Total Watts

  1. Based on his '71 i believe. i A/B'd one against my '71 and the neck feel and playability was identical. They did a good job..
  2. Yes, the pre amp from the Thunderfunk drives the Sumo much better, but same issue exists, the cabs become overloaded before they get loud enough. This is the original enquiry I had.. Wondering technically why, as my Thunderfunk drives the same cabs way louder without any complaint
  3. THe VT1 has input level, gain and output level. The input (i read) is to compensate for output level of the Bass, active/passive etc. I have that pushed past noon, the gain similar (just a touch of break up) and the output cranked), but to answer your questions, the Sumo could be pushed a lot harder. The pre amp out from my Thunderfunk drives the Sumo much harder, but I still see the same issue where Cabs are overloaded before I reach volume I need to cover the Band. The thunderfunk, needless to say is ample. It drives the same speakers to easily loud enough without any complaints from the cabs
  4. I'm running theVT1 into the Sumo, then into both cabs daisy chained. Had another rehearsal last night. I drove the VT1 quite hot (output) and the Sumo just about managed rehearsal volume beforte it distorted the cabs. I reckon i'm at about 7 on the volume dial of the Sumo. I have tried the pre amp out from the thunderfunk where I usually run the gain at around 6 or 7. Tnat really gave the Sumo some umph, but again, it was killing the cabs. Had to turn down to just below rehearsal levels..
  5. Anyone fancy educating me..? I bought A Sumo monster on a whim really. I'm going through a rationalisation of my gear, basically selling stuff etc, and then pops up a Sumo monster for reasonable money. I've been hanging on to Dave Hall VT1 pro and i thought, hang on.. Power amp.. pre amp.. i'll have a dabble. The VT1 is a killer pre-amp, but not what this is about. I run a couple of TKS 1126s which are really great, but have a rather low sensitivity. My gear selling left me with my ThunderFunk 550 to run these sweethearts, which it does magnificently well. The TKSs are rated at 250 - 600w at 8 ohms So i assumed the Sumo's 1200 class D watts would be mega, and i'd need to be careful with the master volume etc.. What i actually found is that the Sumo caused me to overdrive the speakers (farts and crackles... not good) long before I reached rehearsal volumes? The Thunderfunk is much 'louder' in perceived volume and doesn't kill the speakers. So whats going on? Why is the Sumo not delivering volume? .....Sounds mega though , that VT1 really is a colourful little fellow
  6. Cheers.. That's my understanding, was the MAX that puzzled me. Thanks
  7. So, rummaging through my spare pedal pile looking to put together a small board for a project.. So I´m looking at power supplies and Pedal power requirements.. Am just a bit puzzled by My DynaVerb stating 9V 85mA MAX... then checking out the COIKS SOL which delivers 9V at 665mA.. Am in looking at x8 the amount of power and am I going to cook the pedal? Cheers Jay
  8. I suffered a fault on my RipleyFall, and it was kicking around for a while amongst my spare pedals. Anyhoo, I decided to reach out to Jam pedals to see if they could do anything. So I just wanted to post and praise what for the most part is a rare example of outstanding customer support. They arranged transport to collect the Pedal, repaired it, returned it in good time at zero cost. Just thought I´d share here in gratitude. Happy daze
  9. Thanks for the input. I ended up going for the Status. It just appealed after an amount of deliberating. the Stingray was a lovey natural finsh which looked killer, but was a bit overpriced and pictured in a filthy state.. put me off tbh. Also the Status offered a little wider string spacing which appealed as it's my first 5er. Again chers jay
  10. Sorry, I know it's largely un-answerable, but buying a bass without ability to try, and these three are in my price range.. and I fancy all of em I would appreciate any opinions, suggestions, oe experience etc They are different beasts, but like many of us, I'm an ´enthusiast´ and enjoy new stuff and and the process of making them fit in etc. But it is my first pop at a 5 string.. I have a 4 string Stingray fwiw I´ll use the bass in a project which is I guess groove based pop/funk. All comments welcome. Cheers Jay
  11. Thanks, never thought I´d let it go, but here we are..
  12. A very nice and unique Låkland JO 2007 finished in a stunning Pearl green. Has been upgraded with the Chi-sonic (J-Sonic) pickups. A lovely bass with the Låkland neck living up to the hype, a dream to play. FWIW I will be travelling the the UK 17th June and can bring the bass with me to avoid the nasty tax man. Alder body, Dark rosewood board really makes the inlays pop out. few minor dings that I have tried to capture in the pics. No buckle rash. Cream coloured Låkland hard case
  13. Goodness, a black BB2000.. really sits nice with the Ebony board. I'd never sell mine... but I'd swap it for a black one Gotta say priced to sell is this.. Someone's getting sweet deal. GLWTS
