1. PayPal's fine, been a seller for years, just follow the rules which, apart from anything else, boil down to:- 1) Always keep communication between you within the Ebay messaging system, never take it outside of that - then investigations by Ebay can rely on that rather than a 'he said, she said' situation and emails don't give them that sort of proof. Even with this, an investigation into a poor buyer can be a nightmare so don't let yourself down by thinking emails / texts between you will suffice. 2) Always keep payment within PayPal's guidelines - trying to avoid fees is going to hurt at some point, much harder than the fees themselves. Their seller protection policy has to be adhered to and it's not difficult (a bit of wallet-stinger, yes, but difficult, no). 100% with the other comment re: tracked postage - don't be afraid to charge more for postage as a lot of people ship without insurance. Use a service like Parcel2Go (there are others) where you can compare couriers prices. If the shizzle is fan-bound then you'll be thankful you chose a courier worth their salt (dpd, UPS, Royal Mail etc.). 3) As mentioned above - avoid the zero-feedback / brand new account types and put a disclaimer on your advert to say something along the lines of 'zero feedback or new accounts, contact me first or your bid will be retracted'. Everyone has to start somewhere, but the % of hassle from these buyers is way higher. Describe goods as well as you can and take good photos - not so much for scammers, but to avoid the idiots who lean on the PayPal buyer protection a bit hard at times. If you've done a good advert with nothing to hide, you're less likely to face a return and the hassle that goes with it. That's served me well for the past 15 years on ebay.
2. Why thank you for clearing that one up - without checking I'm pretty sure that was the bassline from an old Dimitri from Paris set I've got kicking around on the drive somewhere.
3. Yay from me, in t'diary.
4. I've had the Cort back long enough now to report back on this. Apparently they all do that, well, this latest batch does. It's much more noticeable when I'm going via the pedals rather than direct, so that's a subject in itself. The worst pedal of all is the BeatBuddy and it's a shame because that pedal does sound beefy when it's inline rather than on the amp's aux input or on send / return. Promenade Music sent it back to the disty, Proel who tested it alongside others and it does the same. Fair do's, I just have to back it off if I'm going via a few pedals. Maybe the BeatBuddy hots the signal up (or saps it?) - it certainly is a big enough difference. Fair's fair, Gary from Promenade was very helpful and even offered to ship it back with fresh strings & a setup for my hassle.
5.
Never heard of Lettuce.
Neither had I til a year or so ago, I might stick that live set on now myself. Also, try Dumpstaphunk - they lean more towards funk but yes, this is my kinda thing to listen to - hello fellow funksters and thank you for the recommendations in this thread, fantastic.
6. Just dropping in to say I'd be interested - bit of a drive but could couple it with a trip with MrsT.

8.
In my case the problem was caused by the way the new OS handled USB powered devices
I'm now also thinking this is heading in a USB direction. I remember trying some expensive USB cables (still have them) but they didn't shield whatever it was.
9. Firstly, I know you're asking about what else you can do - so I'm kinda missing the point with my post but trust me, I've got a handle on webternet things. Agree with the above posts - you can post what you want but keep it sweet and you'll get the thanks for not waffling. Also, nobody wants to hear 'and if you click below you can subscribe to my channel blah blah blah' because no, we all know this and telling us on every video doesn't help us find what we're after. Intro text floating around - no. What will happen is that over time, your video will be watched for more time than the wafflers and you'll rank higher as a result. Less is indeed more. Btw, just doing 'simple effects demos' as you say can be rather good - just do it better than the rest
10.
I did reinstall Windows that is the only change that I can think of?!
It started after you reinstalled Windows? And you say there's a difference between 1) the data noise unplugged and 2) the hum plugged in? The fact that you've got noise unplugged (ie: no part of what you're using is on AC) means there's something afoot with either the laptop or the soundcard. Screens can cause interference (and the inverter that powers them) as can graphics drivers, especially when you notice them making different levels of noise when they're being pushed (try a white background versus a black background for instance). I know, sounds bonkers but the current draw goes up a lot on white and it can make sounds worse. If you've just reinstalled, have you definitely got the correct / up to date drivers for the graphics / soundcard? And if they're right, were you using the same ones previously? Have you reinstalled the same operating system or a later version? I used a ground loop isolator on my laptop when it was plugged into the mains, killed just about all the noise but on batteries they should be silent. Pig of a thing to diagnose! [Edit 1] Thinking screen again, try getting the laptop to power the screen down after a short period of time - don't touch the laptop so the screen stays off and see if the sound is still there while the screen's off. It's in the power options, just click on the Start button (bottom left) and type "Power" (without speech marks) - should bring up the power options which you then can edit. Don't forget to set them back after testing. [Edit 2] Every time I submit I think of something else! I recently tried recording into Sony Sound Forge on this PC and it makes a high pitched racket when I do so. Try the same in Ableton without changing any hardware and it's perfect. I put this down to me never configuring Sound Forge - I must have something set wrong somewhere. Right, that's it, I'm stopping diagnosing and I'll go to bed. Then I'll think of something else and my forthcoming sleepless night will be all your fault
11.
Now what did I come in here for?
12. You got me searching there cos I was a fan of Nightmares on Wax (Warp records, all that) - just found it was Nightmares in Wax. I had no idea Pete had done this, you learn something new everyday. RIP.
13.
you can put a five grand bass through a dodgy cab and it will sound like you just picked it out of a skip.
+1 for cab. Having just gone through this (but not a £5k bass!), I was annoyed at never being happy playing what I had. As a new player I wondered was it the player, the bass, the amp or the cab. Keeping the same bass and amp I eventually swapped the cab to the Vanderkley and hey presto, changed everything.
14.
I have always assumed playing by ear to mean...learning a song by working out the bass lines yourself without tabs.
That's my assumption too, FWIW. If a musician can react to what's going on around him / her then to me that's more 'on the fly' or 'on the hoof' playing rather than 'by ear' but we're into semantics and pfft, I'm just impressed with folks who can do both. I avoid tabs unless I'm absolutely stuck (maybe because haven't tackled anything nasty yet!) plus I don't learn very well unless I've figured at least most of it myself.
15.
That bass line is on Titles iirc
I never listened to any of Mick's solo stuff, so I'll go grab that album after a quick listen on t'tube. Knew he'd played on Numan's Dance album with Pino Palladino doing some other of Numan's fretless work around that time. Anyway, much appreciated pointing me at that album, cheers.
16. I'd love to come out with something obscure and complex but for me it boils down to Bernard Edwards' line from Good Times.
17.
The blog! At last... http://wp.me/p2ZbyY-v8 As always, please let me know about errors and omissions and I'll edit accordingly.
I think I made it into the background of one of the shots and the Cort I bought is in one of the others - must go full stealth next year Cheers for the memories though, my first show, won't be my last.
18. It's Bootsy - can't be a monstrosity
19. Some of us have yet to venture out and play in front of an audience, so to me, no matter my skill or yours, you're out in front and where I want to be. And I will. /bucketlist
20. (last few have been corkers... thank you!) Gotta love a bit of Herbie ...
21. Last two - MFSB and GQ - very good, new to me, writing those down!
22. Can't echo the sentiments in here enough - nothing like him. OK, Angie Bowie aside (actually, I really don't mind what she does here) - I'm mesmerised by this bassline and his playing... ridiculously good...ok, the Alice band might be a step too far but how cool is this?
23. Kool & the Gang - this came as a shock to me but pre sort of '78 ish they used to be (k)cool!
24. Be prepared for:- a} Schoolboy dj errors b} "Alright" being the first word spoken after most tracks c} Asking co-host Chris Donnelly "how ya doin' there Chris?" about 10 times a show with Chris finding it increasingly difficult to answer in different ways d} Funk. Fully-loaded funk - hence a, b and c go out the window There, you have been warned but I'm addicted, usually end up scouring youtube et al for tracks and artists the following week.
25. Looking (listening to) at your soundcloud stuff - sounds right up your alley! V nice btw!
