Finished Pics! Andyjr1515 meets his Nemesis?
SpondonBassed replied to Andyjr1515's topic in Build Diaries
Bless you. Have a fisherman's friend. -
Gosh, that thins out dramatically. Not only could you kill a dinosaur with it... you could also dig a big hole to bury it in with that spade of a headstock! Have you some more photos of that please?

Looks like it's been dusted with cocoa powder. Sweet.

Finished Pics! Andyjr1515 meets his Nemesis?

The vision is becoming reality. I couldn't appreciate fully what you had in mind between you until this last lot of images. Ee it's grand. What is it about the colour purple and musicians? I mean... dark pink is just not the same. PS: I wonder if you'd both consider a follow up in five years time, all being well? I'd love to see images detailing how the ageing process affects this bass. -
I'm glad to hear that you aren't using whatever screws come to hand. It's so easy to get let down by poorly made screws. Sometimes it can ruin an otherwise "perfect" build to have to drill out sheared screws or replace chewed up screwheads.

I like it because it is tactile and that helps my fretting hand find first position accurately.

Does anyone actually use their B string?
SpondonBassed replied to LITTLEWING's topic in General Discussion
Yeah. Derby is a bit far to travel just for a go on a cheap Steiny. If however you fancy the Midlands Bass Bash in May I hope to attend with my B2A anyway and now I'm going to take the Steiny along as well. If you or anyone else in attendance wants to compare them I am happy to let you have a good old noodle. Of the two, only the Spirit has a low B. I suspect that the B2A was a higher spec relative to the Spirit within their respective catalogues. I certainly think the Hohner is the better instrument all 'round. It will be interesting to hear what folk think in general. If you've not been to a Bass Bash before, I can recommend it as a friendly place to put faces to some of the screen names here and to see basses and amps that aren't usually available in the showrooms. (There's usually cake available and all). -
That's a very nice bass. When you see what it came from, it's all the more remarkable. Good work.

Who makes a good mic stand these days?

(peeps out from within bunker but says nothing before slowly battening down the shutters for the duration.) -

Don't they? How crude. -
Oo. Option 2 looks a lot like the start of Dr Who! Can I have one of those and a sofa to hide behind as well please?
-
I shouldn't joke really. I think I'd like the facility of a tablet with me at gigs too. With a footswitch there would be none of that tedious wetting of thumbs and turning of pages every so often.
-
That's a great twofer. You get shiny and grainy both in the same package. Nice.

You could always modify a music stand... (Retires to the bunker before the fallout settles)

I'd christen that bass The Purple Tart if I didn't think that the name would rub off onto its new owner as well... Nah. The Purple Nemesis will do just fine. -

The neck must be attached to the body for the nut to be properly cut and preferable it should be with the same strings that you intend to gig. As far as I know that is. -
First Gig, One Important Thig To Remember
SpondonBassed replied to stewblack's topic in General Discussion
You must know by now Stew... You can't grow slopey shoulders. You're either born with them or you ain't. You'll be mucking in with the set-up and tear down before you realise it, guaranteed. PS: I hope you enjoy it whatever else you do. -
You may regret putting that in writing... it's only March.
