1. Hi, I have posted this on the Bass "for sale" page but it is relevant here as I am after a speaker cab. I am looking for a speaker cab which needs to be 400 watts + (8 or 4 ohm). I am pretty much interested in any combination of speakers and I will consider anything. As I have no money after buying too much I am looking to trade a Bass for one. I have a lovely condition with a hard-case Epiphone Non-Reverese Thunderbird. As you know, these are pretty rare and only come up for sale now and again. This one is in excellent condition and plays/sounds lovely with a really low action. Anyone interested in a swap for a speaker cab? I'm valuing this Bass at about £300 and I live in Kent. I have transport and I am willing to meet up within a reasonable distance. This is on Ebay for £320 including P & P, Basschatters can have it for £300 including P & P or £290 collection (or meet in reasonable distance from Kent). Thanks for looking, Jim.

Dave made me up some more cables, as usual they were top quality and great value. Thanks!
4. Bought a Voodoo Bass pedal from Col, excellent transaction & a great guy to deal with. Cheers!
5. That is really, really nice. Congrats mate!
6. Hi there, Is this collection only or are you willing to post/courier it? I live in Kent so it's quite a trek to Scotland! LOL! Thanks, Jim.
7. Hi mate, I see you have two inputs plugged in on the Mesa 400+, how does that work? Do you change channel volumes during gigs or keep both channels up or something?
8. Lovely rig there mate!!
9. Here are all my Basses at the moment, I'd still like to get another Gibson and another Dean when I get the cash. Gibson Thunderbird IV & Gibson RD Artist Epiphone Non-Reverse Thunderbird Dean Trans-Red ML Ltd Edition Dean Z Tour
10. Very, very, very nice!!
11. Thanks for the replies guys, all that is really helpful. I am quite keen on building one myself so I will probably go down that route. I really like the volume pot idea, simple but effective!
12. Hello, I always use two Basses when gigging and there is always a noticable volume drop due to one being active and the other passive. I know you can buy a pedal to allow to different inputs but I was wondering if anyone had built one? I was hoping to make a rack-mount version with two switchable inputs with seperate volume controls and one output. I would also like to put a couple of LED's in it to show me which input is selected. Any help, ideas or telling me that it is not something a wally like me can do would be helpful! Thanks, Jim.
13.
I think they're about 10 years out of date with the Godzilla marketing.
It's not really the marketing for the Bass version, we are just saying that it the type of scaly colour it's going to be. But I know what you mean.
14. Hello Guys & Gals! Over in Dean Guitars, they make a limited edition run of Basses and Guitars each year (25 are made) under the name of DOA (Dean Owners of America). This year it looks like it's going to be a V-Zilla Bass. You sign up and put a small deposit down (about $50) and then the final payment is when they are built (about December 2008). All in all they cost about $650 as a rough guide but you get this shipped to the UK and then you own a limited edition Bass, 1 of 25! Here is this years spec: TRML Bridge (Bridge which was used on the TRML Bass, see my Bass Porn post for more detail) Block Inlays Standard V Headstock (Dean logo same finish as inlays?) Cream Binding On Neck Standard V Body V-neck profile 22 Frets Passive EQ (a la TRML) Metalman Pickups (a la TRML) Toxic Green Burst On Quilt Ebony board Black Hardware The link is below if you are interested, we need to get 25 to sign up to make the limited run happen... 15. No I didn't get round to sticking it on Ebay, still for sale!
16. Bought a Tonefactor Nebula from Mike. Top man, good communications and quick postage!
17.
great to see another Dean lover! i love both of my metalman models - i have the ML and Demonator. Jim is right about the pickups - these are really hot, tight and soooo punchy!! The main problem is finding cases foer them!!
Yes, I have the Dean gig bags at the moment. I am going to get some cases built by Flightcase Warehouse when I get the money. Also, it's a bugger finding a stand which is big enough to take them. I have the Hercules stands but both Basses are too long for them! My Thunderbird used to hang nicely from the Hercules so that shows you how long these Deans are! I am really tempted by the Demonator, I don't know wether to get the MetalMan single pickup model or save a bit more and get the Demonator 4. Also, like I said above, I am going to try and get a custom Demonator run built by Dean.
18.
I like the red one, the black one is cool too, but not in the same league. Is the ML well balanced ?
Yes, the ML is much better balanced than the Z, hardly a touch of neck dive. The strap button is behind the neck a-la Gibson which does help. I moved the Z a while back to the same position to help this too. The main thing with the ML is the weight..it is very light but still projects an amazing tone! As I said, the pickups are the Dean MetalMan pickups you find on their MetalMan series. According to some of the guys in the States, the bog-standard MetalMan series Basses are really good. The passive ones apparently sound better than the active which is a pretty good thing seeing as you can buy a passive MetalMan ML Bass over here for about £190. I'm going to try and get Dean to make a Ltd Editon Demonator or V Bass in the near future too.

Dean

Hi guys, I have had a Dean Z Tour Bass since last year and love it so much that it has become my main gigging Bass. I have recently bought another from Dean which is a Limited Edition Trans-Red ML Bass. 24 were made to a custom spec and I managed to buy one ! It arrived yesterday from the USA and I haven't put it down since. Unlike the Z Tour, it is a passive Bass fitted with Dean MetalMan pickups. The sound is really cool, as good as I hoped it would be. The MetalMan pickups are really hot and are great for what I primarly play. I hope you enjoy the pictures: Dean Trans-Red ML Bass Dean Z Tour Bass Thanks, Jim.
20.
Depends. Only active pickups require a battery. Most EMG LTD, Dean, Ibanez, Schecter basses have EMG-Hz pickups which are passive humbuckers. A good way of telling is to pop off the control cavity and look at the pickups. If there are three wires and one of the wires - red probably - is clearly going to the battery clip then you have active pickups that will require a battery. Be prepared that some circuits will seriously boost the signal, so you might find the passive sound practically unusable. Best to make a note in your calendar to switch batteries at regular intervals - every 3 months won't break the bank.
Thanks, I think that is good advice. I have pretty much resigned myself to kicking myself up the @rse to change batteries!
21.
I think a clear guard would look swish :-)
+1, clear guard to show off the body!
22. Thanks for the reply. I thought that might be the case to be honest....oh poo!
