1. So, I got a BH 500 head, and on their web site it clearly shows that you can run their 4x10 and 2x12 off the single speaker output. Here's the thing, the amp is minimum 4 ohm load, but the cabs are rated at 4 ohm for the 4x10 and 8 ohm for the 2 x12 , which should make it not do- able in my limited knowledge? The cabls is daisy chained out of the bigger cab. Like I say, its clearly shown amongst the options on their web page, and in fact i know someone who runs two of the 4x10 s off this amp. How ? Thanks to Alan off here for the sale by the way!
2. Yeah, Scorpions Love at first sting album, listened to it non stop back in the mid eighties, haven't listened to it for ? 20 years ?, then just grabbed it this morning and shoved it in the car. And to my old jaded ears, it's still bloody marvellous.
3. Bump for this, sorry I can`t commit to it,good luck with the sale.
4. Do you have photos, and is this still available please?
5. I have the 4 string version ,love it to bits, I find for rock stuff I blend toward the front pick up about half way,and you get a real mid growl, then for softer stuff the mid dent ( 50/50 ) is lovely. Then you can go toward the bridge pup for tighter funkier sound, but that`s outside my remit.....!!!!!!
6. First 2 Alice In Chains albums the bass is just "lovely" to me,absolute filth to some I would guess, but that`s good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nco_kh8xJDs
7. I was dead chuffed with Body Electric,it was the 1st Rush record....a single...!!!! ....that I ever bought, and I think (if memory serves..) that it had Analogue Kid on the "flip" side.
8. Even the youtube clips people took on their cameras/phones sounded clearer than being there!!! I usually wear earplugs when playing myself, and last night near the end I half placed my fingers in my ears, and could instantly hear everything much clearer. I guess (someone on here probably has the science) that the echo from the building is mostly to blame??? Always nice to see Rush though.
9. Sound was muddy in block 110,half way up,no drums at all and very echo-ey,as stated above the bass also vanished once the band kicked in but was great on it`s own. Think the first set was for the fans who`ve seen them a lot recently and don`t want to see the same songs all the time,I enjoyed it but the atmosphere seemed a bit lacking. The Clockwork Angels set with the strings blew me away, and the encores were back to classics, and I thought the "visuals" were my favouite of any recent tour. And the song The Garden was just beautiful with the background effects.
10. My 1st ever bass was a Squier P c.1985 ( brand new no less!!! ) ( prob Japanese made??? ) and it had one. Pretty useless for me, a small gangly 15 year old!!
11. I remember the patterns from a self remembered "root" note, i.e chorus may start on A so from E string 5th fret I`d remember the pattern of following notes until another " landmark" . I know this sounds a bit... odd....but I remember numbers and patterns better than the letters of the notes....!!!! Each to their own!!!!
12. Gallien Krueger MB 212 (mark 1 version if you can still get it ) is just about on budget,500 watts and light too.
13. Iron Maiden with no bass........ (shudders......)......
14.
And that, good sir, is rock. No funk in there. Can we please, please, please all stop using the word "groove" as we have established that it is a too ambiguous and widely defined word to be useful. My biggest problem is that I can listen to a song and instantly know whether a song is rock or funk according to my personal definitions, but can't articulate it accurately to save my life !
The thread is called "Groove or rock....",however.... You`re quite right, just the groove of certain rock players is what I was trying to highlight, for me, a pure rock listener, funk is quite another thing, there were some funk/metal crossover types in the mid 90`s, but I think the funkiness involved would have angered many a true funk fan, whereas I, as a rock fan, liked the extra dimension it gave to .....I don`t know...early Faith no more for example.
15.
Correct. Doug (Dug) Pinnick fits the description better than any other player mentioned. Imagine if there were bass players unfamiliar with his work - unthinkable!
They would surely feel the shame at missing out on such a legend!!!!!
16. http://youtu.be/mg3mUhGVCgo Groovy Rocky baby.
17. Kings X, the bass MAN...Doug Pinnick...welcome to the groove machine, he`s no slapper (!) but the man grooves and rocks like a monster. Check out the tunes "Pray" and "Welcome to the groove machine",amongst others.
18. Clive RIP. Still awed by the power of those drums at the start of The Prisoner, remember as a young lad listening to Maiden on my cassette Walkman under the duvet (!). Great memories.
19. We just learned it this week,I love it,see how it goes. It`s a cool riff,in a "rock" pub it`ll be good,in a "lads" pub it`ll probably die!!!!
20. Glad it`s not just me, I`ve just started doing a rock covers band, and all the 70`s stuff you can listen to and hear roughly what the bass is doing, even if not every single note, then come forward to new stuff and I`m mostly lost, having to look at TABs just to get an idea what`s happening. Metal stuff with low tunings too.....when you hear it live with the massive bass drum it`s just mush, whereas someone like Anthrax or Maiden, who are both pretty heavy but don`t down tune much, sound more punchy and heavy live. Or perhaps it`s just me....
21. Was just really wanting something nice and light ( weight wise) so I don`t have to lug the Peavey to every practice,it sounds great but it`s in a wooden rack thing and weighs a ton!!! Also love the simple EQ on those Ampegs, just a few rotary dials is my idea of heaven!!!
22. Thanks for posting this, was thinking of getting one for rehearsals and smaller gigs to go through a Warwick 4 ohm 4x10,in a loud hard rock band, wasn`t sure it would cut the mustard, sounds like may be worth a shot!
