Hi there, decided to sell my 1 year old combo and get bigger stack, bought from Bass Merchant, all in excellent condition, it`s on a best offer thing on ebay, but could do a deal on here if antone fancies it?? Cheers, located Essex near Lakeside. Here`s a link to the ebay, save typing it all out again!!!!! Iron Maiden for me, and yes I could be first to get my foot up on the monitors ahead of Bruce, just wouldn`t be as good as Steve Harris when I got there........

I noticed that about my mim p bass, it has serial no. MZ1 106573, too many digits according to Fender site!!

I had a Peavey 410 TVX for 15 years, wish I never sold it, put a Hartke 3500 head through it, played heavy stuff with lots of low D and B, always perfect!!!

So I`m in this quandry, I run a Hartke 210 combo 250 watts, and need a bit more oomph. The amp won`t let you use an extension cab as it`s own speakers are 4 ohm and it runs at minimum 4 ohm, I did consider using the head out of the combo into a new, larger cab for larger gigs and using the combo speakers for practice, but this seems a bit of a waste of time. Now I`m wondering if I should get a powered sub to run from the line out of the amp, thus using the amps speakers and an additional 15 or 18 incher???? Of course the sensible thing is to sell the combo and start again, but I like the tone and the portability of it, and frankly I`m not overly burdened with cash at the moment. Anyone tried this idea with success/failure???

Cheers. I did run a seperates system for 12 years, a Hartke 3500 into a Peavey 4x10, and it was awesome, but sold it when I stopped playing when the kids were born. Since then just started again and hoped technology would allow me to use something smaller, but I guess I need something bigger or much more expensive and small ( which ain`t going to happen, I`m told !!). Much appreciated wisdom, will scour the depths of evil bay.

Thanks guys, I did think of the idea of going into the PA, I will see how receptive the owner of the studio is to that idea!!! Live I`ve gone DI to the PA and had no problem, that was the attraction of a small rig, to use as a monitor. I`ll try my old Washburn active 5 stringer next rehearsal and see if I can blow a speaker !!!!!!!!!!! Cheers.

Thought that may be.....did consider taking the head part of the combo out and using through a new 4 ohm cab, either 4x10 or 1x15 with tweeter, as I like the sound I get from the amp right up til it distorts!!!!!
-
Unfortunately there`s no extension possibility, as the combo has only 1 output and the speaker is 4 ohm, and the amp says minimum 4 ohm, so I could use another cab, but not the on board one. Perhaps I`m in the wrong band....!!!!!!!! Could an Aphex xciter give me the fatter sound????

Help guys, I`m playing in a band with 2 loud guitars playing original hard rock stuff, and play mainly a stock Fender P Mexico through a newish ( 1 yr old ) Hartke hydrive combo, the 2x10, 250 watt version. I have to run the volume control up to 6 out of 10, and if I put much in the way of e.q. on it the speakers struggle and begin to distort. This is much worse when used in kick back position. I`m not sure if it did this from new or if it`s got worse, as the band has got louder and louder, so now not sure if it`s a speaker fault or just the inevitable " headroom" been reached, I realise that amps and speakers peak and distort long before volume 10, but am frankly a bit disappointed. Hartke claim it`s almost impossible to overdrive the amp, but I`m doing it easily!!!! Any advise welcome!!!!!!!!

Thanks mate, just over the "big" road from where I live!!! If you remember to give me a shout I`ll come see ya!!!
-
Thanks, appreciate that!! The fact it has a "big bottom" control is making me want it, but with the price of cabs being so low on evil-bay right now, I think a trial run with another cab may be most effective. Annoyingly the Hydrive only has 1 speaker out, so I`ll have to take the head out and use on it`s own.

Has anyone got the Aphex 1402 bass xciter pedal, I`ve read a lot about them, and it sounds like I could use one, I run through a 250 watt combo, and want a sound that`s just a little bit "bigger". Obviously i thought I`d have to upgrade to a 4x10 , but people say that the Aphex expands your sound and makes you sound louder, and here`s the part I really don`t get, without placing extra load on the speakers. This would be ideal as my speakers are running just below clipping point at larger gigs with no p.a.. I`d welcome any knowledge or experience anyone has, positive or negative. Meanwhile I`ll just look at some more 4x10`s...........
