Finaly decided to part with this as I haven't used it since aquiring the warwick,42mm nut width is just a little too wide for my stubby arthritic digits,I believe origional owner had status upgrade the actives to type 701 circuit (see status website for full spec) & kept the bass as a spare, second owner only had it for a few months (couldn't get on with headlessness),I have cherished it ever since,my antiquated digi camera hasn't really done this justice, the neck is like new,the body is in black with a metalic grey fleck in the finish, there are a couple of laquer cracks in the neck pocket, see photo, original hardcase is in good condition.Collection only as I would wan't any buyer to to see & try it before parting with their cash.Low serial number 19- ,haven't seen a 4000 for sale for some time so I think £650 is about right given the condition, only thing I would consider in a trade would be an overwater 4,fretted or f'less with cash either way, must get round to painting my shed, mike b. I'll try & get some good pics this weekend (if I can put the bass down for long enough)for that thread, in the meantime here's a taster, mike . [attachment=28216:fretless_1.jpg]

Hello, recently I have searched long & hard for a fretless 4 & during the past weeks I have been fortunate to place my hands on the likes of Zon,Pedulla,Warwick & Fender, but rather than boost the American or European economies I suggest you contact Chris or Laurence at Overwater (email or phone) which is the route that I finaly took & in my case was fortunate to purchase a used Progress fretless that they had in stock,it arrived this morning & it is truly stunning.Out of all the instruments that I have played this is far & away the best use of my hard earned cash, good luck in your quest, mike b.

Time to move this on as my poor arthritic fingers need a narrower neck,Status Energy 4 string unlined wooden neck ( 42mm at nut ),lovely figured ash body, low action, mwah by the bucketfull, ideal entry to the world of fretless at only £340,collection only as I have no spare case . Its also in much better condition than my shed, the lighter markings that show in the body are patterns in the grain & not scuffs or scratches, Now only £315 ,how cheap is this !!! WARNING!!! DO NOT APPLY THIS PRODUCT TO YOUR FINGERS PRIOR TO VISITING THE TOILET Other than that the old Germaline LS certainly does what it says on the tin, last night I survived a 2 hour rehearsal, the coating gave up just before the last two numbers,my finger is healing well & I don't forsee any problems for the weekends gigs,Definately something to keep in the gigbag. mike.

Hello, thanks for all the advice, this is the plan so far- arrived home this evening & started building up layers of germaline liquid skin,I aim to rest the finger as much as possible before tomorrow nights rehearsal, when armed with a selection of finger picks, surgical gloves to cut off the finger tips & a roll of insulating tape I will let the band know that I may have a problem. If I survive & make it to saturday night's gig I will keep you all posted,in the meantime keep the advice flowing, mike b.

OK,with two important gigs next weekend, rebuilding my mountain bike & subsequently trapping my r/h index finger beween the brake caliper & rotating front brake disc was probably not a good idea. That aside I am now left with a flap of skin & a deep cut in the worst possible place,my daughter seems to think that there is such a product as liquid skin. Any one out there with any knowledge or ideas on how to repair & harden up the end of my damaged plucking finger,I seem to remember reading that stevie ray vaughen used super glue to harden the tips of his fingers, what I don't want is a hideous sceptic mess so only sensible tried & tested ideas please, mike b.
