Fearless Flyers and their rigid stand-mounted guitars

Shhhh! Don't let @Andyjr1515 hear you suggesting that. -

It is a lovely looking thing with bags of character. If the sound lives up to expectations you've made something to be proud of. Fancy doing a YOB Burns bass for me? Only bigger than the one in this clip please. Heeheehee. -
Welcome Billy. Have you tried the Basschat Marketplace?

@jebroad Splendid. Next time we meet, I want to have a go on that massive and classic looking head that was parked near to @Frank Blank and his rig. Although I got a go on Frank's Mouse (very nice it was too Frank); you were busy, I was on-call, there was so much to see, folk to catch up with and so-on that I didn't get the chance. It looked like summat from the seventies. Am I close?

All credit due to Jim, remember. I doubt the profanity filter would have much use for the royalties.

Me too. I suspect that it is a gimmick but it also has the added advantage of making it slightly easier for musicians to swap instruments. I think most of them are multi-instrumentalists. -
...and there I was thinking it was your quick wit that used Mrs Cradock's christian name (are we still allowed to call it that?) as a substitute for a vulgar term. Ballhooks!

Due to the technical issues involved, we'd need volunteers to research the questions you raise. "Cradock Fart" - Bwahahahahahaha!

I do indeed. -
If his screen name is owt to go by I'd say he's managed to electrostatically charge his bathroom walls and powder coat the wet white paint. If I was doing it, it would involve a modestly sized explosive device and a bucket of glitter, Mr Bean stylee.

I like it. The lengths you are going to are worthy of admiration. -
Oh? Have you never heard a queef?
-
Glamorous. Sorry you had chores instead.

Or one of my decreasingly rare thread diversions... This morning I have mostly been searching for images for "Sei". Here are three of them: None of these is a bass. Out of these three however I like the 'bike best.

Who makes a good mic stand these days?

At the best of times, injection moulded plastic is not a substitute for metal alloy if you want it to last. That you had a failure right out of the box shows that, in this case, some accountant somewhere has shaved a bit too much off of the cost of raw materials and ended up ruining a good product before it even gets to the end user. Why use sub-standard parts? Because it's a bl**dy rip-off, that's why. Furthermore - Any manufacturer who puts chrome plated plastic parts into an assembly looses all chances of further business from me. Those nasty control knobs, like on my Laney RB3, are an example. Once bitten forever shy. /rant. -
You get that way from listening to the overly saturated soundtracks of too many Bollywood VHS tapes. Guitarists aren't the only ones with the fuzzy habit you know.

When I saw the mattress on the floor I decided that perhaps this would not be as entertaining as I'd hoped. Pass.

Wow. It's a good thing your mate didn't give you a go on a Kazoo! You'd end up with a bass/SheweeTM hybrid.

It's very kind of you to say. Thank you from both of us. It's the first really good day out that either of us have had since August of last year. Winning Andy's modified Jag was completely unexpected and made Jack's whole week for him. I probably saw you in passing but I haven't a clue what you look like. I'll look forward to meeting you at the next one. Cheers!

I was sorry to have missed meeting you. I thought I'd recognise your neck but... no. If I'd had more time to myself I would have liked to have sought you out for a chat about your JabbaBass. The clip you posted a while back was tantalisingly short but sweet enough to make me want to hear more. Next bash maybe?

True enough. I own up to having a senior moment and getting my Simons in a twist. Credit was intended for @Si600 for his management of previous East Midlands Bass Bashes. Sorry to you both. No confusion intended.

As the first to have a ticket drawn, I was surprised you didn't go for the AJR Jag yourself. I'm not complaining you understand. I was in a bit of a bind having gone up with Jack's ticket and then realising that I was making a choice on his behalf. In my defence... there wasn't a lot of ukulele related stuff on the table to choose from.

As a matter of fact, JE, it was my housemate Jack's ticket that won the prize. Two of his tickets were drawn and none of mine! He was delighted to have won it. We've known Andy for a couple of years now and we've both been impressed by his builds and mods. Jack's more of a uke player though and he's gifted it to me. As we share a house, he's still going to hear it... quite a lot probably. I'm very lucky. I've just had a good hour playing with it and it's lovely. To be honest, I've always liked the notion of one day owning an AJR modified or built bass. It was a great climax to the day. Full marks to you JE and your Mum. You both made us feel very welcome. You made this year's East Midlands Bass Bash a great follow up to @Sibob's excellent events. Cheers matey! Well done. This isn't the first time that Andy's put up such a nice prize either. He put up a decent acoustic bass a couple of years back too. It's been a great day out for the two of us after a rough six months or so. Looking forward to the next one.

As long as you don't discover a flat earth you'll be fine.
