  1. Is Scary Pockets the only band that comes with individually packaged band members in display cases and a drummer left loose to rattle around the toy box when the band isn't in use?
  2. I merely thought it would be appropriate to make the lyric fit the singer. That's all. You needn't pull my statue in East Street down because of it.
  3. Do you think this is better than the Jackson version?
  4. Hahaha! That's probably an insult but I don't care.
  5. Sorry to be picky but... ...shouldn't she be seeing a woman in the mirror?
  6. I found this online. PickupPositionsForManyMakesOfBass.xlsx It only seems to quote a measurement for the 34inch five string single pup Stingray but I have no reason to believe it isn't representative of manufacturers' standard measurements. You could extrapolate for your chosen scale.
  7. You're not wrong. He's definitely not half-aŕsed about it. He puts his entire backside into the performance. The man has great groove! Junior Groovador. I wonder if he's had an OCC chopper off of Mikey and his family yet?
  8. Mesmerising. I have to admire your ambition on this one. I'm hoping it becomes a solid player for you.
  9. I remember seeing a bloke on Jools' show. I can't remember the band. The chap looked very much like he was throwing one up his bass throughout the whole performance. I can get behind a groove but if that's what I look like, I'd sooner have a blow-up sheep than a bass strapped to me.
  10. That's put me in mind of Jack's last project in our workshop. Prior to this he had made clocks and ukuleles. A neighbour saw how well our garden chairs' restoration had worked and asked him to restore their knackered bench. Jack was unable to do much other than rip down the Sapele boards into batons for the job before he got ill and I finished it for him. We used Green Hammerite and it really enhanced the cast iron sides. I think we used yacht varnish to finish the Sapele. All of the bolts, washers and nuts are stainless steel.
  11. It's looking interesting now. Careful you don't over-egg it and end up with a Bongo. [Checks to make sure underwear is flame proof]
  12. Thanks for clearing that up. They must be good strings if you kept them on for eight years of heavy playing. I hope someone is local enough to enjoy the benefit of your recycling. All the best.
  13. You bought them used in December? I'd cover postage if you were willing and the strings were for a Ray (three over one).
  14. I see learning songs note for note (or near to) as preferable to learning scales. Keep in mind that I am a hobby bassist with an aversion to tuition. I haven't played on stage (other than a couple of OM nights) since the late eighties. The only scale I like to practice is the chromatic one from one end of the neck to the other and back. Sometime I start to cross over the strings shortly after leaving bottom E. Other times I cross over mid neck. I know my minor and major scale shapes but that's it without looking up a scale for a specific purpose. Sometimes I transpose the line by playing a semi-tone above or below what I'm used to just for a laugh. I've no leaning towards writing original material but occasionally I just like to wing it.
  15. I revised this list to include @Oldman, just before @Geek99 added his name so I've merged the two lists so that no-one drops off, so to speak. If Oldman would like to post what he's bringing, I shall include it unless @jebroad has already. Done.
  16. Fixed. Do you know what you're bringing with you?

  18. I used to get that sometimes early on. I then started to count off to music that was on while I was doing something other than playing bass. Usually I would keep time with my feet, either shuffling or tapping heels or toes. I got used to doing that, say while doing the dishes for example, and it sort of broke the jinx for me. It looks kinda odd to visitors but I don't care.
  19. It's as good a date as any for us, assuming we're not in special measures again.
