a challenge due to the size and while the tone was ok, you can do aswell with a normal bass or better with a DB. Im using a hollowbody with my acoustic line up as I'm not brave enough to go to the DB....yet!! If it's just for the look, it's not worth the hassle. You could always DI to do away with an amp which would provide a definate advantage. But when all's said and done, I'm convinced they're more hassle than they're worth. My two penneth.

The deal for his Fender neck was an abolute breeze, great comms, super fast postage and a great piece of Fender engineering. Cheers Clarky it was an absolute pleasure, I look forward to installing the neck. Deal with this fine fellow with total confidence!

First 3 tracks were very good and very varied. Couldn't workout whether the vocal mix was a bit low at the start of track 1 I was driving quite quickly !!!!! Not so keen on track 4 tbh. But overall very, very impressed. Good work L.E.B.!!
 9.
Hi all, Just a quickie. In one of the function band I play in we currently split the payment we receive from gigs evenly between the band members. However, recently the members who organise the majority of the gigs have asked if it would be ok if they could take a bigger cut because of the amount of time they put into organising gigs. I should also add that we have a website that I spent a fair bit of time building, and I still maintain it, SEO it and I paid for the hosting and domain name out of my own pocket. To be fair I don’t mind either way, I’m just keen to see how other bands do it. Cheers
Even split, or you'll spend more time discussing who does what and what it's worth. IMO

 11.
I entirely agree - if I didn't, then my mortgage would make a liar out of me. But this topic is lamenting the partial demise of a scheme that encourages people to take on debt by buying instruments which they may or may not need, which they may or may not be able to afford, and which (being new) are definitely going to be more expensive by this route than they would be by buying second-hand. Context is everything.
or allows people to buy something that they have seen that may not be available in 9 months. I bought a second hand bass through the scheme. But you are right in the hands of people who struggle with budgeting money it's a bad thing, but for the majority of people who can cope with manageable debt it's a good thing. Helps keep stores in business and provides healthy stock for trading on here a few months after

Plus CD's in a nice LP type cardboard sleeve for sale at gigs too. It's mustard
This had better been £3.16 well spent or there's trouble Downloading from Itunes as we speak, sorry type.
 14.
I'm not looking to start a fight, but this scheme is just another way of getting into debt, isn't it? Nine months interest-free credit is fine, so long as you can keep up with the repayments. There's no shortage of car dealers who'll offer you similar terms if it means that you buy a car you can't afford. If you can afford nine months of instalment payments, then you can afford to save up for nine months and never need to take on the debt in the first place. Am I missing something?
No you're not, but if you're (not you obviously) the type of person who get's into debt there's plenty of ways that you can do it with or without the TIA scheme. For the majority who don't it's an easy and convenient way of bringing forward a purchase or funding a better peice of kit. The fault of debt is people not the TIA scheme which I for one have used twice and will miss it. Hey ho!
 15.
And your opinions sir? Personally I'd not get the short scale for myself because it's too short. I find even the standard T-bird a little small!
Not sure tbh, I need to have a close up look, there seems to be a debate whether it's through or bolt on neck. My gut feel is I prefer standard T-birds. But I am impulsive so who knows!!
 16.
Yeah I realized only too late that I posted it in the wrong section. However my intentions were genuine and I thought this could be an interesting topic, however I am beginning to believe that bands should sign up to some sort of Musician's Union to ensure them a fair fee is always paid and to avoid a bum deal with a venue that won't pay well. Do you get that feeling that gigging is similar to prostitution, anyone?
But it varies so much between pub/area and band that it just wouldn't work imo. If my band are happy, the venue are happy and Mrs F61 remains happy does it matter what the actual rate is. I aim this point at the weekend warriors and not the full time pro's who are affected by my previous comment, but it's the pubs that dictate the rate in my area and they are struggling big time and more an more are closing or putting on juke boxes/karaoke instead of live bands. We need to be realistic or the whole live music scene will die.
 17. Lowest rate we get is £180, max is £300 for typical pub stuff. Average is around the £220-240 mark. For a 3 piece it works out pretty well, I used to get around my current top rate for a 5 piece which wasn't so good. Private work starts at £450 and goes up to as much as we can get away with. 'Proper' function bands you're looking at £1000 upwards. Luckily I only gig for fun and the cash goes to keep the wife sweet with handbags and me to waste money on here/eBay/Thomann/Hartnoll Guitars/GAK/etc
 18.
I used this lot to get the blocked/bound 70s Jazz neck (MIM) that I put on my '71 P/J (in the Gear Porn pages). They just take apart recent Fenders and sell off the bits and gave a pretty good service, as far as I was concerned.
Aha glad someone's used them, did you get clobbered with import tax or anything??
