Just a little update for anyone who experiences the scratchy frets if they buy one of these...a few weeks in and it's all good, I spent some time just rubbing each string on each fret ( bending the fretted note up and down) which didn't sound nice , but smoothed the frets off nicely. I guess there was some production / shipping residue, or maybe just cheap fretwire, but whatever they're smooth as anything now and bass plays lovely.

😆😆 seriously though I don't know why any guitar/bass is made without a forearm contour, it's basic good manners.

Love this ❤️ Dare I say that I prefer it without pickguard/scratchplate, but that's just me I prefer pretty much all basses without one. Glad it's making you happy👍🤘👍

Finally succumbed to the lure of one of these. Enjoying it a lot, balances beautifully, plays nicely and (IMO) looks the business. Pros.....fit and finish is awesome. The neck pocket is the best I think I've seen. Some don't like the bridge and tuners but I see nothing wrong with either, in fact I love the bridge it's like a slightly modernised fender bbot bridge ( which I like). Nice size, nice weight, balances perfectly. Neck is Lovely and thin but feels solid. Sounds punchy and open. Roadster Orange baby!!!!!! Cons.....the single coil pup hums like anything, I know they all do but this one seems very sensitive. Luckily the P pup is great. The frets ( all very well fitted and no sharp edges) feel a little 'scratchy' , or could be the strings. Hopefully this will disappear as it gets played in a bit. The active electronics are very sensitive, a little movement makes a lot of difference. The bass is naturally zingy so careful on the treble!!

Eddie Vedder's not really a pop star, but this is pretty cool. And for chaaaaaaarity too.

I recently got 'into' the band Gojira ( I'm 51, give me a break....) and their stuff sounds like it's all done on the low end of a five string, but all the youtube videos show the bassist using a regular 4 string P bass, so guess the 5er isn't all that necessary. Also some of my favourites are Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, who both just use detuned 4 stringers rather than a 5.

Whitesnake are often overlooked but "Live in the Heart of the City" double album has some great bass playing by Neil Murray on it, I love the mix on that album.

"Football's coming home...." ( repeat til fade) Where do you start with this one. IT NEVER LEFT...... people have played football here ( UK) since it was invented. If, as the other lyrics of this song would allude, we are referencing the World Cup trophy, or even the Euro trophy (as that was what the song was written prior to), well it clearly isn't 'coming home' because to do that you need to win football matches against the other countries, and that's just not fair because they have all the good players.

I have a Yamaha BB414 and it's solid as a rock, I think the tones available from the BB234 would be great for the music styles you listed, in my opinion the PJ arrangement is one of the best there is. The only downside....the body is pretty big, though not overly heavy, this may be of no concern to you though. 👍

Remember clearly the shock when I first saw that video!! I guess most players have had a dalliance with other guitars but considering the volume of shows Maiden do the P bass has some miles on it, though it's probably like Triggers broom now....new frets, new neck, new paint job, new body bits....😆😆

Steve Harris P bass, though it's been refinished a few times, also think Dave Murray of Maiden has used that black strat for years.

Sorry for the slight OT.....but I'm assuming your new Ibanez must be pretty nice to forego your Stingray beauty ( I can sympathise with medical probs, just had 5 weeks off work with bad back) , I was thinking of getting one for purely home use, as such as long as it sounds ok that will do, but I'd like it to play nicely,( decent action ), if that makes sense...?

The reporter on BBC news has also said you won't be permitted to raise your voice as that may increase projectiles from peoples mouths. So only very very quiet bands .......It seems a bit of a ridiculous list of restrictions to be honest, and of course it's virtually unenforceable.

I haven't read all the small print because I don't gig anymore or even go to pubs that much, but one of our local pubs says it won't be reopening because ( amongst other reasons) there is a ban still on 'vertical drinking'.....i.e standing in the pub and drinking, everyone needs to be seated. Would this include the band...??????

Maiden have done 5 studio albums since Bruce re-joined the band in 2000, I've been a Maiden fan since 1983 so it's tough for me to say whether these albums are as influential as the first 5/6 albums, but aside from Final Frontier which was a bit patchy, the others are all pretty good, especially,IMO, A Matter of Life And Death, which is awesome throughout, and Book of Souls which starts superbly before running out of steam. Brave New World is an excellent'reboot' album, sounding fresh and exciting throughout, for me it's one of their best sounding albums. Is any of this radically different from their 'signature' sound? Honestly....... no. Theyhave their sound, they have their (massive, world wide) audience and they know exactly what they want, and provide it with style. one of my new era favourites....

Always wanted one of these. And to be fair, it does look fairly comfy too as the body is quite tiny where you pluck. These desperate times are screaming for bright shiny pointy guitars and bubblegum lyrics. 😉👍🤘👍

Hold on....I just did a google search for semi acoustic bass and it cropped up....it's a Musima 1657B apparently quite rare..!!!

Boring bass is a hard term to quantify, in as far as has been said, it's surely the player that is boring, but I guess maybe the image that the bass lends to the player can be boring...? I can never find the Fenders boring as my favourite two bassists are Steve Harris and Geddy Lee, and I grew up musically in the mid eighties so I love the futuristic and pointy basses and sleek new designs. The only design/image combo that I personally would consider boring are those huge semi acoustic things with "f" holes on them. I find them ok visually but can't imagine anything musically exciting happening on them.

Someone already said early Van Halen, which is, of course , the correct answer, but also for me it's this......I know it's pure cheeeeeeeeese but I don't care, it lifts me up and puts a smile on my head. ( in fact the whole Cuts Like a Knife album 😊)

Was there too. Great band, and for me the 'new' singer admirably walked the fine line between respecting Scott's legacy and putting his own mark on the band.
