1.
Trades?
Drop me a PM!
2.
Great keyboard! I have exactly the same issue with my DC plug.
Pretty much the only design flaw on an excellent sounding synth!
3.
Just been to pmt and the music room on college green. Tried an sr370. Wasn't impressed. The pickups were to big to work with for resting thumb on when plucking and the harmonics wye pretty dead. The tone was decent but overall no deal. It didn't help that the dry up was terrible making a fair assessment impossible. I tried a226 quid Yamaha trbx30 in the music room which seemed is better, but I don't know anything about this bass. That really want much else with posting. I've alresfy tried the sub music man and that was all they had within my passive range. I didn't see the point of wasting time trying a bunch of expensive bases I can't afford
My Yamaha TRBX is for sale here for £150. PM me if you're interested mate - I can vouch for them being great, reliable basses (I've had no back up for 12 months). Plus the thumbrest is neat too
4. We share 3/5! [Klausenitzer, Arif & Claypool] My other two are Paul Simonen from The Clash and Martin Mendez from Opeth
theres loads i could mention and most have already been mentioned but my current listens are Linus Klausenitzer - Obscura (mind blowingly good), Alkaloid, Noneuclid Arif Mirabdolbaghi - Protest the hero (sadly no longer with the band) Dominic "Forest" Lapointe - Beyond Creation (again no longer with the band, their new bassist is pretty handy too), Teramobil Duff McKagan - He's the reason i play bass and i learnt all of Guns and Roses songs to learn the bass, just solid Les Claypool - hes a god and bonkers
5. I think if you do a bit of research and buy something used for £300, you'll get a pretty damn good bass. Whether that's the right bass for you is a different story and, as others have said, requires having played quite a few first. Personally I stick with Yamaha basses because that's what I'm comfortable using live and in the studio. They're very affordable and have excellent build quality, so I'd recommend looking at them. (I'm selling a TRBX304 for £150 over at the sell forum, and if you like active basses I don't think you'll find a better one for that money)
6. Had a Barefaced/Barefaced swap with Kev over the weekend. Great guy, easy transaction and top communication. No need to hesitate with a sale Thanks Kev!
7. I use a Little Bear, cracking fuzz pedal. Someone grab a bargain! GLWTS
8. Already own one of these and love it. Can highly recommend to anyone searching for a tubey, grindy tone Have a bump!
9. Bump! Pictures coming this weekend now my phone camera is back in action. (I'm also after a Zoom H4N and would happily consider a trade)
10. Hi there! *PRICE DROP £400* *Pictures added* *PRICE DROP £375* *+ FREE Wesley Mockingbird Copy* I'm now offering a completely free Wesley Mockingbird copy if you come and collect the Baja Tele for £375. The Wesley is a bit dinged up and in need of a clean/set-up but the electronics are in full working order. At the very least, the guitar will give you some spare parts if you decide you don't want it. For sale is my lovely Fender Baja Modern Player Telecaster (2012). I bought it second hand in mint cond. in 2013 off someone who had two and had kept this one in storage for a rainy day which never came. In my opinion these are the best MIM guitars around and rival some of the USA Telecasters I've played over the years. All stock apart from an upgrade to the 3 barrel saddle to compensated brass (a common mod on these Telecasters to better hold intonation). Very minor marks on the front of the guitar but barely noticeable. One ding to the horn. I've tried to show all possible marks in the images. The guitar has only left my house on a couple of occasions, never been gigged and has been well looked after. Reason for sale is that I don't get the time to play guitar so much these days after taking up bass, and I'd rather reinvest the money in more bass gear. Local collection preferred from Stourbridge, West Mids (DY8) but can post/courier at buyers expense. Here's a link to the specs: http://intl.fender.c...gerboard-black/ I'll get some decent pictures up for anyone interested later this week. Guitar is currently in C Standard but will get it set up with new strings in your choice of tuning before sale. Comes with Fender gigbag.
11. If Paul Simonon from The Clash is underrated these days, then him. My favourite player by a mile. I think Dick Lovgren from Meshuggah is superb too. Very understated but crucial role in backing up the dual 8 string guitar attack. Also a fantastic jazz player in his own right outside of the band. & Dan Maines from Clutch. Who plays bass in the 4 Non Blondes? The lines on their debut are absolutely brilliant.
12. Cheers Tobie. I'll ask around and try a local bike shop and see if they've got one!
13. Yeah, its a quality bass for the money. Active just isn't for me! If I come across a box to post it in I'll let you know
14. The gear sale continues! *Now £180 incl. shipping to UK* I picked up this synthesiser a few years ago for ~£400 so am prepared to let it go for £200. I've not really developed into the keyboard wizard I assumed I could be (although it did get me through some boring spots at University). Overall, the condition of the keyboard is good, although one of the keys is scratched and it has some battle scars (playability is still perfect). It's a bit dusty as its been in storage so will give it a clean-down before the sale. Comes complete with A/C adaptor (although I'll make it clear that the connection struggles to stay in the keyboard's input jack. Apparently this is a manufacturing defect and a common problem with these synths but I'm guessing it's not a difficult fix. Google if unsure). Either way, a superb, powerful synth with a lot of mileage left in it for a solid price. I'll get some pictures up when I get a new phone this weekend (my phone camera is on the ropes). Trades Considered: MIJ Yammy's/Ibbys, 4 string only. (preferably passive or active switchable). Anything else - Try me!
15. *Sold - Please Lock* Hi there, Up for sale is my trusty Yamaha TRBX304 in White. This was my first bass and has been my main gigging/recording/rehearsing instrument for a whole year. It's seen a variety of stages, was used on three EPs and has always impressed me with its variety of tones and versatility. I've recently picked up an 80's passive MIJ Yamaha and have decided that passive instruments are definitely a better fit for the music I play, so am moving this along to fund a backup passive bass. IMO/IME, there's not many (if any) better basses in the >£300 price range when new and this would make a truly excellent companion for a beginner or someone looking to buy their first active instrument. You won't find a better bass for £150 Considering this bass has been used every day for a year, it's in superb condition. Recently set up with new rounds. I'll give it a clean before it's sold because it's been through a couple of shows and a recording session since it was set up. The only truly noticeable aesthetic defect is a small crack in the paint (where the body joins the neck) but it doesn't affect playability. I've tried to capture it in a photo but my phone camera's focus is pretty shot. (I'm getting an upgrade in a few days so will have better pictures up for anyone interested). Guitar comes supplied with the 9V battery in the bass + a spare, and Fender gig bag which, although not fantastic, does the job just fine. I've got no packaging available to post the bass atm so collection preferred from Stourbridge, West Mids, or I can meet you in Birmingham/surrounding areas. N.B. I've only got buyer feedback at the moment and for the sake of transparency, PM me and I'll be more than happy to disclose my mobile no., social media links, links to my band's website (and me playing the bass in photos) etc. I know there's sometimes issues with spam/con artists on here but would like people to buy with confidence from a fellow, honest musician Trades/Part Trades considered: MIJ Yamaha or Ibanez fretted or fretless basses (4 String only please) Any other interesting 4 string fretless basses Try me with anything else - you never know!
16. **SOLD** Hi there, I'm parting ways with my Korg Kaoss Pad 3 complete with pretty tatty original box and manual. The OEM AC is sadly lost and isn't supplied but it should be fairly straightforward to source a new one! Apart from the missing adapter, it's in near enough mint condition and in full working order. Grab yourself a bargain FX/sampler. Collection preferred from Stourbridge, West Mids but can post at buyer's cost. Part trades considered on kooky things, Japanese Yamaha and Ibanez basses or something fretless.
17. ***CURRENTLY ON HOLD, PENDING TRADE*** Hi there. I'm listing my excellent BB2 cab in near enough new condition complete with Roqsolid cover. Reason for sale is only because I need to downsize as am currently without a car and the BB is a little unwieldy on public transport. Cab has been gigged a few times but always looked after. No noticeable damage to finish or handle. Ideally, I'm looking to downsize to a Super Midget Gen3 with cover so this is ideal for anyone sizing up. Trade would be a straight swap with ~£100 my way. Since I'm a gigging bassist and do need a cab, a high cash offer may get considered but essentially only looking for a Barefaced - Barefaced trade. Collection/swap from Stourbridge, West Mids, UK preferred. Cheers. (Sorry for the poor-ish picture quality by the way, my phone camera has seen better days. I'm getting an upgrade this weekend so can upload better quality images if required)
18.
Hogwash. A band doesn't have to actually be professional to have a 'professional' attitude, approach and organisation.
Agree with Rich here. Last August myself and two close friends started a band with the overall goal of playing hardcore punk and seeing where that path took us. Within a week we'd found a drummer and have practised at least once a week, every week since. We like to keep as much as we can in-house, so all four of us took on responsibilities for the running of the band (ie. booking shows, making posters, writing the songs, Twitter etc) and have tried to get good at what we weren't previously good at so we don't have to get too many outside people involved. As a result, we've managed to record three EPs and make enough off of merchandise/small door fees to fund our more expensive ventures. I've also potentially got us onto a start-up record label in NYC to handle distribution in the US, which is very cool indeed! I guess the TLDR version of the above boils down to: if you go into it with ambition, passion, some talent and most of all, a plan which everyone buys into, you can run things professionally enough. Just look at Portugal last night in the Euros. They lost their star guy, but everyone had a job and ran with it. I think that's the key to running a band, also. Some exceptions though of course!
