My Dad died from the same kind of cancer last year, I really really hope Wilko can now put this in the past, my Dad had similar op but wasn't successful, would be soooo great to have someone beat this poxy nasty condition. Bit emotional, sorry.

I have a BB414,the forerunner if you like of the BB424, the neck is about 38mm, but feels a little bit wider than my jazz for some reason,maybe it widens out more, not as deep though. Weight was bang on 4 kg as standard, but was a nit neck heavy, so put some Hipshot ultralites on which saved a bit of weight. Sounds incredible, massive, quite " dark" , hope this helps.

No, sorry, I meant it will only run at a minimum 4 ohm, obviously it will work fine with a single 8 ohm cab, whereas theBH500, although it says it will only run down to 4 ohm, if you use TCs own cabs you can run three 8 ohm cabs, or one 4 ohm plus one 8 ohm. Same with the RH 450/750, they can run the multi cabs as long as they're TCs own cabs. I've asked on here why that is, but noones quite sure! There are useful picture diagrams on TCs website showing which of their cabs you can run from each of their amps, and the new ones are more limited.

[/quote] Also just looked at the TC website, I own a BH500, and also the 410 and a 212 cab, and the new amps WON'T power these cabs together according to the site, they'll only power a 4 ohm load i.e. the 410 alone or 2x212 ( or 2x210 ). The BH 500 will power up to 3 of the 212 or 210 cabs, or 2 of the 410s, or a combination of these, which is great as I gig with no pa support and when playing big clubs I do use both my cabs together, although this is rare. So yay for lighter, cuter amp, nay for less speaker capability!!

The ones I ordered from Axesrus, they asked you what configuration you wanted on checkout, if that helps.

I got my "real" ones from axes r us, next day delivery from here in the UK for £80, however the cloverleaf type ones were more expensive, and a whisper heavier too!!

Fitted a set of these to my Yamaha BB414, though it looks very different to the massive lollipop types, now I'm used to the look I quite like the look. The difference in weight ,which is why I'm posting this, is incredible, the originals weighed 100grams each, the Hipshots are 44g each, in old money the weight loss over 4 tuners is half a pound, give or take, on a bass that weighed 9lb 1oz it now weighs 8lb 8oz! Anyone thinking of buying these, do !!

Got into a regular 2/3 gigs a month rock covers band, and loving it, and at age 45 the best thing is that most of the bands we cover are still out there gigging, and they're older than us. Some of them by some considerable margin...!

Marvellous looking bass! Same as Discreet above, in my mid forties fear I'd look a twat with one, LTD do a nice looking explorer type too, but love it.

Riverside are a Polish prog/metal/rock band who are heavy enough to be metal, but they have beautiful vocals and wonderfully crafted songs too. And all great musicians, including bass player Mariusz Duda who I really like. He uses a Mayones I think. Well worth a listen.

I got the previous generation BB414 as a cheap back up and its now my main gigging bass, just the most awesome passive tone, massive sounding in a rock environment.

"Let it go"......from the Frozen soundtrack is MASSIVE with the teens and unders right now. And Pearl Jam sneaked it into the jam in the middle section of Daughter, so its obviously a rock classic too......

I used it in soundcheck in a BIG pub on Friday, first time we played there, and to be honest the sound of the band was a mess, guitars too loud, as usual, but once we eventually balanced it out the bass sounded o.k. Unfortunately I then tried the Yamaha BB that I take as emergency back up and that sounded better, fuller, so gigged that. The amp was running quite hard so that didn't help. I think once we get back to playing our regular smaller pubs the jazz will be fine with the new pups, it's a definite improvement for the music we play, which is rock covers, though it's still not quite as " big" as the yamaha, so depends what you want your new pickups to do, I would say. Hope this helps , a bit, I know how much of a minefield it feels like!!

Hi guys, for anyone who asked me to post what I did and if anyone is in a similar situation, I just got a set of Dimarzio model J pickups and wired them in this afternoon, which was an adventure with my non existent soldering skills!! However, they are in and working, and WOW what a difference, only through my 30watt practice amp, but sounds like just what I wanted, did an A/B comparison with the Yamaha BB and they sound very similar now, the jazz is much more open and dark and BIGGER sounding, the Yam just swamped the output from the jazz before, now there is virtually no difference. Also they are humbuckers, so noiseless, hurrah, and the neck pup in particular sounds lovely and gritty. Can't wait to blast through the main rig next week! And all for £84 delivered from woodbrass in France, so the cost wasn't horrendous. Thanks for all the posts and suggestions given.

Was originally thinkng Ibanez SR 600 or similar to get a lightish back up, but stumbled across these Corts and they're cheaper than an Ibby SR300!!!!

Indeed, saw that, for some reason the alder body ones are a bit cheaper than the swamp ash, assume the ash ones are probably a tad lighter, I've mailed Thomann.
