Prosebass headless singlecut travel bass
wrinkleygit replied to pete.young's topic in Basses For Sale
This was actually made for "old slapper", it was this bass that put me back into headless mode, gigged it several times & it always sounded ace,I found the neck a little chunky (read precision like) for my tastes, sold it along with a few other bits to fund my sei headless 5 purchase, the hardware alone is worth close to the asking price, best of luck bump, mike b -

I think the problem is the made in england instead of made in usa label on the back of the neck, having owned many les p's & a prs custom over the years guitar players ignore these at your loss. How about for one week ony, buy this & I will throw in a free 100 watt roland cube combo in white tolex (had this in a deal with skezza a little while ago, think it is an 80's model), great guitar amp & gigworthy, anyone tempted ??? mike b. -

Thank for the replies, had comments from people at the back of a room telling me how clear/well defined the sound of my bass comes accross, wouldn't describe the emg's as aggressive sounding although I did turn down the preamp gain a touch when I first got hold of the bass, Certainly I am happy with the pickup/preamp combination that I have but I suppose its only human nature to wonder how the origional setup sounded, perhaps one day a pair of bart 5 string jazzers will apear for sale & I may be tempted to give 'em a go. mike b.

Hello,my old sei headless still has it's origional bartolini pre amp, but at some point the orig bart "jazz" style pickups have been swapped for emg's, often wondered what the bass sounded like with the origional preamp & pickup combination, anyone out there swapped barts & emg's like to make any comments, thanks, mike b. (emg's are unpowered/passive type )

My headless 5 sidelined every other bass incl my overwater, can't imagine playing anything else now, bought s/h from the gallery last year & never regretted it for a moment [attachment=98566:misc 006.jpg] deserves better than this iphone pic (ser no 11 for those interested) mike b.

I would agree with shaker's comments, the only thing I would add is to look at how close the pickup pole pieces are to the strings,my preference is beteween 3-5 mm when strings fretted at the end of the neck, if the gap is too wide this will give you weak sound, also speaker choice will have some effect on your amplified sound, mike b.

New to the recording lark, what headphones would you recommend?
wrinkleygit replied to vmaxblues's topic in Recording
If you can afford around the £120 mark try good old beyer dt100 or dt150's , the 100 are good all purpose h'phones , ideal if you want them for hifi use as well, the 150 has a little more bass response ,great if you practice bass thro phones .Used to have some 100/s, but settled on a pair of 150's when I needed new phones earlier this year, more than happy with them also comfy for long term use, try as many different sorts as you can tho ,if they don't feel comfy on your head you probably won't be happy in the long run, best of luck, mike b. -
Damn, never mind I'm in no hurry tho' so would be happy to put this on hold for a while to see how you get on with the roland, a backup 5er is what I would realy like .Used to have a 750 roadster some years ago, but the wet sumping drove me mad (until I fitted an oil tap combined with an ign switch on it) also the high fuel cons & small fuel tank was a pain, went like a scalded cat tho, great fun to ride, keep in touch, mike b.
