Sadly another musician/bassist passes away
sykilz replied to warwickhunt's topic in General Discussion
Y&T were one of the first rock bands I got into, initially because of the cover art on their albums, but I loved their mix of hard rock and catchy songs, a real shame Phil has passed away, I don`t think Y&T ever quite got the huge success they deserved compared to other American rock bands. I`m off to listen to Black Tiger album. -
Glad you`re enjoying this one, wish I had the guts to order it and see how long it takes the credit card company to phone me up........

I had a similar one as a back up bass a few years ago, not bad for £130 new, but look how much they`re charging now. Wish I`d kept mine now.!! Is a bass more aesthetically pleasing than a guitar?
sykilz replied to Marvin's topic in General Discussion
Basses headstocks just look better due to being less cluttered but having nice big bits of metal on them. I`ve got an Ibanez SR series and the whole thing is just gorgeous for a " cheap " bass, the Ibanez guitars just ain`t as damn pretty. I do love a big top horn too.....oooooeeerrr misses!!!![attachment=53689:ibanez_002.jpg] -
The Guy from Steel Panther was using one on Friday at Brixton, make of this what you will, but it sounded o.k if nothing special.

FS/FT My Upgraded MIM Fender Standard Jazz £300
sykilz replied to paganskins's topic in Basses For Sale

***WITHDRAWN FROM SALE***CHANGED MIND, SORRY.... Hi, Up for sale is my NEW Ibanez Sr300, literally a week old, impulse buy because it was cute and sounded the nuts when solo`ed in the shop, unfortunately in a band situation it doesn`t fit the bill for my classic rock styley band, I mostly use a Precision, and the active Ibby isn`t " fat " enough in the mid range if that makes sense! I`m sure anyone looking at this knows the score, tons of spec for the price, mid band sweeper control, active bass/treble and pick up blending knob.Would be perfect for metal or slap funk. Theres not a mark on it,mint, perfecto! Pearl white finish, lovely. I have all original paper work, tags, box, allen keys and packaging. Looking for £200 posted to you, they`re £235 in the shops, and it`s days old,why pay the shop the money? Alternatively would be interested in trade for a back up for my P bass, maybe a Yamaha BB series,or MIM Jazz with cash your way? Please feel free to email or PM any trades, can only say no thanks! Cheers. I tried both back to back at PMT a while back, and thought the passive was better, the output was virtually identical, and less knobs on to confuse you with the passive.....!!!! As previous poster suggested you can always add an offboard pre amp later if required.
-
That`s very kind,I opened up the back to take a look, and it still has the pre amp which is on a circuit board, but looking at the pots they don`t match, I think you may have been right about the 2 different types not being matched, so I`m thinking that if I can find someone who knows what they`re doing it may be a case of replacing the pots. I will drop you an email if someone suggests I need that part though, thanks very much!!!!!!

Thanks for all input!!! If you remember can you let me know how it goes Monday, Cheers!!!!

Unfortunately haven`t got old ones, didn`t use this bass for a while, then came back to her and found fault. I can e.q. out the problem, but might be better to upgrade what are fairly old electronics. Such a bloody good bass though!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I have a 1992 Washburn 5 String that I keep going back to cos I love the sound so much, but last year it needed a new jack socket, and then while being repaired by a "local guy" the pots needed replacing too. Now the controls are 1 volume, 1 bass and one treble, with a 3 way switch for the 2 active pickups. Because the type of pots fitted were no longer available he fitted different types, but now the bass and treble are just full on or full off with no in between!! I think it may be worth my while getting all new electrics fitted, maybe just keeping the pickups, does anyone know a good.....reasonably priced.....person who could do this for me,I`m in South Essex between Romford and Southend and would prefer someone local? How much do you reckon it would cost? Thanks in advance!!!!! [attachment=43070:autumn_2009_027.jpg] Its the one on top in this photo, couldnt rotate it!!!
