  1. Thanks guys, Another notch on my knowledge stick 🤔
  2. Fabulous basses, and there is something with that particular finish that just doesn't reproduce in a photograph. Mesmerizing finish..
  3. Hi folks, advice please. I picked up a BB 2024x a while ago and it's a great bass with a wonderful P bass tone. However, I noticed that the tone control does nothing until the last 20% ish. Then it rolls off nicely, (just using smaller adjustments). Anyhow, I thought I could just replace it. I ordered the correct replacement out from Yamaha Japan, and the new pot is exactly the same? Not a big issue, but I am curious. Can it be that these bases are made this way? Any other BB owners or other basses that are like this? Any thoughts? Cheers
  4. Hi, I found a 71 a little closer to home, so I will take a look at that one first. I can take contact if nothing comes of it. Cheers
  5. Any consensus on older Vs newer SB-1s..? similar tone, feel etc??
  6. What is the Midland bass bash?? I live abroad these days, but are from the Midlands. Bass bash and Sunday dinner with me mum sounds like a plan..
  7. Yeah, I been going round in circles with it. Thanks for the tip though, and huge thanks for the link
  8. Bass set up technique is often subject to a bit of opinion, but I wonder if anyone has experience or knowledge with set up using a micro tilt neck. I know some folk think tilt neck to be a useless feature, but Hartley Peavey only included height adjustment in the T 40 bridge saddles because he said 'Fender would use it against him if he didn't'. Anyhow, my question is what is the correct sequence to set up a bass with tilt neck. Saddles as low as possible? Saddle adjust before tilt? Truss rod last?
  9. Nice, I thought those early ones had a wide nut, tell you what though, the play wear shows it has been played a lot... always a good sign. Nice buy
  10. I have a slightly different experience. I picked up an '82 eko FL like the one in the vid. Got if for cheap money. The black nylon coated strings are original and look and feel like 70's push bike brake cables. It has a massive body, but still no real volume. It plays beautifully. Got sissy lines, and though this vid has poor audio, the low volume tone is nice enough, and great for chilling with just like in the vid..... I decided to fit a Piezo, but didn't want to drill the body, and with no peg holes, was unsure how to accurately fit it... The bridge on the bass is not glued to the body (on mine anyway). Its held in place by the string tension. So I simply put the piezo under the bridge... now, not a long term solution, because the is so much out put that I have to back my amps away off, and get feed back if I don't move far away. That said, I'm able to play it at band volume and it's mighty if not that sweet. I'm really fond of it. If you think you'd enjoy one, do it. I have also played a Furch FL bass, and they are lovely.
  11. Those pups get a lot of love.. what's the nut width on it. Been Gasin' for an SB 1 for ages. Nice buy
  12. Do you have the case and covers?
  13. Any chance of some audio files for this one?
  14. I will be based in Brum over easter. I'll get my flights booked and give you a nod. I may fly to London for a spot of P bass browsing.
  15. I am, but not sure I can get to Suffolk when I'm visiting the UK...
  16. James Stevenson is a guitar player, so not many I guess. I couldn't find any pictures of him with a bass. Would be interesting to find out if he used it to perform or record..
  17. PM sent
  18. Can I ask how it's going with the P? I'm sitting poised on pulling the trigger on a mid 60's P.. Can you share you thoughts on tone, feel and playability please? any comparisons. Anything you have learned from the experience Cheers
  19. Actually sunfire red..
  20. I just picked up a sunrise red/maple, or is it razor red? I've heard both names used. Red ones are super rare so I'm stoked.. I'm offshore and it's home waiting for me. Next purchase... a wide strap. Have to admit, I paid top dollar for it.. but I'd have paid more👍
  21. The process might be climbing, but I meant the Price's... damn you spell checker..
  22. Well, I'm very close to procuring. BB2000 for a handsome sum.. looks like the process are climbing:/
  23. This is a thread that has been done, but not for a while. I just wondered what opinions folk have of current value of a BB 2000, and BB1600. Let's say both are early eighties MIJ and in good condition. I'm considering swapping my Sandberg California VM 4 for a Really clean BB 1600, and I fancy a BB2000 too because I can 👍. I think it's tricky to value these Yammies. Any thoughts?
  24. Mesa strategy eight:88 has a 'record' designed for this.... if you can afford the mortgage!
