  1. Pink Floyd's The Wall Pt II just doesn't sound right like that though. You need the drop D at least.
  2. Not so. A five string will give you a greater choice of positions from which to play. You needn't travel up and down the neck as much.
  3. Basschat has a section for Feedback on member transactions. You can search the section by member name and get an idea of their reputation with dealings on site. It's good form to let people know how deals go afterwards for that reason. Here is a link to Oldman's Feedback. Glad to hear you are getting set up again. I wish you a lot of fun with it.
  4. How did you get around your B and E string snag with the tuning posts?
  5. Oh save it, definitely. Just look how much playing it's had. Even if your children duff it up a bit, it's a proven player. Lots of mojo. You'd hate yourself for binning it. If you do go that way, I am sure others would love to have a go
  6. Liam passed on a nice carbon fibre embedded pickguard for a P bass. He'd just got a fretless P and had fitted a different PG to it. Communications were concise. He didn't want anything for the item nor would he accept my offer to cover postage. Instead he mailed it to me first class, signed for, at his own expense. It arrived, well packaged, and in good condition the day after he messaged me to say he had sent it. Very generous. Much appreciated Cheers Liam.
  7. It is a condition common among members of the forum. You are in excellent company. G - Gear A - Acquisition S - Syndrome If you can't keep a check on it you'd best avoid the temptation of the Basschat marketplace. PS: We're all for fart gags here. It's all about the bottom end innit.
  8. Shall if I want! So there. Heeheehee
  9. Indeed. The headline might be questionable but my needs (or the lack of them to be accurate) are the same. Your point?
  10. It was said recently in the news that high definition streaming is contributing to climate change almost as much as air travel. BBC Future I don't stream. I like to own a physical copy or use a PVR to store whatever media I want to consume. The news above wasn't a real concern at the time I made my decision to stay with broadcast telly and keep the Internet for use as a tool rather than as a source of entertainment. I like discs as a storage and playback medium, either optical or vinyl. I decided that streaming was over and above my requirements. I don't have a household with children demanding parity with their peers. I don't need a sledgehammer to crack my nuts, so to speak. I have a cheaper connection as a consequence. TV is not included in the package. The events of the past year have made applications for jamming in real time over the Internet popular. I have looked at getting into this myself. I would however need a fatter connection and all the associated guff that comes with it. My experience with VM has put me off dealing with ISPs altogether. I probably won't be changing any time soon. I am a dedicated hardwire user. My meagre connection speed is not further compromised by the use of wireless. I have no need of it since I never want to carry that sort of tech with me everywhere. It's hard not to feel slightly smug given what is emerging about the impact on our environment that streaming causes.
  11. Welcome K. The GAS is strong with this one.
  12. Great save! Now I'm wondering where I can get some electric Camembert.
  13. Why my spares drawer, of course. I have been collecting from the Recycling section for a while now. I'd be happy to have that. I am pulling your leg. If however you do want to move it on PM me. Your bass still looks good. You might be right about the CF looking busy in that context.
  14. True in the main. However, it is a useful way to play a paddle bass.
  15. That's a bit like asking smart 'phone users to take photos and videos in landscape.
  16. Sky Arts is also on Freesat, channel 147. Great topic Paul.
  17. Looking forward to seeing it as I recorded it earlier. I heard Lee being interviewed this morning on 6music. The track they played at the end caught my interest.
  18. Thanks for tagging me in. It's lovely, isn't it? If I had that sort of timber, I'd be sorted for my scratch build though. I'm more interested in those spare guitar stands.
  19. Normally the B and E strings would be tapered at the silk end to allow the strings to wrap against the tuner capstans more easily. In this case, as you've cut them down from full size, the full thickness if the strings is too much. Have you considered having Newtone make a set for you with tapers to suit your uke?
  20. I've never subscribed to wireless. I was overhauling wifi touchpads (Fujitsu Teampads) for Tesco's home shopping service during the noughties and I know how mediocre wireless connections are in a crunch.
