    Hello

Thank you for not calling it quaint.
  2. Welcome BB. I've had one of those for quite a while now. At the time of purchase, in the eighties, it was regarded as a good recording instrument. Mine even has an XLR fitted to send a clean signal to the interface. A tip if you haven't already heard of them: Superwound AKA piano wound strings... It's not easy to get them now, especially as DBEs, but if you ever have the opportunity, get some. They complement the neck-through design of the bass quite well, giving you more harmonics and great sustain.
  3. Good to see you and the invisible bear are going strong. All the best to you and the band.
  4. Welcome Rob.

    Welcome Eko.
  6. Welcome Cliff. It's sat on top of the stave.
  7. My belly button looks like a knot.
  8. What do you mean "going"?
  9. Welcome NB. Thank you for offering to decorate the site. You will find some overalls and a paint roller in the cupboard under the stairs.
  10. Next you'll want me tweeting. Nah, Bog off.
  11. Welcome.
  12. Welcome Saturnalia.
  13. Welcome John.
  14. Next you will be building one that can walk itself!
  15. Welcome MP.
  16. Gnarls Barkley/Ceelo Green.
  17. Welcome Vin.
  18. Best wishes to you both.
  19. In theory, I suppose you could have the name of each note for all fret positions. Not that it would be particularly helpful. Probably counter productive now I think about it. Just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean you should. I like the lemniscate though. I tried inlaying with powdered metals in resin once but it wasn't great because I hand carved the relief. You should have better results.
  20. Congrats Matt. You can take the mask off though. There is no way your face can upstage that bass! It's a thing of beauty.
  21. One of the marks of a good bass sound at a venue is that you feel the low frequencies rather than hear them. If you get your technique and the right settings on a half decent compressor, you can do so without causing ear fatigue. Headphones can't do this for you so you can't practice how to get there safely at home, you are relying on tweakage at the venue rather than any real experience. With a decent practice amp you can get partway there before you hit the stage, as it were.
