  1. In blokey terms I'd have thought that GAS is preferable to having a roving eye. Whatever gender you are any partner who complains that you have too many basses should be reminded of that. If you have that strong lust for living and you are deprived of one of your objects of desire, say a bass, another must be sought. It's usually better to allow one's partner to be unfaithful with a bass than with a lover. Then of course you hear of partners who get jealous of inanimate objects that they think come between them and their beloved. File those under Bunny Boiler.
  2. Dad's been recruiting no doubt. C'est bon.
  3. It isn't worth taking the chance my friend. I think you got away with a valuable lesson AND all of your fingers. Think about it this way; you might make a half decent bass in less time than if you'd worked out the safety aspects but would you still have enough fingers to play Rhythm Stick?
  4. Where did you learn Gaelic?
  5. I bet you counted all of your fingers after the latter just to be certain you'd come away with the same number that you started with.
  6. Slight amendment for clarity. Good tip. Caution: It's not as good as getting a proper plug repair done if it is a vintage instrument and you want to get max return when moving it on.
  7. Hahahahaha! I spotted it on their drive where they'd left it for the scrap wagon. Being a tight git I had no embarrassment about taking it for myself after I checked it was okay with them.
  8. I'll drink to that. Of course, achieving it consistently must be hard even for the pros.
  9. You were saying? You can't see what's under all that crap but it used to be the neighbour's wife's clothes rail. It'd be ideal if it only had cables on it.
  10. This? Do you know why it's shown in two tones? Either looks good in isolation.
  11. Great to see the Thunderclone is a go once more. #gettin routy widdit
  12. Whoops. I should have patronised that remark with a smilie/emoji/nifty acronym*. Sorry, I don't do those. *Delete according to preference
  13. This is suspiciously like the precursor to another Ringo thread...
  14. Don't ask Dr Duck for an axe, sac and crack wax though. It's liable to drive him quackers.
  15. Aw. I was going to call it The Hamstronome and all. Rats.
  16. I can't help it if you do not see the uniqueness of my selling point.
  17. Good man! It's how I'd want to do it myself only I had a hard time deciding if I could successfully taper something that thin. I'd considered tapering the floor of the neck pocket too as it would sort things a bit better than shimming. Alternatively I could pocket the bridge into the body by a few thou. I hope you enjoy the Bash. The grain matching between your fretboard and body has blown me away!
  18. Thanks for the prelim view Jez. Can you put some images up of your shimming work please? I am assuming that you will do it better than some of the shim jobs I've seen or been expected to accept.
  19. I'm getting you a My Little Pony for Christmas. It's got a range of accessories and 'friends' that'll keep you occupied for a loooooong time. I'm so glad little Ruby is past that phase. She wants to be a drummer though. That's a whole different kettle of GAS! (Scribbles a hasty prescription) Take two Alka Seltzer and lie down in a darkened room 'till the burping subsides.
  20. That oak has come out well. Nice to see you have provided some nest material for mice in the upper cavity. Will you supply a complimentary rodent or will your client have to furnish a breeding pair of their own? I want to set you on a build with a hamster wheel built in. On stage a suitably deaf hamster would inhabit the wheel and set the bpm for the band depending on how fast it turns its wheel. Can I get a witness for when I file my patent please?
