Maplins sell one for about a fiver - no LED though
I'll check that out too. Thanks!

That is brilliant! Thank you very much!

Excellent! Thank you for your reply, I will give that a go! Cheers, Jim.

Hi, Has anyone made one of these? I want an on/off switch to use on my rack tuner. I am sure it wouldn't be that hard to make one and Maplin is so close to my work!! Would anyone be willing to share their knowledge of how to make one and what I would need? Thanks in advance, Jim.

I have a Gibson RD Artist. There is a toggle switch which can either put turn on the compressor or the expander. The compressor turns it into a rock monster but, I have to be honest, I can't tell what the expander really does to the sound (except makes it a sort of clicky/treble sound) so I don't use it.....

GATOR 3U Shallow rack case

Hi, I need a 4u rack case as I am using more rack equipment than anticipated, therefore my Gator 3U shallow rack case is up for sale. Good condition, a few scuffs but nothing major. I used to own an SKB case and I would say the Gator cases are far superior, I am going to get the Gator 4U version to replace this one. £40 posted anywhere in the U.K. Thanks, Jim. That is a LOT of MESA power!! The MESA sleeve looks cool anyway!! Did you get a footswitch with it? If so, what does it control? After your first gig with it, can you let us know how it played? Thanks, Jim.

They have a valve preamp and a solid state power section. They sound (to me) absolutley awesome. I've said it once but I'll say it again.....I'm really jealous!!!

Thanks for the advice guys!

Nice amp! I want to get the Big Block 750 when I have the money. I believe that the V12 is a twin channel version of the 750, is that correct? The tone is amazing and I am highly jealous that you have that!!! Is there any chance you can post some sound clips of that monster!?
That's right Jim - just so you don't overload the poweramp. I got my FBV shortboard today!
Cool, thanks Ped! That FBV looks like a good piece of kit mate.

I always get Dave to make my cables, they are the best quality I have ever seen/owned.
Bass into POD. Output from POD into RETURN jack of the Send/Return loop on the amp. Make sure you use the correct output from the POD (i.e. the one with the modelled sounds, not the DI one which doesn't have any modelling applied). The Return jack is effectively an input into the power section of the amp - it usually bypasses the preamp section (and therefore all of the tone controls of the amp). Whenever you're connection something up like this (that you haven't done before) keep the volume controls set to a low level initially then bring them up slowly while listening for any distortion. Find an "optimum" level and that's it.
Sorry, just to clarify something....where you say "keep the volume controls set to a low level initially then bring them up slowly while listening for any distortion"....do you mean the level on the output of the POD or the master volume of the amp? I imagine you are saying it's the level on the output of the POD? Thanks, Jim.
You could either

patch it into the effects return - in which case you will just be hitting the power amp and missing the EQ, or
into the front, in which case you will need to watch the input gain and probably use very light EQ on the graphics just to tweak for different rooms, other wise you will be EQing the EQ already set on the BOD

Sorry, bit of a thick question here......when you say "patch it into the effects return" where do you plug the input from you Bass? Does it go into the POD or the Input on your Amp? Is one method better than the other? Thanks, Jim.
Well heres my latest fill! DHA VT-5 Studio bass Ashdown Mag 300 Hartke 2200pro. The ashdown was supposed to be a "just for the time being" amp cos i got it for such a great price, but in truth, it sounds wonderful! I think everything balances nicely now, the warmth and "woolyness" of the valves and the ashdown are balanced out nicely by the zing of the aluminium cones and the horn.
Nice one Stephen! I think it sounds and looks great. I'll post a pic of the Eden after my gig on Saturday night.
The effect loop on the mark bass amps is wired in parallel so no it wouldn't kill the sound.
Ah.......thanks! Thinking about it a bit more....you could go from your Bass into the Input of the Korg, then from the Korg Output into the Little Mark Input. This way the mute button on the Korg will work and hey presto, silent tuning!
-
This may be a stupid question but would this work....? The Korg DTR-1000 rack tuner has a mute button on the front panel. If this was in the effects loop of the Little Mark: i) would you be able to use the tuner? ii) would pressing the mute button mute the sound to your amp for silent tuning? Thanks, Jim.
GAS... i got GAS for a schecter model t & especially those epiphone rippers. i was going to get a mark hoppus jazz, but after playing that ripper...
I had a go on a Ripper too. I didn't think I was going to like it but I thought it was really great. The neck was cool and it sounded really good. The only thing that I didn't like too much was the weight of it. Really good Bass for the money though!
