Not sure whatever happened to Jason.... he was a bit...er.... odd!
Give me a shout when you`re playing, I`ll come along, are you doing your own stuff or covers now?? Yeah, Jason had a ...special .....personality,didn`t he.???
2.
Blimey I know you guys... think we've done gigs together in the dim distant past..... Do you remember 'Spank the Monkey'? ;o)
Yeah, my former (and 1st ) band mates Chuck the singer and Jason the guitarist were in that band,we played together a couple of times ....I`m thinking Dartford upstairs in a pub but could be wrong!!! We`ve cheered up a little bit ( musically ) since then!!! Good to hear you`re still playing!!
3. Love my band Mentally Yours, doing our own metal with melody type stuff, we reunited this year after few years apart because of having kids and other "life" stuff, and we just had our 25 year anniversary!!!! Writing new stuff too. All the guys are like brothers to me,we`re still the original line up minus the singer who we dumped 20 years ago, me and the rhythm guitarist share the vocals. Been in other bands, but this one is currently my only one, it`s like our baby....who`s now 25...!!!! Never any disputes or volume angst, we all play loud as hell.
4. Sorry,it`s still on hold for the chap who wants it,the head I was getting has been sold though,so not very happy!! Need to use it for rehearsal tonight, then next week I`ll see if I can locate another head I want otherwise may have to keep for a while, thanks for your enquiry though.
5. Thanks for the p.m`s, currently on hold for someone til next week, fingers crossed.
6.
going OT I know but it's hard to get a cup of coffee that isn't Nero, costa or starbucks. Can't even pop in tesco for a cheap brew and a bacon sarnie anymore as they're all bloddy costas too now.
I know some people don`t like McDonalds as a company, but their coffee is a good price and surprisingly good coffee!!!
7. Still for sale, will have to ebay soon, make an offer if you like? Quality bit of kit, especially good for a 1st rig.
8. I know,my band is heavy, but my gear needs to be light. Oh the irony.......
9. Thanks mate, you`re right,it`s not that hefty,it`s just the studio we use is miles (not literally!!) from the car park, and I`m getting old. And lazy!
10. C`mon people, great mid level head, only selling cos of my dodgy back meaning it`s too hefty to lift for me!!!
11. PEAVEY TOUR 450 Bass guitar amplifier,450 watts into 4 ohm load, excellent condition, been cased for it`s whole life. 2 years old, reliable as all Peavey stuff, solidly built too. Lots of tone shaping with full graphic e.q. and bass/treble shelving controls. Has 2 speakon/jack sockets for speakers, balanced DI out for connecting to PA,tuner out,and effects loop. 2U rack space. Great sound from a workhorse amp. £150, plus postage which should be about £20 cos it`s not light,or pick up from Essex, near Lakeside. Cheers!
I wouldn't use a Promethean for rehearsing with a loud metal band - or any small combo, for that matter.
Sorry, I meant only the head rather than the combo version,I`d still use the 4x10 as it`s on castors so easy to move about!!!

Been wondering about these too, want something just for rehearsals ( in a v.loud metal / rock band) so don`t have to cart my heavy peavey around all the time. Would a GK MB200 be loud enough through a Warwick 4x10 I wonder....???? The 500w on offer with the redsub seems a better deal,but......
15. I got a 2nd hand corvette standard (2006.German made) off the bay about 6 months ago for £350 and the bloke brought it to my house!!!! Best bass I ever owned in 20+ years of playing, search out a good used one. Did try a new Chinese one in bass merchant (RIP), which was still a very good instrument for the money, but had a maple neck rather than the dark wood. The German one does feel a bit more "substantial" if that makes sense, not heavier though.
16. As new condition, fits Gotoh style basses, I`m guessing Ibanez and Warwick would be main uses. With original packing, full instructions and original mounting screw, all ready to go,it`s about 2 months old. How about £50 posted to the UK,or PM me an offer,no outside uk please!! Payment by paypal if poss.
17. In my originals metal band, about 10 years ago,I only used the 5 string, everything was in d flat or low b, but we split up,then reformed last year, and I play the same songs on standard 4 string now, because people used to say they couldn`t hear me playing on all those low notes!! I thought to myself, well Steve Harris and Frank Bello only very rarely de tune, and no one misses them in the mix, so sod it I`ll try it, and am very pleased with the results. Covers are a different bag though, I would guess,as you need to sound like the original.
18.
Add the fact that Paypal are a bunch of shameless, brass-necked festering horse cocks
Really DID make me LOL, and spat some tea out too....good work!!!!!
19. I used a Peavey TVX 410 cab for 10 years in a powerful metal band, never needed any more cabs, the head at the time was a Hartke 3500. Used a powerful active 5 string Washburn bass through it and with the volume on 4 it was able to destroy buildings. This was in the 90`s, I now use a Peavey Tour 450 into a Warwick 410,and it`s not quite as good as the other set up,but not far off. Peavey kit is good, just a bit unfashionable.
20. Wanted to disagree with the thread, but last night played venue, using my Warwick Standard Corvette into peavey 450 tour head into Warwick wca410 cab (not a high end rig,but a decent budget rig in my eyes/ears), and sound was d.i.`d into the large p.a (bigish venue), we played, all sounded o.k, then listening to the second band ( very good they were too) I remarked to a friend that the bass was a bit loud for the mix. "Yeah" she said " though yours was too quiet, I thought ". The guy in the second band was running an Epiphone T bird into a small Fender Rumble combo ( obviously he was d.i`d too ). Just goes to show, the sound man holdeth the key in these venues!!!
21. Cheers, Musky, think the rehearsal room did have a dimmer and those little halogen bulbs.
22. For anyone else with similar problem, the amp in my house only causes the bass to buzz when the router/computer is switched on,I have deduced!!!! It`s in the same room, and when off,not a whisper from the bass /amp.As far as the studio goes, I`m guessing maybe a lighting thing maybe happening? Anyway, happily, not a fault with the bass, fingers crossed.
23. Thanks for that, I`ve done 1 gig with this set up and it was fine,no Di, just sound from the amp,it just worried me a bit that through those smaller amps I was getting such a racket!!! Will see how it goes friday.
24.
I'm not familiar with the MEC pickups fitted to these, but single coils are prone to picking up interference - and mains transformers will produce a LOT of interference at close quarters. You'll probably find the buzzing will lessen as you turn the bass within the transformers magnetic field. Some amps are better at suppressing the interference than others, and some transformers inherently produce less interference (toroidal transformers, for instance). Your main amp seems to be better in that respect. But get close enough and I suspect you could coax some buzz out of it.
This makes a lot of sense, and yes,if I`m still near the amp and turn the bass round, the buzzing lessens when I`m at 90degrees to the front of amp, whereas it`s bad when I`m square on to it. Hopefully won`t be an issue live,as I`ll be further from the amp,and it`ll be my big rig anyway. Just hope it won`t buzz through the DI. Thanks for all ideas!! Playing this Friday at Chinnerys in Southend....
25. The bass is "as new",so guessing not cavity shielding, looking in the back of the bass it all looks original and unmodified. The pickups are the single coil "jazz" type ones, perhaps it`s just them picking up something. Will try the laney combo in a different room later!!
