1. Selling my as new Velvet Anima 'D' and 'A' strings. These are awesome and deserve all the great reviews they get. Im having to accept that i play more Jazz and that the Thomastiks are better for my bass... £45 posted. (whole set new is £195)
 2. The best live double bass sounds ive heard are Avishai Cohen (realist pickup, blended with EV RE20) and Jon Thorne has a beautiful tone. He uses the Schertler Dyn-B through the Schertler PUB. Im using an Acoustic Image Clarus, EA Wizzy 1x10 and the Realist pickup. To be honest, its a good simple setup that works well for me. I am curious about the scherlter stuff through. Does anybody have any experiences or thoughts on them? Im thinking of trying the STAT-B...
 3.
What about the E string? I have a set of velvets on my bass at the moment. I do like them but the E snapped pretty early on. I managed to knot it, and it's OK, but I reckon it will be the first to need replacing..
no E string im afraid..
 4. EV RE20- amazing for everything.
 5.
Hi Did you sell this? Thanks Gareth
hey, i didnt in the end. its a mighty fine amp and i was bein half assed about it, you interested in buying? regards, greg
 6. Anybody string shopping? Pretty much brand new set of strings going for half price. These are great strings and highly regarded, just a shame my bass dosent get on with 'em. Heres the ebay link- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=150327039724 Also considering selling my 3 month old Velvet Anima A,D,G strings. Lovely gut like strings, but it seems like my bass likes the Thomastiks. If your interested, make me an offer.
 7. ive been playing one for a year and its been fine. but you'll need to look at replacing the endpin and get a decent set of strings on it pretty quickly. ive only been playing upright for just over a year and it seems to be a great beginner to intermediate instrument. good luck with it.
 8.
Thanks for the replies guys, it's much appreciated!
hi terry, could you let me know the weight of it please? id be really interested. also, what state is the paint work on it?
 9.
I don't suppose you'd be interested in a trade for a Radial JDI Duplex would you?
sorry, i needs the cash..
 10. it kills me to do this, but i have to put up for sale my beloved Avalon preamp. this really is as good as the reviews of it are. its awesome in the studio, and ive used it to great effect in live situations too. have a look around at some reviews if need be. its in immacualate condition. hopefully itll go to a good home... £260 posted.
 11. For sale, Fishamn full circle pickup. I bought it off a thoroughly decent bass chatter last week (chkelly) , but im a dumbass. my adjustable bridge is a custom build and the thread on the fishman dosent fit my bridge bt quite a bit. the fishman will fit standard bridges no problem, but my custom wont take it. I paid £80 posted for it last week, so ill be looking to sell it for the same. Great pickup, wish i could use it... Heres what the original seller said- Fishman Full Circle pickup - SOLD Brilliant natural sounding pickup, a lot cleaner, more focused and more feedback resistant than the Gage Realist. It's the 6 x 1mm version so if you already have bridge adjusters of that size, just can just swap them out to install the pickup. Alternatively, a good luthier will install it for about £30. I've just ordered a Schertler pickup for my new bass so the Fishman won't be getting any use. Further info can be found on the Fishman website http://www.fishman.com/products/details.asp?id=17
 12. still sold? credit card at the ready...
Sold Thanks to all who showed interest.
13. ok, this may be someones bag... i was between cab and used up some parts i had around to make this little beast. i took it to the world famous bailey brothers to do it properly, so its bonafide. its a enclosure from my old gallien kreuger microbass amp with a brand new Neodynium speaker that is rated at 400w RMS and runs at 8ohms. its incredbily light, no, it really really is. its puts out a decent amount of volume and would be useful for anyone wanting a small practice setup, a lightweight travel cab for gigs, a extension cabinet for existing unit. the speaker alone is worth £70, the rockbag £30, the enclosure cost £130 18months ago. its got a speakon connection for any modern heads, if needed you could have me 1/4 adaptor for £5 and use it on anything. this little bugger is the lightest, ugliest and cheapest cab option i can think of at the mo. 14. price drop before it has to go on ebay (gulp)....
 15. yup, thats the one. go and try it out. i gotta clear some money...
I think it is. Steve had a transformer knocking around in there.
16. gotta sell some more stuff... heres my much loved Muzak Valve Amp. Its great for Bass/Guitar/anything and ive used it on small gigs and its particularly good for recordings. just plug into a cab with a 1/4 jack and go. this has a great, warm, fat valve sound and is well worth a look. its rated at 8 watts, but thats 8watts in valve terms so itll kick out enough for rehearsals/practice amp/recordings. it looks great on stage with the valves glowing amber. you'll need to use a step-down transformer to work it as its on american plug/voltage. you really dont see many of these about and id rather not sell, but times are tough etc... feel free to email any questions
 17. in excellent condition, just over a year old and comes with a rockbag carry bag worth about £30. used mostly as a practice amp, and is in imaculate condition. selling to fund other bass toys... £310 Posted with the Rockbag
 18. PM'd Owen,
Bump - offers.
19. having a bit of a clear out. heres some DVD's for sale. Essential Techniques for Acoustic Bass Lesson One - Todd Phillips Essential Techniques for Acoustic Bass Lesson Two - Todd Phillips (SOLD) The Acoustic Bass - Gary Peacock All in new condition, excellent stuff if your on the upright. the gary peacock dvd has some awesome stuff on playing jazz. Each dvd is £10 (postage included) or £25 for all three. they cost about £25 each whne i bought 'em.
 20. best sound- my '68 P-Bass going through my '61 Ampeg B15N...definately. great sound, not good for the back. best touring kit- P-Bass and Avalon U5 Preamp, just DI and get the monitor to do the job of the cab. filthy. Double Bass setup- still experimenting....a lot. Was really impressed by a mates Mark Bass and Bergantino Ht112 setup too, those bergs are ridiculous. Really want to try a Fender Bassman (silver or blackface) though, whats the verdict on those?
Ummm, interesting thread! I think my gear in some sort of vague order would go: Laney G300 with a big old Fender silver face 1x15 & a dinky Laney 2x10 extension cab - surprisingly "OK" combination although the Laney 2x10 wasn't up to much! Trace Elliot Twin Valve 1x15 combo - fell for the valve sound for a while but a bit of a beast to lug around Gallien Kreuger MB150 combo - my antidote to the weight of the Trace but only used for rehearsals & it even struggled at those (and blew a power section without too much provocation!) Trace V-Type pre-amp with a Trace 2x150 power amp and a Trace 4x12 cab - none more rock but a bit limited in sound (the V-Type was a trade for the Laney 2x10 so that was a most excellent deal). Didn't get on with the 4x12 so tried a standard Trace 1x15 with a matching 2x10, much nicer and more usable rig with the V-Type, which I still have but never use it. Trace GP12SMX 1x15 combo which I generally used with the 2x10 extension cab - at last, the "true" Trace sound! Succumbed to GAS and sold the lot for an SWR SM500 & a Triad cab, definitely one of my faves. Then did my back in and went for a much smaller Euphonic i-Amp 350 combo with a CXL 1x12 extension cab Best looking rig was probably the SWR with the Triad - always looked so classy compared to the green carpet of my Trace gear Best live sound is definitely the Euphonic - almost every time I use it someone appears and asks me what it is and how it's both so loud and punchy from such a small setup. Played with a couple of dep drummers who took one look at the size of the combo and openly laughed - they both came over at the break of each gig and said what a great sounding set-up it was (both times partnered with Modulus basses) Worst sounding/most difficult rig I've had to work with was at a recent gig with an Ashdown Evo 500 head paired with Ashdown 1x15 & 4x8 cabs. Absolutely horrible boomy sound with little individual note definition. Really struggled to get a decent sound out of it!
