  1. Welcome Ray. Is it not intended to be tuned B E A D G C?
  2. Come again? PS: As you were. I've just had a look at the search results for wizard thumper. Once you get past the entries dealing with wizard abuse self-help groups all becomes clear.
  3. I was thinking of putting in set of P&J Nordies in. I might one day but it sounds grand with the Duncan Designed P&J as it is.
  4. I've got to say. Since I have been playing Jack's VM Jag from his win at the bash last Saturday, my playing has changed for the better. It's a proper little funk machine.
  5. That's the spirit! If you can't live with your mistakes you'd never get to the end of a project. If you're any good with the file after you've cut a relief from the corner plate, it'll look intentional.
  6. It doesn't sound bad passive either but that the beauty of it as a starter for modification; either way you get a result.
  7. Simple to cure... Just use a soft headed mallet next time instead of a hammer.
  8. It's a great bass to start with I have recently discovered. I am watching this with keen interest. Your ideas are interesting and you should end up with a good little player.
  9. You're gifted mate. I hope demand does not turn a pleasurable pastime into a chore for you if you do take orders.
  10. Wow. The implication is that Jabba's basses are turning folk to knife crime just to get to the head of the queue to own one. Nice.
  11. I wouldn't use this project as a first lesson in soldering if I were you. If you really want to though, get your mate to give you a crash course in the basics and some homework to practice on that sets you up for the job at hand. It's easy when you do all the right things. I enjoy it.
  12. Is there any chance of you posting a couple of frame grabs please? It's lovely. PS: Just saw the image of the top after I posted. As you were. It's fanflippingtastic!
  13. You'd like it at The Holly Bush near Ripley. At one of their OM nights last year the house bass combo was on the right. I struggled a bit. I'm assuming they have it there still of course.
  14. It makes a difference to the contact area between the cab and the stage. That in turn affects the coupling of the cab. More surface area equals more coupling. It often makes a difference to the sound but it depends somewhat on what the stage flooring is made of. PS: Turning them on their side may not allow them to work as intended if they're supplied with rubber feet. If you have locking castors, try leaving them on for your next performance. The worst that can happen is that you have to fiddle with your eq a bit more.
  15. It's a noise cancellation technique from the good old days of analogue. The mics are out of phase so the background is cancelled out while the vocals (in the upper mic) survive the summing of the two signals. If I recall correctly from my sound and lighting coursework back in the day that is.
  16. If you are repeatedly able to make necks to such tight tolerances as you've already demonstrated, surely you need only make a neck to test the notion?
  17. In your defence, you're no worse than the OP for merely mentioning something that can also be adapted for use as a music stand... Oh wait...
  18. Ah the wonders of the search engine... not that I'm complaining all that much, you understand. I used to long for some of those Italian multis. I was always put off by their rep for poor electrics in our climate. Speaking of your own Sei, it's a great save on Andy's part. I bet your pleased.
  19. Impressive. I'll look forward to seeing those. I'd still be using the backs of beer mats and fag packets had I not given up smoking and drinking frequently. I still like to rough things out in hand sketches. I might scan them for tweakage after but I'd be lost without physical drawing materials to start with.
  20. As I said on Saturday; You've definitely got a sharp eye for this craft. May I ask? When you set out your first sketches do you have a clear image in your mind of what you're aiming for?
  21. Get well soon Mrs T! Best wishes to you both Tauzero.
