Thanks Robin, great reply. I think I'll get one and try it with my Sennheiser e609 live and a Rode NT1A for recording, see how I get on. I like the idea of using a kick drum mic, and I could do with one in my equipment, and likewise the 57/58s. Are you in Southampton? I'm just up the road in Winchester.
I've got one too, its been really useful when it's been used. Great design too. Im using a DPA mic now so it's not getting much use, but i keep it for the odd recording etc.

Selling my Acoustic Image Coda R amp
gcordez replied to gcordez's topic in EUBs & Double Basses For Sale
Sorry, this listing is lacking a bit of detail. This is a AI Coda R amp, only a few months old. Its 2 Channels, 400w, sounds surprising great with electric bass as well. Real compact, light and sounds just incredible with acoustic instruments. Comes with a mooradian gig bag worth £120 as well. http://stores.soundislandmusic.com/Detail....chpath=58762922 Ask Laurence at Overwater about how good these amps are. They retail around £1250+ £825 -
Selling my lovely AI amp, i usually play through a PA and will most likely be getting a Schertler amp at some stage. This is an incredible amp, and works very very well with those DPA 4099 mics as well, for those of you wondering about them. Cant recommend this amp enough, its also surprisingly good for electric bass, ive done some medium sized gigs with it and was amazed how it handled the old P bass. About three months old, so its in perfect working order. This one came straight from Rick Jones (Mr Acoustic Image) from when i was in North Carolina. Comes with the mooradian gigbag (£120+ worth) Amp retails around £1250 and includes the £120 gigbag. £900 plus shipping costs.
Actually, theres a couple of small cosmetic scratches on her (just looked over her again) so ill knock some money off- £825 -

Sorry, just realised that I uploaded the same tune twice like a jackass. The jam is on at the canteen next Monday, i won't be on that one (playing with Moscow Drug Club up the road at the Prom). I think it's Valere on bass though. Do come down and play if you like...

Heres another..

Hi all, just got some rough mixes from a session i did a few weeks back and figure i'd put a tune up and hope for some feedback. I think i like the bass sound, but you can never be sure when listening to your own instrument/playing. Be gentle...
It's a lovely looker. My only worry would be that disassembling it regularly would stress the crap out of the strings.
Steel strings like Spiros are absolutely fine, it takes a good tug on them and about 10-15mins for them to settle into tuning. I used Evah Pirazzi's and they were fine also. Gut and synthetic strings would be a disaster though. The thing is, this bass is good enough as a primary instrument so you could have any strings you wanted on it, as long as you didnt intend to pack it down all the time. In my opinion and experience, the Spiros were the best sounding strings on this instrument out of the options i tried (oliv, evah, velvet)
Were you the organiser of the Full Moon sessions? I seem to recall that the 'usual' bassist there was also the main bloke behind the night. Mondays are pretty much my only 'night off' during the week what with gigs/rehearsals/teaching commitments etc. Arse.
You could go to the jam at the Albert every weds as an alternative?
-
Heres some more photos of her. Comes with a new set of spiros and a Fishman Full Circle pickup if required. This bass is great for anyone who travels to gigs/tours etc. It folds down to half its size, can fit in any car now, can fold it down to make public transport a lot easier (tubes/bus/taxis etc), can go on planes and at no extra cost, its tough as nails and certainly good enough to be a primary instrument.
The nights at the Old Duke, Rose of Denmark, Mr Wolfs, Leftbank and The Full moon are all good, anything goes nights. Some of the others tend to be focussed more towards certain types of music like blues or folk. Also, have a look on Facebook for Mark Venus Music in Bristol. Mark hosts a lot of open mic/acoustic sessions around the city.
Sorry for the delay in replying, not teasing- honest. The ones i mentioned are mostly Jazz sessions and are on Mondays at the Canteen and the Harbourside (new venue) on alternating Mondays evenings. There is the Albert in Bedminster every weds also. Im usually the house bassist, i used to do the Full Moon session as the bassist before we moved on. There is a Facebook page called 'jam sessions bristol' which spreads the word (im trying to be more organised...). Join that and it should keep you informed. Please do come up and say hello, be nice to meet some basschatters in the flesh. Greg
