1.
Anyone who calls Mezzoforte lift music is like Noel Gallagher. Makes great music, but an uneducated chimp who's doesn't understand anything outside of his chord progression's.
Hahahaha. Yeah man, he's a ukulele player anyway so what does he know right? I'll wind him up later with your comment re: Noel because I know secretly he'd want to be the Liam of the two brothers given the choice. Excellent! Edit to follow up; Jack light heartedly says he looks forward to meeting you upon which time he'll tear your head off and... I think he said sit on your neck or summat... well you get the idea. He's a real charmer. Heeheehee. 21 stone of retired ex-weight lifting miner/ lorry driver but a real diamond in the rough.
 2. Seemingly it depends on whether you'd like to see Chaka Khan in bondage gear with Jools tickling his ivories (no, not her ovaries) behind her... or not.
 3.
Well I have a personal strategy. Aging rocker seems to be a disparaging term so I have moved more towards jazz over the past years, got myself a DB. Jazz seems to be delightfully non ageist and predominantly non racist. also......... A friend of mine Reg who is a keyboard player and has toured with the likes of Lenny Kravitz and many others, has a gold disk or two on the wall and happens to be nearly 70. He is white, blind and not only plays the most fantastic keys he can sing the nuts off most youngsters. He has no problems at all getting a gig and is still touring. He's a good benchmark.
But, but, but what if you're jazzist?
 4. 54. Never been paid for playing. In fact I only performed at two events and they were little more than gatherings for the bright young musos of the time in Dublin. I don't think we even came near breaking even on the expenses Thirty plus years on I have picked up again but without the handicap of wanting to be popular as a musician. I just want to encourage folk to dance. I have had a good offer but there were snags that made it impossible to commit and be reliable for the band concerned. I have now decided to form my own band. I'd say my not driving is more of an impediment to me than my bald spot and grey hair. I can locate "compatible" musicians but unless they can come to me for practice it is difficult. Ideally, it would be good to forge links with a local drummer who can leave his or her kit at mine. The idea being that for the first year or so, we'd get tight on melodic rhythm together through regular practice. At some point I'd look at bringing in a front person, keys or guitar. That's the latest notion anyway. Gawd help us all if it works.

 6.
There are bass players with no transport, no decent gear, that play badly, turn up late, miss rehearsals, get drunk... But none that are deaf.
Apart from these you mean? - https://www.youtube....eaf+bass+player "none" Really?
 7.
"would you want to be a 50 something yr old bass player in a band with 15yr girls.."
Since you're asking, it would be rude of me to say no. Where do I sign please?
 8.
I am left wondering if we can start a band of 50+ (age and number) massed (aka overweight) bass players. Not sure about the commercial viability but we can rehearse (prior to the hearse) and enjoy the music
SMV SMV was a bass guitar supergroup formed in 2008. The group's name comes from the first initials of each of its members, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten. The collaboration gained momentum when the three first played together at a concert held by Bass Player magazine in New York City in 2006, where Miller and Wooten joined on stage to present Clarke with the magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award. SMV's debut album, Thunder, was released on August 12, 2008, with a supporting world tour beginning the same month. - from Wikipedia [s]...If I can remember where it is I have a clip of an 11 piece line up of bassists, stand by[/s] @ 3below, I can't see why not
 9.
How many adverts for 'all female band seeks...." Hmmm getting trickier positive discrimination is allowed i guess you a bigot??
My neighbour's daughter across t'road is a drummist. There must be an age gap of about thirty years between us. I mentioned that I was looking to jam and asked if she was interested. Already knowing what the answer would be, she said was already in a lesbian punk band but thanks anyway. She did promise me a CD however. The band folded a little after that unfortunately and I never got the disc. Aw. My disappointment was that her band didn't last the course. I have no problem with being rejected on the basis of age or sexuality. Why would I?
 10.
So are you a bigot??
Bigot = "a person who is intolerant towards those holding different opinions" Probably yes at times. I usually keep my feelings to myself unless I feel threatened by said opinion. I think we all are to some extent. The thing is, do you choose to make it someone else's problem as well or recognise that you are just one amongst many others. If the latter it is probably best to compromise.
 11. Um. Not sure what to say now... Hahahahaha

 13.
Pete Townshend. I couldn't remember how to spell his name hence the 'lead guitar geezer'. He was using a pad quite conspicuously.
[Whooooooooosh!] Right over your head my friend. Maybe I should've used a smilie... nah... hate 'em. Heeheehee. Pete Townshend is one of my stagecraft heroes.
 14.
I am an old luddite and seldom actually click links! (grin) Sorry!
No need to apologise for your age, there are lots of young Luddites here too you know.
 15. When I sang with the local choir, I'd have a crib sheet with the first words of each song as already mentioned above. I hardly ever used it but writing it out before the engagement helped me prepare mentally. I am not sure I'd have the same benefit from a tablet but have yet to try for myself. I have no real gigging experience other than from my twenties when we made our own stuff up. It was awful and therefore very easy to remember.
 16.
Last time I saw The Who that lead guitar geezer had one.
I NEVER saw the late John Entwistle use one. What are you on about? Joshing.
 17.
According to my bandmate, he uses a PageFlip Cicada -- I don't know if that model is still in production though. There are other PageFlip pedals and similar stuff from other manufacturers here.
Many thanks Rich. PMd yer.
 18.
There's a difference?
Shhhh! Keep it to yourself, there might be muggles here.
 19. No need to apologise. Cheers anyway.
 20.
Not sure what you mean....
Every time she moved it sounded like someone groping a load of balloons in a bag... Jules had to play to cover it.

 22.
Hitting strings with drumsticks: a.k.a. showing off.
Showmanship surely?
 23.
Google "big noise from Winnetka" Nothing new under the sun. When I saw the title, bearing in mind the season, I envisaged a rather greasy thread....
The link for that is already in post #1
 24.
Gunnlaugur Briem plays the sticks on Jóhann Ásmundsson's Sadowsky at 3,20. Fantastic musicians these guys .
My mate calls it lift music but I just kick him in the slats and tell him not to harshen my buzz. I lost both my vinyl and four track versions of Surprise Surprise a long time ago. A month or so back I downloaded a live performance and cranked it - hard. Lovely noise.
