  1. I appreciate that you have taken the time to consider my position. I am sorry that you have taken offence at my reply. The problem is circular in nature. If I had space, I might consider getting a drum kit in. The intention would be to learn my way around a standard drum kit. If nothing else it would be possible for drummers to join in a spontaneous jam at my house. I haven't got the space so a syn drum kit would seem to be an answer. I agree that to learn in a way that would make the transition to a real kit less troublesome it would need to be set up, as you yourself suggested, to replicate the overall placement of a real kit thereby going right back to square one, which is to buy a full kit since the syn drum kit would need the same sort of space to set up. I am now considering avoiding all of the trappings of analogue drums altogether (drummers always seem grumpy anyway) and I have wondered whether to replace my TR606 with a rack mounted synthesiser controlled by one of these: Demo Vid When did I say that I did not want an answer? Have a nice week.
  2. So did I. I was a little disappointed when I realised it wasn't.
  3. Is this decorative too or does it come with rubber pellets for the 10cc section of your set?
  4. Given that my reason for not dabbling is lack of space, I'll pass thanks. If I could find space between the basses, amps, guitars, ukes and the tuning fork to lay out a syn kit like a full sized drum kit, why wouldn't I just buy a drum kit?
  5. I was more in mind of how I'd feel learning on the Roland then moving on to a real kit. Maybe I'm wrong but wouldn't it be like starting off again, not quite from scratch but not familiar with a full sized kit?
  6. I've often wanted to invest some quality time in drumming but for the space it takes up with traditional kit. The alternative is a syndrum kit but I'd feel I was cheating. PS: Can I have your bass and rig Mister?
  7. I doubt it would make a huge difference but I'd have wanted to see it off-set to the other side for the new low B. Are you keeping the four string P pup? I'm glad you kept the headstock natural. It's eye catching enough as is. Heeheehee
  8. Also known as a Norrisole.
  9. Oh the integrity! I bet nothing gets swept under the carpet at your house.
  10. At long last. Someone who can finally explain who the flipping walrus was and where Paul was buried. Oh yeah, and Happy Sixty Fourth you old scrote!
  11. Reminds me of a gig we did at the Goth and Giggle one night... Moany Ben had worked up an arrangement of Disco Duck and was dressed as Count Duckula. I had misunderstood at rehearsal and I'd learnt Joe Dart's line's from Funky Duck. As we launched into the intro Antwaun Stanley got up and started to sing... Well. Moany Ben was all about the Rick Dees lyrics and Antwaun was all like oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oo The crowd loved it. Disco laced with Funky, Goth garnished with Disco cheese... we got a nomination for Mash-up of the Year, a bale of pancakes and a firkin of Hoisin sauce to round the night off. Good times. I just wish Will I Am would stop pestering me to sign up.
  12. I found out recently that it was written for Jeff Beck. Wondrous. "Jeff Beck was an admirer of Wonder's music, and Wonder was informed of this prior to the Talking Book album sessions. Though at this point he was virtually playing all of the instruments on his songs by himself, Wonder still preferred to let other guitarists play on his records, and he liked the idea of a collaboration with Beck, a star-in-the-making guitarist. An agreement was quickly made for Beck to become involved in the sessions that became the Talking Book album, in return for Wonder writing him a song." Full article
  13. Has anyone tried this Tuner/DI? It seems pricey but it would seem to be a good one for the minimalists.
  14. Thanks for the heads up. Congratulations Andy. How many candles are there on the meat pie?
  15. They're both in my set I practice those regularly by playing along to recordings by the original artist. I just need band mates to work with me on my "set" and turn out an acceptable arrangement for these and other songs on the list.
  16. Your perseverance is an example to us all.
  17. May contain advertising.
  18. Well done. Is it my eyesight or is the truss adjustment drilling behind the nut off axis?
  19. Airborne contamination perhaps from a kitchen extractor distributing greasy particles? Frustrating.
  20. Thumbs up for that comment.
  21. Ever since Stars on 45 did their beatmatching lash-up segue thing in the early eighties it's been getting worse. Now we have mash-ups. Not my thing at all. I was never fond of collage either.
  22. Depends on who's glutes you are comparing your volute too. If it was me, I'd have it shaped to resemble Beyonce tying the shoelaces on her Doc Martens. Wisecracks aside; that's looking like summat to get to grips with. Tactile and highlighted by your laminated neck. Class. I always though a carbuncle was the fat one that keeps buying you chips when he takes you and your dad to the seaside.
  23. Gosh yes. I've just noticed how the lines are not where frets would have to be.
  24. I just thought you had difficulty telling right from left and I kept it to myself to save embarrassing you. Oops.
