  1. So "booty" as in pirate's reward. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I've never fully understood the word the way Americans use it. As has been noted above, you've got a unique writing style. It would be fun to meet and chat for real. I've not said before but great playing! It is a shame more people don't get to hear it in real life but I understand you have issues that prevent it happening. Nice touch that. Putting the BC logo on one of your clips. Laters.
  2. What are your feelings regarding asymmetric neck profiles?
  3. Great idea. I'm still laughing at "booty". You do mean bottom end don't you?
  4. Fair enough but you did make it sound like a challenge. It really isn't. Our friend Honza has drawn a line between ownership of wood working tools and metalwork tools, that's all. Your suggestion is not a bad one. It's just that the words "all that" in your phrase "all that metalwork" might be misleading to readers.
  5. I agree. Much better to leave it. If you remove one of the blocks there is little chance of the supplier sending you a good match for the ones that are left anyway. You might as well remove all of them and replace with a properly matched set. Ibanez put oval abalone dots on my fretboard and one of them is similarly at odds with the rest. They are a lot smaller than yours but I still had to get used to it. I now think of it as a unique characteristic and - isn't that why we use organic materials anyway? To have something that is taken from nature because it can't be uniform and manufactured? Like your infill, it is likely that you are the only one who will be aware of the difference once the instrument is strung. The instrument as a whole isn't going to suffer, IMHO.
  6. Goody! Another Build Diaries topic on the horizon.
  7. That's what we like. Basses built around a spare pick guard that was lying around.
  8. Real life is not very considerate of us is it? It doesn't come with a suspend function. Someone fudged up when they were rushing the Homo Sapiens' beta test through for release.
  9. I remember Nathan Watts saying that he detuned his bass to E flat mainly because he had been a trumpet player previously. He also says that he likes the slack feel of the strings due to the half note difference. Sometimes you can hear it. It's a part of his sound. A full note would be appreciable different. Whether this matters outside of a recording studio seems to be at the core of this discussion.
  10. That sounds buttock tremblingly ominous. Could you explain that one for me please? I am notoriously thick on Monday mornings.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of Cowell's side investments. Awful.
  12. There is no button to reflect all of my reactions to all of that. Suffice it to say that you have my best wishes for good drying weather to assist. It's a big show coming up so I can understand what's driving you. All the very best.
  13. It's always good to see a blend of older tech with the newer stuff. It looks the business too.
  14. The epitome of cultural fulfilment. Thank you. I feel complete.
  15. Can you do a left hand conversion for Sylvia?
  16. Much as I expected, thank you. Will you continue to buy in the necks then?
  17. (stifles a titter) I do thank you. I was a little curious because of the drop tuner fitment on some B2As. Being a headless neck through instrument, my plain bridge/direct pull tuner assembly is extremely stable and holds tune very well. If the presence of a drop tuner makes a difference that merely makes it like more like traditional configurations it would be tolerable. I bought a Steiny Spirit 5 to avoid modifying my Hohner or retuning for the occasional song. It's not as nicely made an instrument and has none of the soul of the older Hohner. Somehow, it feels less responsive in my hands, a little lifeless. I might look into a drop tune bridge assembly as a mod for the B2A after all.
  18. I'll pass thank you Marco. Much as I'd love to have a go on such an interesting instrument, I am only a hobby bassist and I'm doing it for therapeutic reasons. I have neither the experience nor the knowledge to help with your development. Also, my income is very low, I don't claim benefits and I'd find it hard to pay for shipment. You should find no shortage of willing Basschat members when word gets around.
  19. I've never used one. After you've set one up and used it a couple of times during a set is there any drift from open E and whatever note you've set for the drop?
  20. Thank you. You know where to find me when the royalties start to accumulate. Heeheehee
