1. Hey! If something as ugly as the massive Fender knob-end can become a cultural icon then given enough media exposure, clever product placement can make anything look cool. I'll be in my flameproof bunker if anyone's looking for me.
 2.
...Bass? Oh yeah - 1962 three color sunburst Precision bass. Carried it round in the fender cardboard box because the guy I bought it from couldn't afford the case at the time!
The first bass that I actually owned was a fretless Squier Jazz. That came in one of those tapered cardboard boxes. My transport then was a fully faired CX500 with detachable Krauser panniers. With one pannier off I was able to strap the guitar in its cardboard box against the pannier frame so that it was upright and "secure". The bottom of the box sat on the left hand silencer but never got to scorchio type temperatures. I used to rip through the Dublin traffic on the way to practice. Looking back it was just plain daft but no harm came to it. Hated the thing though and PXd it before I'd had it six months.
 3. Every garage should have one. Lovely
 4.
Never a good idea....
I'd have put up with it if it got a better result than this combination of goldy looking dust and epoxy resin - In my defence. It's only for a ukulele. My mate knocks them up for a laff and I thought I'd see if I could do an inlay without the required skills. The inlay shown was done on a scrap piece that would've faced the headstock of another uke build. It looks better without frankly. The circular body is the current build. I wont be trying it again.
 5.
You probably won't want to see the Strat / 6-string bass doubleneck they did then... http://lindert.vinta...-up-doubleneck/
I especially like the photo of a flock of sheep at the top. Bah!
 6.
I'm still traumatised from the first time I saw a picture of a Lindert Loco-motive P Bass... http://lindert.vinta...-motive-p-bass/
I bet that's ideal for hitch hikers.
 7.
Utterly, utterly dreadful. I don't care how great the rest of the bass might be... this is a carbuncle.
I agree about the headstock but that brass inlay looks a bit special. I tried inlaying with resin bonded "gold" metallic dust once. Never again.
 8.
Spondon, it's a dark poor quality cell phone video. The only reason I wanted to post it was for you guys to hear the rather top notch tempo one of the new drummers were working with kept. And I wanted to make sure I haven't mislead anyone. We're not a professional band. We're a local bar band. Blue
Well. Even if you couldn't get it up (ooer missus), I do hope that you will find a suitable clip to put on a non-subscription site at some point. With regard to you being in a professional band however; In Britain, the word "profession" referred to the life careers of people such as doctors, solicitors or any job that required a substantial education and a long term in the job before qualification. Nowadays we get dog walkers who call themselves "professional". Is it like that in the 'States? I always thought, from your descriptions, that you were in a working band. It would be nice to see the band whatever you call it. Fond regards to you and the band
 9. Nick Lowe - I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass. It was easy to learn. It uses the higher frets as well. I had access to a bass for long enough to learn it at a time when I was clueless, well... more than I am now let's say. I decided I had to buy a bass of my own from that.
 10.
Where have all the Carlsboro amps gone? They never seemed to go wrong so they must still be around, they sounded OK and were not overly heavy, Westone Thunder 1/1a through a Carlsboro amp seems to be a bit of a classic starter package of the 80's
I have a Carlsboro 100W four channel PA. Bought it second hand out of the local paper with two wedges last year. It's great for the play-alongs during practice and eventually I hope to practice singing at the same time as playing... Don't say you haven't been warned.
 11.
So there are loads out there that do...this begs the question then "why don't all of them?". I think the answer may lie in the fact the clip on tuner I was using cost less than a £5.
Mine was closer to five quid than ten back then. I use neither the clip on part nor the tiny microphone supplied however. Would the clip perhaps be at fault? Maybe it doesn't make a good enough mechanical contact to accurately measure the lowest frequencies. As I mentioned, I feed the signal directly to mine. When it misbehaves sometimes it is either the battery getting weak or poor contact at the jack connectors. I carry switch cleaner in an aerosol can with my cables. If my tuner is picking up hum, a quick squirt sorts it out.
 12. Does Mr Shpock have the cheek to ask extra for the distressed look - the one on the buyer's face? Beam me up.
 13.
Amazon are selling 14077 sets for £32.00 at the moment...that's about a tenner or so off. You're welcome. Px
Much obliged http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Okpb0-VWntk
 14.
In China too, people throwing themselves under tanks left right and centre in moral outrage. In a couple of cases, they accidentally stole tanks after a hilarious misunderstanding and were later forced to throw themselves under by state officials to protect the nation from moral turpitude.
I can't think who you are referring to. [chortle chortle]
 15. @ Blue; I read under notifications that you had posted here just after six this morning. The post is not here now...? I am both disheartened and disillusioned. It's enough to make me consider taking up smoking again! I may "unfollow" this topic soon. Come on Blue, we're all rooting for you mate!
 16.
I didn't like to say anything for fear of causing 'offence' to the homicidal maniac community.
None taken http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSXvTIR2AAg Hehehehehehe
 17.
As it's a Gibson, is that not just to stop the jack plug being ripped out again as the headstock dives to the ground when it's being played...? Unclear as I'm 62, whether I need to put a ?
If you do, you'd best hold it in place with three self tapping screws... A Bodgit and Scarper job if ever I saw one.
 18.
Spot on Cato...... I was referring to myself as well as blue when I said old people. I'm not in Blues league but I'm no spring chicken. Also, I have zero tech skills.
Hahahahahahahaha. I wish I was 32 again young man. NURSE! get my bathchair!
 19.
Found it! https://www.youtube....h?v=GFGPSx6cPN0
EeeeeeeeK!
 20.
This whole thread is FAKE NEWS. Sad. A great danger to our country. Maybe the millions of people who voted to MAKE BASSCHAT GREAT AGAIN should have their own rally. It would be the biggest of them all!
Good old Channel 4.
 21.
That's just the media though. Those no win no fee solicitors are quite particular who they take on. Real solicitors usually outline exactly how much a case is likely to cost and the likelihood of winning during the first (paid) consultation. A solicitors letter is cheap, following up on your threats isn't. Try and sort out any problems amicably.
Yes. Although I thought at first that you had typed "A solicitors letter is cheap, following up on your threads isn't." until I cleaned my specs. I wouldn't want to leave you out of pocket. You know?
 22.
I had a nasty case of that but penicillin soon cured it.
Can't wait to see the vid Blue. I'm hanging around in my flame-proof union suit with the trap door firmly buttoned despite everything. eee bah GUM! (Edit; Note to self, don't make the mistake of quoting yourself too often, it's as confusing as trying to wee into the corner of a barrel.)
 23.
As a rule, I have always preferred litotes to hyperbole ...
I had a nasty case of that but penicillin soon cured it.
 24.
We need to expand this to what people wore for their first gig!...
It's too far back to remember. I have a photograph[s] somewhere that I'll dig out. For now I'll just say that[/s] I am almost certain I had clean underwear on at the start. Found it; It was a four piece. I am on the left. M, the drummer, did main vocals but he is concealed behind P, the guitarist. E was on keys and was the drummer's girlfriend. Wow. I had forgotten what we all looked like then.
 25.
And the elephant in the room is, are there really no other bands in Vienna? Presumably after two years on the local scene you must know a fair selection of local musicians - have you considered starting a slightly more sensible band?
Oh dear. I think we're going to have to get a massive pooper scooper now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wzJbR-PuCM Nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk
