  1. Hello,I would second the GK,for sound ,volume & portability, used mine now for over twelve months with a 5 piece blues band & also at jam sessions where I have been with a drummer behind a keyboard player & up to five other guitar players all at once (& that was without an ext cab)always cuts thro & amazes onlookers that something so small is not a practice amp & can deliver so much vol & tone all on its own. When I play at our local pub (about 10 minute walk) I always turn up on foot with a bass on my back & the gk in one hand, wouldn't swap it for anything, try one if you can,all the best in your search, mike b.
  2. Pro amp quality at practice amp price, these are feature packed & possible to carry one handed, this one is in good cond for its age,I have only used it once this year, loud enough for pub or even med size hall gigs, you can Di for anything bigger, collection only, may be interested in an ashbory or hohner b2 headless (not a jack tho) as part of a trade, this has to be a gift at £125 located close to junc 28/M5 [attachment=38340:2004_010...liot0001.JPG]
  3. My weapon of choice is the GK MB150s,use this in a 5 piece blues band & also for jam sessions, for a really large venue I hook up a 1x12 ext cab, never run out of vol yet or needed to DI,also light enough for my arthritic frame to carry to the local pub (no I don't live next door),try one if you can,all the best, mike b.
  4. Best bet is to move or fit another strap pin to allow the body end to hang slighly lower,a rough guide try moving the bottom pin by 70mm.If you have three hands or someone to hold the bass while its around your neck you can get a better idea of where to fit the pin by holding the free end of the strap against the body of your bass ,Works for me ,mike b.
  5. Nice to see my old faithfull has found a new home,it was strung with stainless elites when I traded it with giblet some time ago, also used status hot wires but didn't really notice any difference between the two brands, best thing I remember about this was it never needed re-tuning,I did check it once a year though ,just in case.Enjoy it, a headless status is something that everyone should own at least once, mike b.
  6. as a corvette has just sold for £500 I will give this one last try, price reduction bump, mike b.
  7. This used to be mine, the electronics were upgraded by status, spec is master vol, pan, treble cut/boost & bass cut/boost.Only reason I sold this was I found status necks a little wide for my arthritic fingers . A headless Status is something that every bass player should own at least once in their lifetime, double ball strings are easy to source or you can use single ball & clamp them at the nut,Great bass for someone out their, best of luck with the sale, mike b
  8. Yes fits my manly curves perfectly, mike
  9. Looks like its back to the wardrobe for this one.
  10. I did think about a defret at one time but an email from overwater put an end to that idea, the chrome hardware is origional & in excellent condition, always been an option from warwick & in my opinion looks better than aged/worn black hardware, mike.
  11. Shameless pre weekend bump before I consign this to the back of the wardrobe. mike b.
  12. Yes its still for sale, kept it on hold for someone from this forum who has failed to turn up on two pre arranged attempts, for anyone else now looking at this here are three simple questions- 1 Do you wan't to own a warwick thumb 4bo - yes/no 2 Do you have the funds to purchase the advertised instrument - yes/no 3 Are you in a position to collect this bass from Devon - yes/no If you faill to answer yes to all three questions there seems to be little point in proceeding any further. I have dealt with some great people on this forum in the past,so I'm sorry if this sounds a little cynical, mike b.
  13. Nurse !!! he's out of bed again !!!!

  17. For all those interested,I am about 10 mins drive from M5/j28, mike b.
  18. This has taken a back seat since I bought my ow fretless,my musicman now gets used at jam sessions & it seems a waste to have this gathering dust at home. Neck & frets are in excellent order, low action, great player, body does have some battle scars (mainly around the edges),has brass adjustanut, ser no dates it as 94,no case so collection only, pro quality bass now only £decided to hang on to this afer all [attachment=33916:thumb1.JPG] [attachment=33917:thumb2.JPG] [attachment=33918:thumb3.JPG] [attachment=33919:thumb4.JPG] best described as a players instrument, not really looking for trades on this, mike b.
  19. nearest thing I have ever found is the forum on - vintageguitars.org.uk also has a section on vintage basses.
  20. Just rec a reply from MM,forgot they haven't a bank hol today, with a circuit diag, wiring checks out ok looking like a faulty switch anybody else had trouble with these, unfortunately I will have to strip out to check properly, mike b.
  21. anyone out there fitted a nordy to a sterling,I have just aquired a mm sterling with a nordy mm4.3 pickup fitted, however there is no signal with the 3 way switch in centre pos,I've emailed nordy but as yet have had no reply, also had a search on the mm forum without any luck, a photo of the sterling circuit board showing the pos of orig pu wires would help, thanks, mike b.
  22. Korg Pandora is my weapon of choice, really versatile piece of kit, good battery life, loads of sounds & effects, aux input for cd,mp3 or as I do link up to the pooter where I store loads of music & jam along thro' headphones without disturbing anyone else, later models have 'bass cancel' feature also drum machine, amazing how they cram so much into a small box,all the best, mike b.
  23. Nice to see someone else in this part of the world,if your close to exeter, check out blues jam night, first thurs of every month, stoke arms, prince charles rd,exeter, all the best, mike b.
  24. traded this morning, all the best chris, excellent swap, thanks again ,mike b.
  25. Having for decades struggled with gear that felt like somebody had nailed it to the floor at the end of a gig, these are the routes that I have taken, firstly I tried out the three l'weight options that were available in this part of the world, markbass,pj &gk,finaly settled on the gallien krueger mb150s,gives a good core sound & will hold its own on small pub gigs, for larger gigs I now link this in one of two ways to my old trace blx combo, plan a is to use the trace speaker as an ext cab or plan b,run from the gk line out to the effects return of the trace (this method bypasses the trace pre amp section & feeds direct into its power amp side).I am currently loking for a 15" powered monitor that I can use instead of the blx to shift more air & increase the low end.If you have an active bass the output should also be sufficient to drive a powered monitor on its own.I would keep your PJ & use it to feed something else in the same manner, powered ext spkr is definately the way to go if you want to keep it light, simple & if your lucky, cheap, all the best, mike .
